BLU: Pallas vs Custom M Gloves (semi tested)

So, from my last post I was disappointed that I couldn't mathamatically figure out if Cust Glove > Pallas... so, I dusted off my cust gloves and did a couple of tests to compare to my previous Pallas tests.

(I also have each individual spell damage split into High mob, Low mob - but the results are basically the same)

I realize the sample size isn't optimal, so the numbers aren't perfect... but this is sufficient enough for me. I also noticed that it took more spells to kill an Imp. So for me, Pallas > Cust Gloves for soloing VT Imps.

why were you thinking RSE gloves had a chance? I was under the impression these spells were purley STR mod?

Frip & Dis are both 20_STR 20_STR. Only way to really prove this would be to go BLU/THF with Smite of Rage which is also 20_STR & 20_DEX and do tests on bunnehs. I recall doing tests, and finding damage was higher with RSE due to the DEX mod on both of the spells, can't recall for certain however, so I'll go do some more tests here in a bit.

How does that prove anything for frenetic rip and disseverment? Seems like worthless test to me, since str vs. vit is going to matter for all 3-5 hits of frenetic rip or disseverment on a merit mob.

The number of hits on the spell, the damage type, and the upper base damage cap won't matter if the modifiers are proven to be the same and they apply to each hit.

You really only need to look at one hit's damage to see the difference; it'll only be greater over multiple hits.

Which makes me wonder why I am getting higher #s with Pallas vs Custom M Gloves on F.Rip almost every time. The difference between Pallas's Bracelets and Custom M Gloves is +6 STR and -8DEX (+9STR / -5DEX vs +3STR / +3DEX) My Sword and Magic Potency merits have both been going up incrementally and now they're both capped, and i've been switching alot between /NIN and just Frightful Roar, and /RDM and Dia II + Frightful Roar, along with some resists on Roars occasionally, so these factors might be contributing to the #s I am seeing. I feel like a nut swearing Pallas's Bracelets are better on F.Rip

I'll probably go solo/duo some Imps tomorrow night or at the latest the day after, i'll try to get some more "steady" numbers then (i.e: no new merits to get, no new gear, no changing spell set for extra/less STR/DEX).

Even if the secondary mods were proven to apply to hits beyond the first, which I've never seen proof of, testing on rabbits isn't fair to the str v. vit check in a real scenario.

That's the refference I use for modifier information for spells and whatnot. On something that has a very high VIT, Alky would probably be better yes. Might bring a BLM buddy with you and play with a merit mob for some tests.
