Ok, curious question. For anyone paranoid/supersticious, do you have in your inventory Lucky Egg and/or 4leaf Mandra bud? I just remember when I started and was levellingI found a mandra bud and I seemed to have better luck until I ate the damn thing instead of Sushi (party proceeded to LOL).

i was wondering if anyone who had these items noticed any luck increase or whatever. at the least they make a nice placebo at cost of an inventory slot.

in all honesty, i think if those items worked, you'd have 12-18 ppl chomping down on lucky eggs when fafnir hit 10%.

i never eat mine when i'm killing a NM< I just let it sit in my Bazaar. Next HNM I do I'll chomp down on my 4leaf...hell even Mee Deggi or RG, both are bad to me

Same. I've had one since I started the game and was leveling my first job in sarutabaruta, and has never left my inventory, not even put in mog house. Probably does nothing, but w/e, I'm keeping it there.

I remember someone asking at Fanfest if 4 leaf mandy bud; rarab's foot; etc had any luck element to them. The devs looked at each other; laughed and said "Believe in your heart and your dreams will come true."

I used to keep my Pumpkin Head I got on NA launch day with me; not really a luck item but it reminded me of how far I had come in game since that day. :D

i keep every item anyone has ever given me that has left the game. doesn't matter what its worth, i can't/won't sell any of it. and if it's worthless, i won't throw it away.

if i get gifts of new or HQ food, i don't eat it. i put it on a mule and keep it in my bazaar there at all 9's.

(this is superstitious because i feel like if i get rid of any of it it'll be bad karma)

I used to have a lucky egg, 4-leaf bud, and rabbit's foot on me at all times, but I recently dropped the bud and foot. The egg I'm keeping for if I ever wanna get an Opo-Opo Crown.

One friday night I did my usual mining loop of Gusgen/Oldton/Newton that I do once/twice a week (or did for a long time, nowadays EXPing more than farming/mining) and for some odd reason forgot to toss one of the goblin dice I got. Now I usually end up tossing 10 of these suckers in a 3 hour mining session, one just slipped through late that night.

Next day Dyna-Xarca, and we get one drop- my Duelist's Chapeau. Kept it for a while (the die that is!) out of sentimentality, and low and behold- I get my BLM's Shaman's Cloak 1/1! Then I get my crimson cuisses with the damn die still in my inventory after over 10 kirins in a row for my LS without wyrmal legs dropping.

Tell me that doesn't mess with your head every time you go to throw it away. Eventually did though, and was damn scared for a good week that I'd never see another drop again.

i used to mine in gusgen loooong time ago.. and one dude there swore by 4leaf mandy buds helping him get Darksteel / gold ore

i went out and got myself 1 along with a rarabs tail and had it in my inventory for the longest time...

i dont particularily recall seeing any boost to mining, sometimes you get streaks of gold / darksteel ore, but that happened when i didnt have the bud anyways

i think the rarab tail is sitting in storage still... i probably ate the leaf at one point...

If they do have an effect it's a lot smaller than the effect of game-day/moon phase. If you're gonna test them you'll need to do a FFT on your data and remove the game-day and moon phase variation.

Personally... I like to go out on RNG, especially if I'm using a gun, with my lucky flask of Marksman's Oil. The mental image of my character pouring out a little oil and cleaning off her gun with it makes me smile, and I often carry a silk or rainbow cloth as well for that reason.

I also have a Goblin Doll that I keep around because it makes me feel vaguely warm and snuggly inside. His name is Pipnix (after Pip, a RL stuffed animal with strong sentimental value.)

There's the set of Cardian cards that I decided I had to have one day, all four Aces. There's a Photoanima which I'm not sure why I have it, but I'm hesitant to give it up.

I don't have any of the items that people normally consider lucky, but I kind of like the ones I've chosen. Personal significance and all.

I've got a full blown luck set including the rabbit tail, 4 leaf bud, some gold nuggets (acquired only from beastmen buried treasure), a stack of Cerberus meat, a stack of Viking herring, a pigeon's blood ruby, a cool knife (originally Valiant Knife but now Adder Jambiya), Opo-opo Crown, Mermaid Ring, Getsul Ring, Sand Charm, Sand Mantle, and a katana my old farming buddy who I made a vast majority of my money with gave me.

Overall it works for me, having upgraded a relic weapon based on money drops from rare ass NMs that used to be worth more and are now gilseller camped heavily or changed to rare/ex. People in my linkshell generally consider me to have the best luck out of anyone as my drops are always the best.

Ive carried several lucky eggs and 4 leaf buds, and eaten them on several occasions in hopes of good drops, and never saw any apparent effect on drops. I personally dont see how any item can give you any buff without either eating or equipping it, so I wouldnt think carrying it around would help, and catn equip it, so farming it and eating it when a mob dies seems the only way it could have any effect, if it even does.
