after I SLATHER IT, it asks me to do it again. Do I need to keep doing it, or is once enough?

    edit:

protip! when trying to catch the fucking gay pokemon that only appears on fridays, just change your DS settings so it's a friday and the pokemon will be there. Probably works with the time thing too.

edit: just tried moving time forward 12 hours and no rustling trees

I just spent an hour or two hunting down and catching every single Unown. All the letters and the ? and the ! I feel so cheated. But hey, it wasn't that bad, since after catching all the letters I went into this tunnel and caught a Hippo thingie. And now I have tons of letter and punctuation seals to decorate my pokeballs.

Oh, and I finally caught and bred tons of Gibbles. Bred a female Gibble with my Torterra, so the new Gibbles know Earthquake. :D

Oh hey, question to anybody who may know. This whole thing about inserting GBA games into the DS to get different wild pokemon. Do I need the national Dex first before that'll happen? I can't find anything else on this, it just says like: "Growlithe. Route 200-something when Fire Red is inserted"

Water = Weak to Grass. Ground = Weak to Grass. Therefore Water/Ground = 4x weak.

Psychic = Weak to Dark. Fighting = Resist Dark. Therefore Psychic/Fighting = 1x damage.

Take Heracross for example, Bug/Fighting pokemon.

Both types are weak to flying moves, so flying attacks will have 400% effectiveness.

However, only bug types are weak to fire moves, fighting pokemon have no strength or weakness vs fire, so fire attacks will have 200% effectiveness.

With rock moves, fighting pokemon are resistant to rock attacks, but bug pokemon are weak to rock attacks, so they cancel each other out. Rock attacks will have 100% effectiveness.

Bug pokemon are strong against grass moves, and fighting pokemon have no strengths or weaknesses to grass moves, so grass attacks will have 50% effectiveness.

If both pokemon types were resistant to the attack type, it would have 25% effectiveness too, but there are no examples for Heracross for this

    -----

Some pokemon of certain types also have immunity to moves of certain types, and this immunity carries over, even if the secondary type of that pokemon is weak to that move type.

For example Wooper is a Water/Ground pokemon, and Ground pokemon are immune to electric moves. Even though Water pokemon are weak against electric moves, the ground immunity takes priority and electric attacks will have 0% effectiveness.
