Yep. That was before Dark-type was introduced, and vs. CPU trainers you didn't see much that was fast enough to wipe Gyrados with a 4x weak Thunder/Tbolt or the like.

Heck, my Pearl team has a L27 Gyrados on it right now. Still a nice early bruiser, hits like a truck and Dragon Rage two-shots pretty much anything, +Hyper Beam boomstick.

Later game (Elite 4) it seems HyperBeam sucks balls on Gyrados... I'd use it and it'd do less than his other moves with much lower damage ratings even when both were physical and neutral weakness.

Hyper beam loses it's novelty when you get past the 5th gym, at that point either gyarados is out of your team (like mine), or you're using Hydro Pump, hopefully. Hyper beam is hot, but with a turn cool down, sorta leaves it more of that online game finisher. I mean, nothing says "Pwned" like seeing your mob eat a hyper beam at low HP.

Plus, Gyarados is meat ehen tosses VS a lightning mob.

nope, can be either
but if you make the ditto hold an everstone and the other pkmn is a MALE, then the ditto's nature is passed down to the baby
same if you make females hold everstones
good for passing down natures you want, i personally have like 20 dittos, one of each nature lol

Ditto takes the form of the pokemon it's with in the opposite sex.

So:

Male pokemon + Ditto = Same type as male

Female Pokemon + Ditto = Same Type as Female

Ditto + Ditto = Missingno... OHSHI-

Your hyper Beam sucks because it's based on special attack, not regular attack like previous games.

You can use the Thief move to steal the items that a pokemon is holding without having to capture them.

False Swipe, which never takes a mob below 1 HP is now a TM; I don't know which number.

I think there might be an ability now on some pokemon (I'll try to look for it, bored anyways) that lets you see the enemy's item. Before this game, I would just use Thief from Sneasel to steal to see if they had one.

False Swipe, a pokemon move, can never kill anything. I've never heard of an item that does it though.

I got the other two off the GTS. There are a lot of nice Japanese players who will trade them to you for even a trash pokemon. I got my grass starter by putting up a lvl ~10 Psyduck for trade. In return, I got a lvl 1 male grass starter with Razor Leaf.

However, if you are wanting a female starter you will probalby have to give up something more valuable. I got a female prinlup by trading a female croagunk I caught in the safari zone.

Buy both versions, keep starting games til you can trade them over to one game, split them between the versions when you have all of them. You have to go through the beginning of the game 6 times, which takes a little while, but it was worth it for me.

You can also have someone who has a Ditto breed them, unless they got lucky with a female starter. I only have the grass starter as female, stupid 12.5%. ~_~

Guess I will go the Ditto route since buying the other isn't an option. I mainly just want the little fire monkey.
