At this point and time I'd like to express my extreme hatred for double team. I'm in a double battle in the battle tower and all this guy has left is a Yanma but he has used double team about 10 fucking times and he alternating with detect and I can't. . fucking. .hit him. . >|

Pretty sure the abilities-doing-things-outside-battle thing was emerald exclusive. Easiest (and cheapest) way I can think of to get a lucky egg would be to have a pokemon with Frisk, since that will tell you what it's holding, if anything.

No, secondary ability effects are all in DP. Everything from Emerald is in DP.

Some abilities got slightly changed though, but Compound Eyes should still work.

Max ups for a stat is 6, which is 4x the original stat, ya 2 = x2, 4 = x3, 6 = x4. Correct me if I'm wrong someone.

That's handy to know so you don't waste a turn doing an up after you're maxed out.


I'm at the steel gym and my pokemans are only 35, I feel like I'm going to hit the end with 45-47 pokes and E4 is going to suck lol.

It is six, Uxie would max amnesia at 3 (2 stages vs 1) so 6 should be correct. 10 was an exaggeration, he may as well have only used DT once and the fight still would have lasted as long because my luck is so shitty combined with detect (and yeah SB, I've had enemies pull off detect//protect back to back way too many times for my liking >_>).

Every source I've checked say that the abilities do have secondary uses. Magma Armor/Flame Body will make eggs hatch quicker, Compound Eyes will bring in more pokemon with held items. I have the official Nintendo guide, and it all says the same stuff. So I'm guessing it must be true.

Worst is ones who abuse it with a Pokemon with Pressure. On paper the ability doesnt sound so great, but it can really mess you up badly, when most of your power moves only have 5-15 PP.

The Nintendo guide also says racking up a high chain with the Pokeradar increases chances of seeing a shiny, and considering I've gotten several chains of over 10 sightings and haven't seen a single one, I'm inclined to believe that's horseshit.

I think Pick Up would be good, but don't Pokemon have to be a high level to Pick Up Rare Candies? Would I be better off trying to get six Pick Up- pokes in my Diamond game, or just try to get a bunch of Rare Candies in Sapphire and slowly transfer them over?

Or alternatively, is there a fast way to find out IVs without 30-some Rare Candies and a soft reset?

Yeah, I just hatched a whole bunch of Turtwigs to try and breed a good one, but I guess I'll have to wait a week or so until I can get my brother to get the game so I can battle him to check their IVs.
