I ditched my Luxray when I found out that it would never learn Thunder Wave while leveling. *weeps*

I don't know how you'd really make a balanced team featuring dogs when so many of them have fire or dark somewhere, I think that you'd have to have the same type at least twice... if you did something like

Vulpix (Fire)
Manectric (Electric)
Granbull (Normal)
Lucario (Fighting/Steel)
Mightyena (Dark)

you still have one spot left to fill in, and you're going to be overlapping something. Even with that you have a lot of shared weaknesses in the group (ground for 3 of them and fighting for 3?) which could make it miserable if someone went in there prepared.

I totally would have forgotten Lucario if Vile hadn't mentioned it though, so there are probably some other dogs that I'm missing. It's too bad you can't use Eevees.

I suppose she feel that Eevees would be cheating since it's a wild card for types.

It is, but since I mentioned Mightyena I didn't include it because they're both dark. You could replace one with the other, I just mentioned the first one that came to mind because I don't think I ever caught an Absol. Absol might be a little better since it has higher stats I thiiiink.

Yeah I mentioned Absol in my original post. I can use an eevee but it was sort of hinted that I shouldn't. If it can be used to somewhat balance my team then I'd strongly consider it. I notice that most of the dogs are dark or fire though... Lucario would be usable though.

Maybe a Leafeon or a Vaporeon for balance? Leafeon is weak to a bunch of different things, so that could be sort of bad. I guess Espeon would work too. The only thing I can think of that works well against both ground and fighting is flying type, and as much as I want to see a flying Eevee, we're stuck there for now.

Ninjaedit - I totally forgot about Smeargle. He's normal type and it'd probably be annoying trying to get a good move set for it, but I'd say it's a dog too if you want another one to consider.

So, I've created my Eveeloution team after getting fortunate enough to get a Modest Female while breeding (still trying to make more for ya'll, but don't hold your breath, it's frustrating)

I've decided to leave Glacion out of the group. Curious what ya'll though about these move sets:

Defensive side
Vaporeon - Get a couple Acid Armors up, and an Aqua Ring, then Baton pass to Espeon
Acid Armor
Surf
Aqua Ring
Baton Pass

Espeon - Get a couple Calm Minds up, and a Light Screen, then Baton pass to Umbreon.
Light Screen
Calm Mind
Psychic
Baton Pass

Umbreon - Tank, Bold nature instead of Modest.
Moonlight
Toxic
Dark Pulse
Attraction?? Mean Look?? Not sure on a 4th move here.

Offensive side -
Leafeon Special sweeper 1
Sunny Day
Solar Beam
Giga Drain
Energy Ball

Jolteon - special sweeper 2
Shock Wave
Thunderbolt
Charge Beam
Shadow Ball?? Dunno, want a special attack that's not thunder based, can't seem to find anything else.

Flareon - Adamant Nature, physical bruiser
Fire Fang
Iron Tail
Bite
Dig

Thoughts? Suggestions?

For Umbreon I've heard you want Baton Pass and Mean Look on it. Combined with aggrivating moves like Toxic and Confuse Ray with high HP and Def/S.Def EVs, Umbreon can become a huge pain in the ass.

If you can get a hold of one, a Smeargle with the following moveset:

Spore
Spider Web
Imprison
Transform

(Used in that order).

It's (incredibly) hard to get a Smeargle with Transform sketched, but it's a pretty good pokemon.

Are you talking about Baton Pass? Baton Passing 6 Double Teams to a heavy-hitting pokemon practically guarantees victory. The longer the opponent lives, the more chances they have at winning.

I was talking more on the element of Umbreon having the Acid Armor + Calm Mind + Light Shield + Aqua Ring buffs active + Just outlasting the other poke and killing it through Toxic.

Swap moonlight + Mean Look with Double Team & Baton Pass would be better then?

Why would you want to Baton pass away from Umbreon?

After Toxic and Confuse Ray it would give you the option to switch out if you want. The reason for this is actually defensive, if you think about it. Umbreon sucks as a physical damager, so someone doing Toxic + Mean Look on your Umbreon (One of the most common counters to the Umbreon tank setup) would cause it to get severely damaged, and render it pretty worthless for the rest of the fight.

Woooo! Beat the Elite Four and Champion with this team:

They leveled to about 51-52 through the course of it. It was hard as hell, because a lot of the E4 had Pokemon 10-15 levels ahead of my team. I remember the Psychic guy stomping me with his Alakazam, because no one could survive Psychic.

Cynthia...my god, that was a close fight. Mako's Earthquake was the only way I won, as it's somehow capable of one-shotting a level 64 Lucario. She got me down to just Mako as my sole survivor, and I had to shuffle pokemon around reviving them and throwing potions and an ether at Mako (He ran out of PP for Earthquake). He finally Earthquaked her overpowered slug for the win.

There's my E4 advice: Catch a Gabite, go through the excrutiating pains to level it, teach it Earthquake, and stock up on ethers!
