Lag Question
I have a question regarding 'lag', by which I mean the amount of time after you say, hit a macro for a spell before it actually starts, or like, if you send yourself a /tell and gauge how long until you receive the second line.
I always thought it was based entirely on your connection speed, but lately I've periodically had noticeably more lag with what I think is the same speed (not downloading movies or anything like that). It's particularly annoying for a mage because it completely changes the rhythm you need for casting a few spells in quick succession, or if you have gear swaps on multiple macros, how long you have to wait between executing them to make sure all of your gear changes, etc.
It's getting warmer where I live, and I've noticed that the periods of more lag coincides with times where the room my computer is in heats up, but goes away after a while when I turn on the AC or turn up the ceiling fan speed. Does it make any sense that the two things should be related, or is it just a coincidence? I don't know much about computers but I don't get how the temperature of my room should have anything to do with how long it takes for information to travel to and from Japan. I just want to identify the problem so keep it from happening in the future.

When your room is hot 70*+ it affects gpu, cpu, memory, hdd, etc. performance. By reducing the temperature, your computer internals cool and dissipate heat better.
Some likely suggestions,
1. Keep your room temperature lower.
2. If you haven't ever looked inside your PC case before, its time. You more than likely have a dust bunny gang-gang taking place. Dust acts as an insulator for heat. The more dust packed on your internals, the worse.
3. Upgrade your case fans, and cpu/gpu cooler if needed. Also, attaching passive heatsinks (Which are dirt cheap) to memory, etc. can help alot with removing heat from the source.
You more than likely just have a overheating issue which can be fixed easily and decently cheap.
