No "???" Item Upon Successful Assault?

I recently cleared three new Assault missions: Counting Sheep, Building Bridges and Searat Salvation as a group of 4 for the former two, and 3 for the latter.

For Counting Sheep, we successfully rescued 2/5 Karakul before exiting. Building Bridges is an all-or-nothing win. Searat Salvation was cleared with 4/5 Qiqirn successfully escorted.

No ??? item was granted upon opening the chest for ANY of the three clears. A different person opened the chest each time, and none of these people already had a ??? item in their possession. The rest of the chest contents were obtained as normal.

Having never seen a ??? item not be awarded, I contacted a GM.

After explaining the situation to the GM, I finally asked the question: "Is an appraisable item not guaranteed after the successful completion of an Assault?"

To which he replied: "That is correct."

So... Has anyone else cleared an Assault without a ??? item awarded? I'm assuming the GM was just passing the buck, but I wanted to check with the community in case it was a legitimate glitch.

I did the first Ashu Talif fight a couple days ago and only got the treasure pool chest, coulda sworn they always gave at least a ??? box and the treasure pool chest. Also once doing the 3rd fight and correctly hitting the captain at the start we were given 2 ??? boxes instead of 1 and a ??? gloves like I've always gotten. Dunno, maybe they changed it without saying anything or something.

The two ??? Boxes from Ashu Talif #3 has happened to my group once also, though never seen a conventional assault fail to give a ??? item.

I've done about a bazillion "standard" assaults without that ever happening. If that's something they ninja-changed recently, then fuck their dead skulls. ??? items and AP for Salvage are all I care about anymore.

You don't get an ??? item if your inventory is full, only think I can think of.

Yeah but if your inventory is full it says "Unable to obtain the ____, sort your inventory" or whatever and the box doesn't disappear. And incidentally, it doesn't change, so if it's a ??? ring when you check it, it'll still be a ??? ring when you make space for it or someone else gets it.

So, it looks like this was just a glitch? I have done two Assault since that night, both of which awarded a ??? item.

Somehow I still am surprised when a GM doesn't know wtf they are talking about. :/
