We have like 30~ Servers, let´s say 28 to make it easy.
2.800.000.000/28 = 100.000.000
Thats 100 Million per Server. That is still a shitload of gil.
Let´s look at this closer.

1 Million costs arround $33.87.

That is a loss for IGE, IGXE, MOGS whatever fucking company in numbers (not counting the $ they paid the RMT):

All Servers : $33.87*2800 = 94,836 $
For each Server that is $33.87*100 = 3387 $

Not that bad still, even though it was in the past more like 500.000$+ loss.

For my company I would get really hurt to lose arround 100k in $.

you can add that every 1mil sold, there is about 20~30% of gil back into ige hands.

assume 20% of gil will going back to ige everytime they sell a 1mil gil and etc. Then 20% of gil will bought by gilbuyer again then repeat again.

The gil that generate(or generate should not be an appropriate term?) by the 2.8Bil will be about 0.7B. which total will be 3.5B. Cause about 118545usd lost to ige.

two ways to make the now almost monthly bannings better:

1. have moogles sell lottery tickets to redistribute all the "removed" gil. The sale of tickets would still remove the same amount, but damn it would be fun to hear on your LS "OMG I won!!!1!one! 23 million gil in my dbox from SE!"

2. drop all banned accounts in random zones, making them targetable. If you happen to be in the same zone the moment they are dropped in, you receive a temporary version of the ability "Steal" and the banned accounts are attackable. Gear and Gil can be stolen.

I doubt IGE is losing any money. If there's less gil in the economy, they might pay more to the RMT. But they also raise the price.

They lost millions of gil (assets), so they have to raise the price of the gil (their assets). This makes the gil less appealing to the player (assets too expensive for the consumer, less people buy). They're probably already past the balance point (between good asset pricing and retaining a large consumer base), so every time one of these bannings come up, they are probably losing at least a bit of money. The hope is that they eventually stop selling FFXI gil, but they are too damn persistant.

the counterargument is that due to the increased value of gil, more Chinese shops will be willing to supply the good at the elevated price since there's more profit in it. let's think about it like the drug trade. if i assume that half of my cargo shipments will be lost but i can charge double for the shipments that do go through, then i still stand to make the same sum of money. this doesn't decrease the drug production, but rather increases it because you need more volume of product to make the same cash. since the actual production in this situation is the problem, increasing the market value of gil is not exactly helping the situation.

a likely more effective way to attack the problem would be the confiscation of the gil from the player after they've payed IGE, possibly taking away more than was bought. the player places a higher value on the gil as well as their player than do the cgf. cgf can merely remake the chars. players have a lot more invested in them, and thus the threat of loss to the player is a greater concern. less buyers sends the price down on the gil which causes it to be less viable to produce. as such, less is produced and the cgf population will decline. this directly parallels the design behind the reduction of the drug trade wherein attention is payed to buyers with the intent of removing them from the market.

People change, I don't know why people make these claims.

I'd never of thought Ung be the type of person to join Sist once upon a time, as with many ppl, but they did.

It's a game. You don't know them personally so you can't say he/she wouldn't do anything.
