I preferred CoP's capped(at least 60 cap, 30 and 40 are kind of awkward) missions as they were actually challenging compared to RoZ and ToAU's... which both seem to be cap 60/70 fights made uncapped.
If they can make a mission line with a great story and uncapped BC fights of at least Promathia tier hardness(which isn't too hard mind you, but a big deal above the previous expansion's final fight), that would be perfect. But, I don't think it's a good idea to set our hopes so high with SE. If they surprise us, all the better.
PS. I've been 75 BLM for 10 years now.
Maybe he's saying 6 years vanadiel time![]()
Eh, hearing "Oh, sorry, I can't help. I don't have gear for that level cap" really pissed me off when I was clearing COP. I don't mind the fights being hard, but simply setting a level cap to accomplish that seems like a cop out (lol) to me.
I don't think that many people can argue that TOAU is at least pointed in the right direction in comparison to COP, despite its rather CS-heavy mission set so far. However, I'm completely expecting them to massively drop the ball in one way or another, per usual.
Not having capped armor isn't an excuse anyone came up with until after most people had finished the missions. Why weren't you doing the missions when everyone else was?Originally Posted by Eander
Well, I quit for 6 months right after COP came out, smarty pants.
"I can't help I don't have gear for that level" means " I don't care and I am too lazy to dig shit up, I'm not helping stfu and go away".
CoP BCs were great. People are lazy in nature and they required work. Mayba I'm biased because my group simply owned the BCs and didn't have to try like 10x each. (except that stupid pots BC...) The story was great although TAU really caught fire in the last couple CSs and hopefully will continue to do so. I think like 500 people predicted earth/hole and all that shit way back when, it's funny people think they were the first though.
Hopefully they aren't stupid and made any time requirements for HTG if it is the final area though. Instanced would be ok as long as you can have multiple groups inside. (and I mean 50!) Never had a problem with Limbus until last week when the one zone we need for Omega has been jacked by 2 groups and one of the nights every Apollyon zone was jacked.(wtf @JPs doing Limbus at like 9am Friday?)
Because I didn't start my second character until a year ago.Originally Posted by Khamsin
And CoP still sucks.
To this day I don't think "most people" have finished CoP, nor was there a time when "everyone" was doing the missions. I think you underestimate the hatred for CoP.Originally Posted by Khamsin
I suspect they will never add Dynamis zones for the new areas. It would go against the story line they created for them.
Diabolos - "Thanks, come again."
There is no reason they couldn't add Dynamis Like areas under a completely different premise. Raids? They could just instance any zone and give the bosses some decent loot.
SE can continue their tradition on not letting us have "too much fun" by making the zones only accessible by EX drops from Cerb/Hydra/Khim.
Capped missions = "Oh boy, all the gear and most of the merits I worked for are completely useless as I face a mob (or mobs) without (elegy/dispel/cure V) that spams (Utsusemi-stripping moves/ridiculous buffs/devastating AoEs) that can't be (slept/bound/gravitied).
And the strategy to defeat said mob makes it near impossible for some party setups to succeed without outside assistance teehee! *coughsnolltzarcough*Originally Posted by Mifaco
You think you had it bad, I was the only LV40+ drk in my ls during our LS runs through cop missions. I think i had to run diabolos 3-5 like 10-15times ftl.
And then Altana created Blue Mages. She looked upon them, and they were good.Originally Posted by Lordender
Don't know about the mission diabolos but the avatar fight he resists stun from headbutt, never proc'ed once when headbutt landed -.-;Originally Posted by Septimus
The mission Diabolos gets his world rocked by Blue Mages. I did it not to long ago for my second character with NIN, BRD, WHM, BLU, BLU, DRK (once as BRD and once as DRK), the only time we had to worry was when headbutt was in cool down. It was a thing of wonder.Originally Posted by Lordender

One of my friend's sets was lacking a DRK and had to rely on stun WS to stop Nightmare. WHM's meleeing for Brainshaker wooo.
I liked CoP.
There, I said it.
Going in there with friends [woe to you people who did pickup CoP] was fun, And when I was done I felt like accomplished something. I felt like I had done something difficult and that I really earned my reward, fighting through CoP with a PLD tank pre-PLD updates.
That's a feeling that I never got from manaburning Zilart, or killing my ten billionth Decorative Weapon and casting Refresh for the (hyper(3,n+2,3) = 3→3→n)'th time.
Now, I know that a lot of people have experienced this and my time wasn't 'special' or 'unique' but the storyline made me feel that way. I tried doing the ToAU missions and was simply bored.
EDIT: Also on ToAU Dynamis, I said it before and I'll say it again.
Nightmare Chigoe. And Lots of them.
Ill agree to a point, when you have 3 75 jobs (fully geared for any event) + others youre leveling here and there (for me 53mnk and 30bst) , when you have maxed mog house, mog locker, and inventory with maybe 3 slots to spare total, hell no im not gonna buy a full set of armor to go do CoP missions, call it lazy, call it not giving a shit, but I aint doing it.
However it just so happens im working on 53MNK and pretty much all my gear (that i can think of) is useable for 50 cap. Ill go as mnk on any 50 cap CoPs that need to be done for friends/ls members. When I was still spamming Pcharm bcnm and had 40cap nin gear I was always up for 40cap events as nin.
Our CoP static was NIN PLD~THF RDM RDM BRD WHM. We went 1/1 or 1/2 on every mission except CoP 8-3 against those damn pots where we just didn't seem to have enough damage to kill the first two pots fast enough.
The PLD ended up subbing /DRK for Souleater+Full Swing, and that was the cornerstone of our winning strategy. Totally absurd, but it worked.
CoP missions aren't particularly difficult. The repeated losses are, generally, the result of players not willing to prepare properly. Yes, we know you hate keeping capped gear on hand, but showing up to the Omega fight with a Wax Sword +1 and Eisenplatte to the Tenzen fight is asking for trouble.
Ditto for people who refuse to farm animas, buy yellow liquids, bring CCB Polymer, farm for Mistmelts, farm for Shu'meyo Salt, etc.
The missions are not difficult if you prepare properly for them. I give Square-Enix credit for throwing a tree of missions that you can't simply "zerg" to win. It adds a bit more value to the rewards you get at the end, whereas the Glory Crown is going to become the new Walahra Turban, assuming it's actually useful.
