The right frame is a cage/elevator type thing in Hazhalm Testing Grounds. That appears to be one of the ones on the upper level. Basically, Hazhalm is comprised of like ten+ levels of hueg rooms with one of those on each side. They're on ledges, so you can't actually walk into them. I'm not sure what they're for, but they're not NPCs. I would assume that you walk into the middle of the room and mobs come out of the elevators. Idfk. I don't have the screenshots anymore, but as you go deeper into Hazhalm it gets more purpley. The very bottom floor is really creepy.

Edit: It's not an underworld, you people really need to read your cutscenes. Hazhalm Testing Grounds was, believe it or not, a testing facility for genetic engineering (Khimaira, says something about Mandragoras, etc.)

Megomak mentions Lamiae, Merrows, puks, khimairas, mandragora, and stuff. However, the underworld of Vana'diel seems to be a physical place (that is actually underground, as seen from its connection to volcanic areas) and who's to say that Hazhalm doesn't connect to Hades or whatever?

Underworld shouldn't even fucking exists because all souls return to the fucking mothercrystal.

While this might be caused by the fact CoP and ToAU has no connection, it still bugs me if the lore of the realm is inconsistent. Given the choice though, I'd rather go with CoP's lore.

Yeah, I'm still trying to rationalize how all of them fit together, might be a futile effort to try, but some of it makes sense.



So far it seems... Olduum was a branch of Kulu, I don't believe the Olduum got tied up with the Zilart with the rest of the Kulu, but instead they led to the development of things such as Alzadaal. During the previous age of judgement the gordeus was "destroyed", meaning that the Odin of the time won in that conflict, byproducts of this event include: the binding of the Olduum to the Underworld dooming their civilization; and the triggering the beginning of the crystal age.

From CoP we know that only the light of a person returns to the mothercrystal, the dark/emptiness of a person remains. Also, we know from Walahra that "all things return to the Gordeus". What if the Walahra reference is to the Promathia side of people that remains in the world, and the Gordeus can operate as a sort of "vacuum" or "net" to capture that remaining emptiness/darkness. Why? Well, Hades has similar ideas and attempts to collect that darkness/emptiness to himself in attempts to make himself more powerful. Thus the catastrophe effect when the Gordeus was destroyed. Did the Odin of the time know what would happen if he won? Probably not. Just as the current Odin of our time is fueled by his own sense of revenge, he may be unaware of all that is at stake. The exact "how" behind Odin becoming Odin isn't completely known. But Hades probably allowed the rage-filled Luzaf to escape the Underworld with the powers of Odin knowing that Luzaf would unwittingly attempt to destroy the Gordeus again, marking another victory for Hades.

Where did Hades come from? Is he a descendent of Zilart or Kuluu? Is he the Dark Divinity that the Kindred worship? If so, then Hades came into being at the same time as the rest of the celestial avatars, explaining how Odin is capable of summoning Kindred

i'm actually starting to think that mob might be Hades. with the several layers of hazhalm spiraling downwards, i think this is probably hell, or the underworld. and that dude sorta looks like the hades from ff7/9.

CoP happens to provide no distraction for the storyline, as Prishe's chest is deliciously flat.

All souls return to the mothercrystal when they are finally put to rest, but undead have never returned there. The underworld could just be a hangout for undead demon things, rather than a place that they spiritually go to upon death.

Afterall, even in the case of the Corsairs, they are undead and somehow found themselves trapped without a way past Cerberus before the Trolls subdued it so they could get out. However, its just the Corsairs, not everybody who dies like a true underworld.

For all we know, it could be like Odin's Valhalla, where somebody picks and chooses who goes there, and the rest go back to the mothercrystal.

Thats exactly what i was thinking when i read those mesaagaes...
Dead ppl go to mothercrystal... Undead ppl go to Whrever Hades is...
Hell =/= HTG UNLESS!!!! The Empire's Chimaera factory is in hell Which is likely since Lamia are undead and chimaeras
Okay.. so every mob in the game has its origins (region-wise) right? Except the undead... there really is no Undead "City" and since ToAU is death based why not add it now


also i was thinking Hades may be a sixth Terrestrial Avatar... Bringer of Death or something... its possible... we have a "God of life" but no death yet >.>

Testing grounds were made by the Empire to experiment in, idk why people think they are Hell. I would say sure, it's possible they "dug too deep"(lol lotr reference) or something but it's more likely it has nothing to do with the Underworld at all.

The breach to the Underworld was most likely from the Trolls in Halvung. They released Cerberus and cut a deal with Luzaf/Odin, who happened to have escaped from the Underworld. HTG is the source of Chimaera such as the Lamia/Merrow, the creation of which introduces some faustian concepts into the story. Pointing to "you know who" feeding all sides of the conflict for the sake of conflict itself, much like the multinational expedition. (and no, I wasn't referring to Voldemort... even if they do have a resemblance)

There are several areas that seem to be tied with the underworld:
-Ule. Range (the dark protocrystal was once here)
-Ifrit's Cauldron (the Ash Dragon)
-Halvung (duh)

Notice something? All of the areas have bombs in abundance (not only during fog or like only a handful spawn like every 15 minutes). Also, the cursed land of Tavnazia has their atomic clusters. I'm guessing bombs/snolls/clusters are spirits of the underworld or something.

Anyway, that wasn't the purpose of my post. Who's to say the alchemists who created chimeras/blue magic didn't make some pact with Hades (which could also be the name of the underworld) or something?
