Legacy of Kain series

One of my favorite game series is the Legacy of Kain. I've played everything from blood omen 1 through defiance. Here's my question. Has anyone heard anything about a new game in the series? A lot of people think defiance was the end because the development team was pretty much disbanded and its been like 4 years since defiance and no news of any sort from Crystal Dynamics/Edios. Defiance was way too much of a cliff hanger to be the last!!! Most secrets were unraveled and your left with who the real good guys and bad guys are, a hero with a super powerful weapon and nothing to do but go kick some bad guy ass and save (or not to save) the world.

Hoping some other fans in the bg world can help give some evidence. Last I heard, (rumor of course) was that, after finishing the newest tomb raider for the new consoles, they were gonna start on a new LOK. I can only imagine that it will come out for Wii and I'll get to swing the soul reaver around.

I was a pretty big fan of the original top down, even more of Soul Reaver, but I got burnt out by the end. Not to derail, but how was defiance? I've seen it dirt cheap but I was really sick of the Crystal Dynamis approach to gameplay. Aka block puzzles galore.

you switch off between kain and raziel every other level. It plays a bit devil may cry ish. use a combo attack to launch enemies into the air and follow up with an air combo/telekinesis throw/grab. lots of emphasis on fighting gobs of enemies at the same time.

The puzzles aren't to bad. Its neat to play through a level as kain with his powers, then as raziel (at different time periods, as SR2 left them ) and have to figure out how to get through the area with different powers (also time alters many areas).

only complaint i have was the camera. its fixed (kinda) you can look left and right, but when you let go of the camera analog stick, its fixed again. makes some jumps a pain in the ass.

My brother was really into this series, but I never was. What I thought was the coolest part about it was the voice acting. It was just so damned good. It's a shame that the old guy who voiced the Elder God in the Legacy of Kain series (also the villain in Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame) died of cancer a few years back

it was a cool set of games. i dunno though, it just felt too linear for me after i got through most of defiance. i'd probly try a new one in hopes it was more free flowing however if it wasn't i probly wouldn't bother

1st Blood Omen and LoK were great games. Such amazing dialogue and feel to them. The 2nd LoK was pretty fun, more involving puzzles then just pushing stuff around and dialogue was still interesting along with the story. I didnt even bother with Defiance. My friend who I talked to about the games all the time said it was horrible.

Ok, now that that's over with.... I REALLY enjoyed the whole series.... i got into everything. The voice acting was the most amazing part of it all.

To tell you the truth though, i really don't think there will be another one because there were completions in many parts of the story line. The only thing left hanging was when the Elder God said he would always be back. I mean, Kain had his story line completed as the defiant one "killing" the Elder God, and Raziel had his storyline completed as becoming the true form of the Soul Reaver. Everything fell into place.

Now I could still see them making another one..... but it would have to be about how the Elder God came back somehow and Kain would have to fight him again, making it somehow impossible to "kill" the Elder God... and we would end up with another Mega Man series where the final boss keeps coming back somehow.

Kain is the Scion of Balance, he was orginally destined to bring balance back to the circle and return the circle to vampiric hands. I could get into a very long and winding post about the story of this series, but I'll just say that its open for one more and the story is far from complete. I know Amy Denning stepped down from here position so the series is up in the air right now.

Also it was Tony Jay who was the voice actor.

Tony Jay was truly an incredible voice actor but by far one of my favorite roles from him was that waterbuffalo guy dude thing in Secret Squirrel. For some reason I thought he was pretty badass.

Nothing was really resolved involving the Hyldon<sp?> in defiance. they ended Raziel's story but I am sure there is still much to do involing Kain. LoK really stood out to me for its narrative, and the deep, convulated storyline(s). a shame it went more action-y in the end aside from its semi-rpgish nature of the first (well, maybe more zeldaish I suppose *shrug*)

also gotta <3 Kain's voice actor too XD

Glad to see I'm not the only one waiting for a new game.

Defiance did finish raziels story, but its not called the legacy of raziel lol.
To many people think he is the main character, and even worse when ppl call it "the soul reaver series."

As for kain, his story won't be over until the elder god and the hylden have been put in their place, the blood curse on the vampires is broken and they can return to their rightful place as guardians of the pillars to protect nosgoth with kain taking his spot as the guardian of the balance pillar.

Even if they don't finish the story, atleast we got this far lol. checkout http://www.thelostworlds.net if you haven't already. the guy that runs the site really broke down the first soul reaver game (if you couldn't tell it was about 50% incomplete, and they tacked a "to be continued" ending on it. He did alot of data mining and found hidden levels, cut scenes, and audio that told how the game was planned to end. Apparently, raziel would go on to kill all his vampire brothers (turel included, i know i spelled that wrong) then absorb the spirit of ariel which would give him a super powered reaver to kill kain with, thus ending his millenia of dominance. Lots of hidden abilities too, like a "shift at will" ability and a few more reaver powers.

Anyways, here's hoping I'll be slinging my wii-mote and killing some hylden and demon ass in the future.
