Yeah, more Silmeria outside the body would've been good, but I think they did the right thing in the end. Also, Odin is hard, just seperate your party and have one person take the heat of his attacks while the rest ass rape him. It's worth the hard fight, because afterwards you get Gungir for Hrist which makes her a beast.

I hope VP3 is all about Hrist, that would be great.

If you really want to make Valkyrie Profile 2 a joke level Arngrim & Leone to 40 prior to the end of chapter 3

I did this in one night as I just felt like fing around with the battle system. Ended up ruining the game for me because the weapons you get trivilize the game. You can also do this with Lezard & Dylan w/ Chapter 4 by taking them to level 50.

When clearing the game you get a hint about the seal rating. Knowing you had to send Lucian up is pretty obvious if you paid any attention to the story, as its pretty clear what his relation to Lenneth was.

heh, I remember figured out the entire thing on my own was pretty sweet. Knew there was another ending and knew I got the wrong one... Surt kinda gives it away as you beat the crap out of him.

Yeah, it took 2 playthroughs, but I managed to get it as well. I guess I just loved the game so much that I made sure to pay attention to every little detail.

only thing I didn't like any the VP series is the last boss in both of them. It sucks having to play with these characters for 40+ hours only to have each of them become pretty useless on the final boss.

Also, the lack of variation during NV2 annoyed me, I reckon all Valkyries should've had different versions (I loved Alicia's NV1) although NV3 is beautiful.

IIRC, you get a different ending if you beat Valkyire Profile 2 without Valkyire in your party. :3 did this a few months back... its very very slight ending change but it makes you wonder....

Yeah I know, but I could pretty much only do after clearing the SG a few times. Although ironically Valkyrie was one of my main members lol

I did it at level 60 /shrug just took a long time and max of every restoration item in the game... not to mention a party of archers lol.

Yeah, as long as you stay away from the final boss' moves that essentially instant-kill, you'll pull this off eventually. If he's about to use something that will most likely kill you, pop a random item to change what attack he will use..

Other than the first boss in the Seraphic Gate (the guy not the girl), did every boss afterwards take people 30+ minutes to defeat? I think Freya was the longest fight taking 1 hr and 45 mins to defeat just because I always had to bring someone back from the dead everytime she attacked. I never used the split the team into two parties and attack. Used the zombie tactic I guess. I found Freya harder than the Queen. Of course this is all in VP II.

Question though, in VP's opening, when Lenneth returns to Asgard for the first time in a while, she is greeted by Freya's little sister (something starting with a F as well). Did we ever see her again? (Played through once and got the B ending . Haven't had time to play again)

Also, whenever I see Ulmega post, it reminds me of his search comment months ago when we used to play FFXI:

I always get a good laugh out of it.

Yes, you see her again during some of the A ending sequences. At one point Lucian is emo'ing in a bunch of flowers in Asgard, and Frei (Freya's sister) chats with him for a bit about his problems with Lenneth.

If you did a perfect release after Gabriel (using his staff) you can make the fights go faster. Freya wasn't that hard, I had Hrist doing all the damage while 2 other people helped her build heat for a Soul Crush, equip the party with the right skills and items though, you can make them invincible. First Aid + Metabolizer or some other Healing ring + Lifeforce Blessing essentially cancels out every attack, making fights quicker because you can afford to be less careful. After you get Freya though, every fight goes fast once you get Heavenly Punishment.

Re: Any love for Valkyrie Profile?

why do people hold so much praise for zunde? i don't have him but i have adonis who, looking at his stats, is superior than zunde and they get pretty much the same moves and have the same soul crush

    edit: nuuuuuuu i lost like 120 posts ; ;

Re: Any love for Valkyrie Profile?

I think Zunde's release item is good (if release him around chapter 4?) but otherwise it doesn't really matter what warriors you use. By the time you get to Seraphic Gate you'll be using real characters.

Although Phyress is one helluva archer.

Re: Any love for Valkyrie Profile?

yeah well at the moment my setup is alicia/leone/arngrim/lezard all at lvl 28, trying to get them to lvl 40

leone/arngrim don't leave right after the zombie dragon(boss of dragoncrypt place) fight do they? (i can't remember, but i'm pretty sure it's after)

i used that refightable boss in my previous playthrough to level low lvl characters up (it gave like 200k exp when DA'd with Exp Pig Law stone) and i'm hoping to lvl those characters up with that

They leave shortly after. I went for the Bahamuts Sword & Valkyrie Favor by leveling them up to 40 on the Dragon since you can refight it over and over again. Those two weapons reduce the main games difficulty to nill

Re: Any love for Valkyrie Profile?

Rufus + Killing Thorn + Spirit up + Hydra = easy EXP

Valkyrie Favor + Bahamut's Sword = easy game.

I don't think Arngrim leaves right after the fight, but once you get to the cutscene afterwards they do (which effectively ends chapter 3).

You get Arngrim back pretty quickly though.

    Editted for sanity.

    Uhh, no you don't.

You don't get Arngim back till you are in Vahalla which is a pretty big chunk of the game later... keeping in mind Vahalla is the second to last dungeon in the game.

Re: Any love for Valkyrie Profile?

You know you're right. But considering everything else, out of all the characters you lose, you get Arngrim back pretty quickly.

Also WTF at that sentence. Man I must've really been out of it.
