    http://youtube.com/watch?v=7aYNorY5Snk
And Paco De Lucia is an epic guitarist

Anyone know any other awesome flamenco guitarists, or any awesome salsa guitarists that they can recommend?

I'm not sure how good he is at it, but Kyle Gass of Tenacious D is actually a flamenco guitarist. Went to the Juliard school of music and everything.

First video is impressing. I always try to practise spanish balad and stuff like that, but damn, it's depressing to see how much better some people are. I'm not even sure how he is playing some part

José Feliciano can sure play. I remember listening to him loooong ago growing up on dad's turntable. He had some great music.

José and Herb Alpert bot got a lot of play time. I wound up picking trumpet but I've always had a soft spot for a good flamenco guitar.

one of the best guitarists in the world right now(hes currently on the G3 tour). Paul Gilbert, hes not really a Fleminco player more of a shredder, but a great player should know how to branch off into different styles and this video proves it.

Not flamenco, but I always thought of gypsy jazz and flamenco as rather similar (I know that technically they aren't, that's just how I group them, so step off m3h nuts )

    That being said:

check out Bireli Lagrene as well, and the countless other similar guitarists.

Rafael Cortes is a pretty swell straight flamenco player, if you've never checked him out. I'm assuming you've checked out the Friday Night in San Francisco with Paco de Lucia, Al di Meola, and John Mclaughlin, that is an amazing fucking CD. The guitar trio's other CD is pretty good, but nowhere near that level of quality. One final little word of warning, be careful about mentioning Paco around old school flamenco guitarists (I don't even know how many of them there are these days, lawl), as they sometimes have a hair up their ass about his modern approach to flamenco.

Edit: Just to stroke my guitar knowledge peen

yep, him playing Flamingo because he says he cant really play Flamenco so he renamed it Flamingo. He also has wrote a few things he calls Gilberto Concerto which is basically him doing Bach with a electric/acoustic guitar and it sounds amazing. I saw him live at the beginning of April and it was amazing. (gogo Scarified)

Anything any other guitarist in the world can do, Jimmy Page can do better.

    (forgive the shitty recording quality)

^ ;X Imma be nice and bite my tongue.

Sephir, I bet that was a really good show; Gilbert always puts on some kick ass live shows. G3 is always a kick ass tour (although I'm not a huge fan of Eric Johnson, and I wish they'd have brought Uli Jon Roth somewhere other than Europe), but I wish they'd bring some jazz-fusion guy into it =\. Can you imagine something like Satch/Gilbert/Gambale :D? Legato, alternate picking and string skipping, and sweep picking all brought to the table in their most advanced forms (well, almost, you can't really beat Holdsworth for legato), I think I'd have a guitargasm  . If you want any guitar'y songs, let me know, I have a pretty enormous ass library of guitar instrumental music (from A to Theodore Ziras, I've got the whole alphabet covered, kekeke).

Finally, it seems people are kind of straying away from flamenco with the stuff they're posting, so I'm going to post these again, in the hopes that I'll actually see some feedback D:

    Tommy Emmanuel-Endless Road: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54tRcKFEUlY
    John Butler-Ocean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VAkOhXIsI0

They're both acoustic pieces, not flamenco, as I said, but still fucking amazing. Check 'em out

recently ive been trying to find some Mattias Ia Eklundh. I sampled a few of his songs on favorednations webpage (Vais record label) and the Cd sounds really good. its kinda hard to find stuff by him though since hes sweedish and all.

but personally, id rather see Satriani/Gilbert/Vai. As much as I like Petrucci's music he doesnt have the "live" appeal that those 3 have.

Don't worry just cuz I have 1000+ posts doesn't mean they actually like me round here ^.~

In Jimmy's defense tho, I'll just point out that those recordings were what I could find in 1-2 minutes by going to youtube and searching jimmy page. There's MUCH better out there, though when it comes to just flamenco you won't find much a whole lot better than the 3-4 minute mark in the 2nd clip. Also it's worth noting that he's playing flamenco on a freaking steelstring, which sounding even remotely decent doing that is quite an accomplishment in and of itself.

I have 2 or 3 of IA's albums if you want them; send me your AIM screen name. Besides his solo stuff, have you checked out his band Freak Kitchen? They're pretty cool, and they're rocking some guest solos by Bumblefoot, which is pretty swell <3.

Plow, there's nothing wrong with Jimmy Page, I just don't care for him too much, hehe.

Juan Serrano is a really great flamenco guitarist.

Also, do a search for Tango En Skai on youtube. Really great song.
