DETROIT - The NAACP held a symbolic funeral in Detroit 63 years ago for Jim Crow.

The civil rights organization will do the same this summer for the "n-word," the Rev. Wendell Anthony said Sunday.

Anthony, president of the civil rights organization's Detroit branch, said members and supporters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will conduct services and a "eulogy" for the racial slur. The mock funeral will be held during the NAACP national convention July 7-12 in Detroit, he said.

Now I am not racist in the least bit....

But to me the word still means "ignorant". The way it has been accepted as a racial slur throughout the years doesnt change that fact.

To me, that word could be used to describe any ignorant person, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender etc.

So this "burial" is great in for all intents and purposes for discrediting it as a racial slur.... but the word still has a meaning.

This event goes hand in hand with a news story i heard a while ago about something to the effect of (i dont remember that well) the state of alabama or something silly like that asking for an apology for the racial discrimination of the past..... (i cant remember the real story, but it was something stupid like that)

Nah ive played CoX, WoW, EQ2, L2 and all that. I know a lot of people use the Nword but im saying do they use it as a racial slur. I mean ive used the Nword myself but not in a way like "omg I hate black people dur dur". It's just another word you throw in a string of obscenties when you stub your toe. Maybe im just desensitized to the whole thing. In my eyes people like Al Sharpton do more to hurt blacks then help.
