Just turn on LGM status and voila. It's client side, no need to worry about detection.

It was a while ago, but I actually heard that they CAN detect whether or not you have Collision detection on or not (From Wiccaan I think). Its just that they would have to go out of their way to check. Only way they would know to check is if you say something though, or the 1 in a billion chance that they see you pass through a group of players/mobs without slowing down and know enough about the game to look into it.

Sorry about giving misinformation... I checked it when it ran all it did was change your status to GM, which is only detectable by you. But I am just a script kiddie, so yeah theres probably ways to circumvent that and find out that you're using it, so if anyone has any other info regarding this, please post. I don't want to get banned for this :/

Recast plugin only made available what is already available but at a convience.

Take out recast and all you'll be doing is spamming the marco till the JA/spell is ready again. How does that equate to being more skillful at playing a job?

Exactly the point I tried to make when I was called out for having Recast in my screenshots (By a bitch who was banned for POS hacking and has previously admitted to buying the gil she's funding her relics with).

Before I downloaded Recast, my chatlog was flooded with "Unable to cast spells at this time" as I spammed my Voke/Stun/Bind/whatever macro when it was nearly up and the results of my recast macro. I'm not one iota better now, my chatlog is just prettier to look at.

I dunno about the guy you're quoting, but I can say for myself that I started out on PS2 using the controller for several months and decided that I hated it. I hated switching my hands between devices. As soon as I learned about things like F# targeting and manually typing macros, I was sold on keyboard for good.

And in the interest of re-railing, my favorite tool has been the firefox FFXI Helper plugin. Can be found here.

I have a dual wield style, I use both.

Controller I use ALOT especially when trying to beat someone out on claims, fucking works great for that kinda thing.

Also, general movement, but sometimes I'll actually be using both the keyboard and the controller at the same time... but like for example right now, my controller is resting on my left leg while I type. Sometimes I'll use the kb WASD for movement and the right analog stick for camera movement... other times I'll use just the kb, and others just the controller.

Anytime I'm not really chatting controller >>>>>>>>>> kb, any other time controller + kb >>>>>>>> kb >>>>>> controller.

I have tried playing the game without the use of the controller at all... I can still do pretty well, but the controller is just better for movement, and it's better for targeting shit too. Except certain instances, in which case I'll use the kb. Charybdis room with that stupid Sahagin NPC in the back of the room, and similar locations like that come to mind.

I don't ever really find myself "switching back and forth" so much because I let my kb rest on my legs near my knees and my controller rest right near the middle of my right leg. For me, reaching for the controller is as natural as hitting anything on the numpad, or the delete key. I'm sure there's other setups with controller/kb that are even better than mine. But trust me, this shit works... and my friend came over, long time PC user... and he loved controller.

Not to mention for lazy bastards like me... wireless controller in the bed = FUCKWIN

How the hell do people manage that, by the way (call for help with H)? Last I checked, ctrl-h wasnt call for help? And yes, you can turn on autorun if you're in a panic, drop the controller, and type.. But if you're in a fight, and you need to be telling people what to do, or if something surprising happens (I know you and everyone you associate with is perfect at the game and needs no instruction whatsoever, so I included that surprise for you) you want to be able to macro, type, move, etc. all at once. And also, maybe you can switch between controller and keyboard both typing and playing simultaneously, but why go through all the hastle?

P.S. XBOX360 + Keyboard + 42" HDTV = Window always on top and always looking good.

This firexfox extension incorporates Xenoveritas' Vana'diel Clock and Skillchain Calculator, as well as quick access to maps, a bestiary, crafting information, items, NPCs, recipes.

If you don't use firefox, it's worth it to download it and use it just for this add-on.
