    Call your ISP and make sure your IP isn't being used by someone else, too. It happened to me before. I guess somehow, a new customer got my IP assigned to their home, and my buffer kept getting raped and booting me off FFXI.

    with a dynamic ip setup like comcast has, a quick reset on the modem will give you a valid ip address (assuming the DNS servers are working). Otherwise you're fine.

    Also, I'm not sure where you get that the whole 10.x.x.x range is private. I know for a fact that I don't have any 10. ips in my network, yet a tracert on the ip he listed gets out just fine, and goes beyond my dns server.
