Controller vs Keyboard

If I could open the magic menu(cltr+M) with the Select button on my Xbox360 controller, I might use it full time.

I don't understand this. I don't know about Xbox controller but when I switched from PS2 to PC i bought a PS2>USB adapter and configured my buttons the same as they were in PS2 FFXI (except no software keyboard on PC so R1 is my Ventrilo talk button). I have always cast of the menu my entire FFXI career and use macros for equip swaps. It's just X > down > X and then right/left arrow key to page down and page up. But yeah like people are saying maybe it just feels just as easy because it's what comes second-nature at this point.

i use both a dualshock2 with adapter and a keyboard at the same time. the controller is for movement and menus. the keyboard is for spells and macros.

If any one want to try a controller on there PC, I can post a pic of the configuration to have the buttons set just how they are on PS2.

If it isn't too much trouble I'd like to see this. I'm a PC keyboard only player, but would like to mess around with a controller to see how it feels.

Wait, huh? I don't know what you mean. Did you mean "I understand this?"

I personally only use a controller for claiming, keyboard and mouse for everything else.

Maybe I misunderstood what you meant? lol I thought you were saying, "I don't use a controller full-time because it is difficult to open the magic menu with one," to which I replied, "I find it just as easy to open the magic menu with controller as with keyboard."

Hmm, yeah that's what I meant. I'm talking about playing on the Xbox360, in addition to using the Xbox360 controller. I suppose it would be better to play on the PC with one.

Keyboard seems to be the absolute best reaction time for me, but I've been on PS2, 360 and PC so I've done a bit of everything. I find the simple stuff, moving around, checking AH, etc, easier on the controller, but anything I have to tank, etc, a keyboard just seems to outclass.

I like the 360 controller over PS2 too, probably because I have big hands and it just more comfortable to hold w/ its longer handles.
