I'd stick w/ staying asleep in bed cause those NMs ain't dropping shit anyway.

I was totally on BG mentioning PLD/DRK months ago.
After multiple failed attempts, we brought a PLD/DRK to the CoP 8-3 battle for a 300%-TP Souleater + Full Swing.
1500 damage, if I recall correctly.
Outside of that situation, I got nuthin'.

i've been subbing drk on pld every Vrtra fight since like last year. very cool for kiting something that can be stunned. so that leaves.. Vrtra. and who the heck cares >.>
it's a pretty cool combo though, but doesn't get the mileage nin sub will on most everything else.
might try it on JoL next as pld, tanked it as rdm/nin and pld/nin so far. stupid mob, need something to keep me occupied...
Vrtra was basically the main fight we discussed. /drk for doubled up hate move (flash+stun) and since most things we could imagine in that pit would knock out shadows with agas, the table was open to other sj possibiliteis. I mentioned /war simply for the defensive traits, voke, warcry/zerk(clicked off) and defender. /drk was mention soley for doubled up hate.
I can really see this being insanely good for stuff that hits for next to nothing like lesser gods and less. Doubled up hate + aegis to negate most dmg + cures to take care of any dmg ur taking. Tiamat? No way. Anyways, thanks for the thouts xavier. I will try it no doubt (after i get ragnarok of course. )
You can sub anything you want at that point, the HNM won't be able to fight back, they'll be too busy dying of laughter.Originally Posted by Tekki
It works well. Plus you can randomly hit 60mp aspirs and 120 drains for lulz. Really nice hate too; stayed pretty much glued on me over the pld/wars.Originally Posted by threevo

Chiz does something: "Damn, you're a retard Chiz!"
1 year later, Hey guys how does this sound?: "Yeh, it works great."
Am I missing something here? Not saying Chiz isn't retarded for other things (TA can miss, NIN/PLD) but maybe you all jumped the gun a bit.
In this topic, it's been mentioned that the mobs it's used on generally don't melee you much. He, on the other hand, went right up to tiamat's nose and ate the floor for it. I've used PLD/DRK on JOL and Ouryu, neither of which struck me physically much if at all. Sonix mentioned straight tanking vrtra with it, but last I checked it didn't have mighty strikes and only spams ga spells so it's pointless to /NIN it.
PLD/DRK for sure works on JOL.
But so would RDM/DRK which would have more hate tools and better MDB. Plus Chainspell Stun if you were bored as all heck.
Aerial Collision X3 is such a PITA.
wait why is it using aerial collision? 2 times ive tanked it, ive seen it use maybe 4 tp moves over the course of the entire fight @_@Originally Posted by Fng
The summoned mobs? Doubt Jol can do 3 tp moves simultaneously.Originally Posted by threevo
3x Aerial Collision happens when JoL uses Astral Flow and he has Shark pets.
PLD/WHM on Ouryu rapes face, esp w/ Aegis.Originally Posted by Ryko
PLD/DRK has always been good, it just has limited usability like Ryko said, on mobs that don't hit you very much, or don't hit hard. I used it for stuff like sky guardians and sea gods (not counting Prudence) and it was excellent. It's also great for Ouryu, and of course JoL.
If you can pld/war tank it, you can probably /drk it. That was the original "debate" - /war, /drk, /nin, on tiamat.
Of course if you can /war tank it, you can probably /whm or /rdm tank it nowadays.
Moral of the story: Therin level your white mage, and lemme hitch my monk on it.
