When I go into certain zones, such as Ru'Aun Gardens and Arrapago Reef/Ilrusi Atoll, I get HORRIBLE lag. It's not normal internet/network lag, because the lag is coming from my computer.

When I enter one of these zones, my CPU usage goes up to 99/100%, as opposed to 50-75% when normally running FFXI.


I saw others complain about this problem a while ago, I took about a half a year off from FFXI and returned about a month ago, the problem seems to have come about during that time during one of the updates i'm assuming.

I've done a bit of searching various forums, but haven't come up with a solution other than disabling the sound in the FFXI config, but I like to have sound sometimes, and i'm sure there is a fix out there by now.

Can anyone help me out?
