    Rng soloing to 30ish question

So, I've started lvling rng, and in low lvls atm. Posting to ask if anyone has advice on where to solo or a link to a good post about it from anywhere ont he internet? Obviously I could hunt one down but what im looking for is a tried and true faq, not some random crap that might be alot of bad advice. Thanks in advance.

Althought it may seem like you can solo alot of things, it's rather hard to solo on ranger if not impossible early on or at higher levels.
You have to think about how you can stop the monster if something goes wrong and you dont get Shadowbind or Status arrows and bolts until 20+

    But hey mines only 37

You can solo on worms in Shakrami/Korroloka/Qufim/Gusgen till 30. I solo/duo'd myself to 21 in Korroloka, then in Qufim to 26 or so and then I dual boxed my boyfriend's PLD to bodyguard myself and went to Gusgen and killed worms there till 31 (lot of worms there but surrounded by undead so it's pretty dangerous alone).

It's not hard (shoot from max range, run like hell when you see stonega, when I had TP I'd grab a quick occasional Gigas leech in Qufim and kill them fast) and potentially saves you from some of the worst parties in the game but it is slower than getting a decent PLed party through dunes and you will burn a hell of a lot more arrows/bolts. I just did it because during early EU evening getting parties is just way too slow so I could do an hour of RNG leveling here and there when I had the chance. After 30 though I finished RNG leveling off in a normal party in Altepa during a weekend, it just gets slower and slower the higher you get to kill anything. Never leave mog house without at least Selbina Milk either, worms love their Rasp.

I found once worms start using Stonega it was hard to solo T-VT ones. You can spam sleep bolts to pretty good effect and combined with selbina milk (or au laits), bloody bolts, etc you can kill them...it just gets more dangerous as the worms can blow off 1/3 your HP at a time with Stonega or Stone II. I pretty much gave up at Qufim.

If you have a PL or a RDM or WHM for Silence you could go further though.

The worms like others mentioned. I leveled my thf @ quafim purely with RA. I took /blm as sub, then tossed dots. Next, find the max distance between you and the worm. As soon as it's starts casting stoneaga run away and you should be ok. It was fun for a while, then it got annoying as hell. Ultimately I asked a friend to plv me :D

I soloed until about 22 or 24 I think; Shakhrami -> Korroloka -> Qufim. The basic strategy has already been noted: stand at max range, fire away, run when you see Stonega (you can usually avoid it). I went /WHM to cut downtime. Basically, you want to leave an area when the worms start turning DC, and not go when they're still too hard (e.g. 16-19 is good for Shakhrami). At low levels, soloing anything above a high Tough (4 levels above you) is just making things harder on yourself for no reason at all, as even if you kill it, you won't get more exp.

It's true that a powerleveled party that includes other people who can do reasonable damage to the mob will be faster...not including LFG time...and you might not get such a party. I prefer to solo because I'm completely on my own schedule without having to worry about bothering anyone when I want to take a break for whatever.

Edit: Another thing to note is that you have to get closer than max firing range for a WS to not just eat your TP, and even closer if you expect it to possibly land. Also, you obviously have to engage the mob to WS; I normally just inch up to firing range and start shooting. The other issue is that it might decide to cast Stonega when you start running towards it, which isn't so hot.

Like others have said. I killed worms alot, but I also killed BST pets (like giga leechs in qufim) to continue chains and whatnot.

Search for Blm solo guides, insert "shoot the crap out of it" where they put "nuke the crap out of it", and for the most part you will be fine.

I frequently solo jobs from around 15+ with a crossbow and acid bolts (later acid/venom/bloody).

Trick for me has been dancing back and forth at maximum bow range (which is monster max spell range). The bigger the worms get, the easier it becomes to dodge, and at 25 you're healing up anytime you get hit anyway with bloody bolts.

Whenever you get near 300%, let any venom bolts run down, sleep bolt the thing, walk up and WS with whatever, then sleep it again as needed. Or open with a big WS, sleep and back off.

Taking down IT worms at 20 in Qufim as a DRK/RNG may have looked silly, but it worked nicely.
