is there a strat on the buffalo? we had so much time and just couldnt fucking kill the piece of shit
uh, we had like 20 minutes, we started at the 15 minute mark, won at the 10 minute mark. we just brought a lot of damage and had 3 tanks, 2 plds and a nin. its hate reset move caused a few weapon skills to get range errored, but nothing too major.
People keep claiming the Buffalo is easy, but my LS has gotten it both runs we've made. This last time we had almost 17 minutes to kill it, and only got it to 50%-ish. We had 25 people there, and plenty of DD'ing jobs that are well geared. There's something we're missing... any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
How is your group doing enough damage to bring it down in only 5 or 10 minutes? Heavily BLM based (if so, how many?), SC + MB, TP burn (if so, how many WS'ers?), blowing 2-hours from everyone, what? I'm looking for as specific an answer as this awesome community can offer.

Win, I assume? How long did it take you from first engaging to his ass hitting the floor?Originally Posted by Ryko
Yeah easy win. I'm in eliseos's group so we started boss with about 15 minutes left (killed dogs in about 10 minutes but some weaknesses with mages tapped and virused etc), killed it with about 4 minutes left.
Are you killing the random mob spawn?
Depopped today at the 10 minute mark while we were holding it, not enough people went to assist eli in time.
I would like to point out (A little bit more specific then ryko) we had pulled the Brown Bird and began to fight it right away, at about 85% it disappeared (While we were engaged) at EXACTLY the 10min mark. The boss was easy, I was kind of hoping to get the marid boss just to finally down that fucker. I know we can do it with the right strat.
Me and Ryu were readying our weapon skills when it depopped, which would have killed it most likely, seeing how weak those random mobs are. Oh well, always next time.
We've killed it both times. Was just wondering if anyone had found a correlation between the pet and ease of the NM. Sounds like we're 2/2 on no kill and easy NM together. (if you can't tell, I'm grasping at straws here)
We just beat the 3rd chamber in Wing 1, dunno exactly how many got the clear, probably about 20. Another 10-16 should be 2/3. I think we'll try to get the rest 3/3 Sunday, so wing 2 info next week.
First 2 times we got single bats and manticore, 1st loss was something and marid(I wasn't there), our win just now was single bats/dark eles and wivre boss. We won with 30 seconds left...lol. Did not see a random mob.
Sorry if I didn't read the whole thread but we killed the boss with 1 dark ele still up, and the crate did not pop until it was dead, so you must clear everything.
Not cutscene after all 3 wins, I haven't checked the nashmau NPC yet, about to do salvage.
Sorry again if this is all old news but I've seen nothing of wing 2 info, or anyone else who's cleared 3/3.
We finally got some luck in Einherjar. Got a handful of bats and Wivre boss. Beat it no problem even though I traded away my last lamp like a dumbass and got stuck outside for the whole run (And I'm main assist and generally the tank for the mob we're fighting.
Siegrune chamber - 23 People. 2 PLDs, 3 BRDs, 1 RDM. 10 Bats (single) and Manticore. Brown bird popped, killed and got the message (will edit and post picture of text later today). Manticore wasn't too bad, hate got very screwy at the end. At one point I was resting across the room from him, and all the sudden bam drawn in. This was after I had died, all I had done after getting up was cast refresh and haste. A couple of DD also noticed their damage went up around the 30% mark.
Have everyone run into a corner, the boss facing the wall, with everyone else in between the wall and the boss. Because of it's knockback, it won't go anywhere. Just go berserk once you get in to place, it's the easiest boss.Originally Posted by threevo
Was our first time going in and I didnt make note of the names (or color) of the marid or bird. This was the day of the patch and 3 days later.
Our first day we got bugards and the marid boss. A bird flew by but we didnt kill it because we had so many other mobs. It depoped eventually im assuming. When we engaged the marid it kept summoning chigoes like crazy that easily overwhelmed us. I did not notice if the boss used PS, but we barely damaged the thing because the chigoes were out of control.
Our second attempt we got a ton of chigoes and the marid boss. This time we saw the bird and killed it and got a chest with items. When we engaged the marid boss, he spawned no chigoes, but spammed the PS move. Got it to about 30% manaburning him before we timed out.
Are there 2 marid bosses? Why would one marid spawn chigoes every 30 to 60 seconds and another not summon any at all? Has anyone else noticed this?
Thats wierd because my LS owned the Chigoes fine, the Bird depopd, then the Marid spammed PS like no one's business, and didn't spawn Chigoes...It seems as if there's more a Random nature to this then anything @.@
I should have been more clear. Our second run, Chigoes were our regular mob which were not hard to deal with. After killing those chigoes we engaged the Marid (Hildesvini) which did not spawn additional chigoes, but instead spammed PS.
Our first run Bugards were our regular mob, but the marid (dont remember name) spawned chigoes after we engaged like there was no tomorrow (similar to regular Marids). The Boss Marid spawned 3 chigoes at a time at approximately 30 to 60 second intervals (maybe even less, it was fast). Someone on the first page also mentioned having a marid that spawned chigoes, but i havent seen many other posts about it.
The only difference (that i noticed) was for the first run we did not kill the bird and the second run we did. One of my LS mates stated that the bird was named Huginn, and was pink. As I mentioned previously, it dropped a chest. I am fairly certain that the bird we let despawn from the first run was also pink.
Edit: The summoned chigoes from the boss had perma-blood weapon. Not sure if this is just a standard trait for the family or not (i dont really hunt chigoes)

Yea, we've just encountered Chigoes (Normal Mob), Hugin(Pink Bird, No Kill, Despawn), Marid Boss (Spammed Probiscus Shower)
We had 2 RDM/DRKs, Around 5 BLM, and 5 BRD, fill in with melee.
Handled the Chigoe's rather easily, they're quite squishy. The Bird came to us on the 2nd to last chigoe, but despawned after we killed the last Chigoe off, before w ehad a chance to kill the bird. I opened with Chain Stun on the Marid, followed by the other RDM/DRK, and we managed to hit it to around 60% I believe...however once ChainStun was out, it spammed the Shower till it was 99%-100%-99%-100% the rest of the fight. Only thing i've seen is maybe stun & zerg it down =/ it's not likely to be able to win if it spams that Shower.
