sorry for the necro but...
today i was killing marids for blue spell and noticed something I never really payed attention to : marids do lose their tusks once a player breaks them. since no one bothers to exp on marids maybe that was just ignored by the vast majority of player and i didnt find any info on tusks being related to something.
but the mob indeed changes (much like many other ToAU mobs from imps to lamiae) so i was wondering.. could this have anything to do with Marid Boss? i could guess tusks break with crit damage, so has anyone ever noticed them breaking on boss? or something changing later?

I dont see why it wouldnt work. Every monsters are limited by the number of instance in the .dat, and this one had only 3 chigoe iirc. Would need to double check tho.

Just checked the DATs and there's 12 Chigoes Guess it won't work lol

The "fix" of the marid boss makes it a bitch. Not only it still has the shower moves but it pops 4 chigoes every 30s-1minutes. The chigoes seem to like mages and rape a blm in 1.3 seconds. So after 5 minutes in the fight and 10 blm dead you give up lol ...

We're thinking about getting PLD/WHM with Phalanx II and earth staff to just diaga the whole group then let BLM ga them. The othe roption is to have 3 BLU who's sole job is to kill chigoes. They have a spell that counts as a physical crit, and they can use it on demand.

How hard would they hit a pld with phalanx/stoneskin? He could probably outrun them and come back in time for next diaga, then kite all 12. If you can spare 1-2 rdm or drk with w.pant, they could probably diaga/poisonga them as well and kite around the place.

he can spawn up to 9 , the easiest way is to have an AoE II-III order from your BLM PT , and have melee TP burn him . he rarely uses shower now.

and if i remember correctly those chigoes have En-Dispel or absorb effect on thier attacks.

Think a section should be made just to collect data of drops from Einherjar. Drop rates are so shitty that it would be an interesting thread to see people actually getting items. I do believe the drops are random for each Tier, but would still be interesting to collect.
