Re: Einherjar (Tier 1, create a separate thread for tier 2)

Okay, that's a good setup for it.

Marid is pretty easy once you get the concept. Bascially, just zerg.

Don't worry about stunning shower, waste of time and energy.

Shower is determined by how much Marid's current HP is. I highly recommend RDM/DRK. Don't leave nashmau without at least one, tier 1, 2, 3, at least one RDM/DRK.

    A) Give all the melee soul voice and double minuet. If you only have one bard, rotate that bard for T/N on all melees.

    B) Go up and everyone unleash 2 hour immediately, zerg it to death with Chain Stun at start. Oh also remember Lightning Threnody before Elegy.

    C) BLM stay back to -ga chigoes, can have someone with defense build gather chigoes together like a bard or blue and be the -ga caller. Pair black mage together, two -ga III will do the trick. Other pair heavy nuke. Don't worry about stun. I recommend putting your Corsair in your black mage's party. Bonus damage and wild card 2 hour might recharge MP.

    D) By the time everyone's 2 hour is done, marid will probably have 40% HP or less remaining. By that time shower only cures like 1000 or 2000 at best so it doesn't matter anymore. You can have your RDM/DRK focus on stunning if you want but doesn't really matter.

    E) Keep going and it will die.

Main concept: The longer you stretch this battle, the more likely you will loose.

Oh yeah, swap the parties before the boss fight. Take that white mage out of your double paladin party. I don't care what equipment your paladin have, they are not going to be the one that's tanking. Put that white mage in your melee party. #1 Rule for einherjar boss, benedict sooner than later.

Re: Einherjar (Tier 1, create a separate thread for tier 2)

From everything I've noticed, Shower seems linked to chigoes. Every few TP moves, or perhaps every TP move after a timer has passed, he'll summon chigoes with a TP move. If he goes to summon chigoes and finds that he can't (as when all 9 are alive and being kited, should you try to do it that way), he will use shower, otherwise he'll use a different TP move.

Granted I don't have as much experience in Einherjar as many people here, but we've tried Marid several ways and this has been my observation (we've settled on fighting it similar to how it is described above where I collect them and BLM -ga them). This also explains his early behavior when Einherjar was just released, he was glitched to never summon his chigoes, and as such would predominantly spam shower.

Edit: Also, all our attempts have rather been all-or-nothing, where it went incredibly smooth or where it went terribly like Neosutra's. So it's possible there is some middle-ground like maybe he will use Shower infrequently when 3 or 6 chigoes are alive, but not as often when all 9 are or something.

Re: Einherjar (Tier 1, create a separate thread for tier 2)

Ya, every time weve fought marid it has owned the shit out of us with a constant barrage of showering (even when we had melees 2 hour at start). I am hoping that having a bit more DD since the last time we did that, along with having a fast puller to get chigoes off, will aid in this. That combined with CSS at start and a dedicated rdm/drk to stun the shower later may help us push past it. We can clear any tier1 with ease, but keep getting screwed with this marid, and I would like to fix this. Thanx for the input.

I can't remember if Tier 1 bosses start to build resist to Stun but it's a good idea to just have 2 RDM/DRK's on Shower watch. And I'm pretty sure they nerfed the holy hell out of the Marid, it used to use Shower 90% of its TP moves, now it uses it like 5 times the entire fight. We haven't fought the Marid boss in months, so I could be wrong.

Yup belkin, they build resist. Chain stun isn't really necessary. Just be on the lookout for shower.

Re: Einherjar (Tier 1, create a separate thread for tier 2)

I mentioned this already but when you say they "nerfed" marid from not using shower 90% of the time, this is also the patch where the Marid started spawning chigoes. In its present form, if you were to let all 9 chigoes spawn and kite them (and I don't recommend this by the way, I'm just saying) he will use shower with the frequency he did in the beginning. However, the times when everything has gone perfect and sets of chigoes die before the next set is ever summoned, he hasn't attempted to use shower once, and the people assigned to stun it complain about how boring and unnecessary their task is.
