Well you have to alter something in the dat to make it display a different mob name..I hardly think you open the dat in your editor, look at it and in a divine splash of glory it magically changes.

Changing=altering. Two words meaning the same thing in a sense.

If I was divisortheory this is when I would pull the 'AH-HA MY PARSER HAD A KEYLOGGER ALL ALONG' card and hack everyone's account in one fell swoop. God knows I'd laugh, I'd cry, and at the end of the day, it'd be better for everyone.

Good thing I don't use his parser!

Hope you don't use Brandson's map pack in that case either.

You are really reaching with these comparisons now. Simple fact is if I go into Zhayolm without a RNG or BST it is physically impossible for me to identify which mobs to pull. Changing the .dat files allows you to do something I cannot do whatsoever making it a pretty blatant case of cheating.

Trying to rationalize it's no different than TParty or Map pack is pretty weak. If I turn off TParty, I can just ask the member what his TP is, if I turn off the map pack I can just label my own map, but you are doing something that is impossible for me to do.

I just think it's pretty sad that some people have to resort to tactics like this in such an eazy zone. We've had no problems hitting floors at required times, or doing boss runs before the update without the ability to identify which mobs to pull.

Cheating it may be, but within acceptable bounds in my opinion.
everybody in this world has lied or cheated in one way or another some time in their life, the difference is what are the acceptable bounds. saying anyone who has cheated in anyway isn't allowed to talk when they feel someone crossed those bounds is retarded.

I've actually thought of using this same trick in Sea for Aerns to tell which job they are (pretty sure they each have their own .dat, same as these), and I seriously doubt anyone would have any problem with that, even though it's the exact same type of change. As stated above, the only difference is practicality.
practicality is the key, SE didn't have to nerf TP return on multi-hit weaponskills until Relic Knuckles were put in the game. they didn't have to nerf Rusty item NPC sale prices until people botted the hell out of them. a lot of minor things are harmless until people figure out how to properly abuse them.

Dont' use it then. I for one always have a RNG in this zone since no mobs have a penalty against piercing, so it doesn't allow me to do something that's otherwise physically impossible.

I don't think anyone does have to resort to tactics like this. It just so happens I always bring a RNG to this zone. We lose a whopping 1 minute or so on the entire floor when using the RNG to pull. Changing the DATs saves like an entire minute from the whole floor. So if you think we "have" to use it then think again.

Also, the DAT thing hasn't even been mentioned by me in probably over a month, yet wafik chose to bring it up out of nowhere for some reason or another (inferiority complex maybe?)

When the point flies over your head that hard do you feel the wind from it? You're not really good at justification, that's like me saying that just because I can eyeball GoH range doesnt mean that distance isnt using an outside factor to gain an advantage.

(Note: I do use distance to keep mages out of GoH range, thing is I don't especially care.)

Trying to find this argument on our LS board about it but honestly the only thing you need to be a "successful cheater" is a situation where it comes in handy and a knack for improvisation.

Yes I have an inferiority complex over someone who couldn't do jackshit pre patch. We upgraded 9 peices of armor from multiple zones, and killed all 4 bosses back when salvage was still hard and showed people how to do it via LJ entries and such, discovered mysteries like the 4f N rampart in Zhayolm's 100% tele up trigger, etc. Think before you talk.

I took myself as BST to this zone knowledge came to light because this is what the zone wants - you to figure a pattern , and then deal with it accordingly. It's not hard either, as BST I'd run in and widescan the room, track it, engage, they'd /assist me and kill. Repeat for mob 2, then while they fight that, run to the next room and do the same. The zone presents many challenging things for you to do, and you eliminated those challenges. All zones want you to do things X way or not, should build your strategy around them.

The only reason I brought anything up was you complained how the zones / gears are going to be easier to get now, when you already .dat modded your way through it to begin with (posting requests to change gears models, adding noses on them [quite recently before the boards died actually], .dat modding Zhayolm which already was an easy zone) - so you already played it in easy mode, what exactly were you complaining about? That is why I said something.

    Night night.

Seriously lol >_> This has to be one of the more uptight sections on this board, and I'm sort of a bitchy hardass to begin with.

You sir, are one amazing human being. /bow Oh wait, you didn't do shit. Aurik! You sir, are one amazing human being.

Your constant assertion of superiority sounds like a typical napoleon complex to me. I stand by my claims of inferiority complex.

I eliminated one challenge which was more of a gimmick than a challenge considering that I can and have done it both ways.

He was already involved in this discussion, so it isn't exactly name dropping. Besides, I was giving him props.

    And yes, I get it.

I dunno, He-man never struck me as being too good with numbers. I'd say aurik's more like bender.

    Bender's pretty awesome tbh.

Bender's cool, but He Man is the master of the universe. Nobody's cooler than that.
