its just luck for ramparts i (had to) believe.
We have Peryton popped as first mob on 4F Rampart before and I pulled with steal
the members new to 4F rampart thought Peryton was the NQ mob >.>

did rampart farming for the first time with our group. We were fortunate to see 5 GW a dropping macha's cuffs. We've farmed the 2nd floor rampart several times in the past out of 4 full ramparts we've seen 1 NM
question about the 2f flans for the rampart:
Nukes seem to be the only thing that remove the spikes on their heads, and they regain them after a certain amount of time. Does going for the killshot with spikes on their heads count as a spiked kill for the rampart ?

Yes, it does.Originally Posted by NynJa
Beware: Spirits Within, procs from elemental staves, and Formless Strikes also remove the spikes.
Sometimes they never regain them.Originally Posted by NynJa
Are you sure? Our thf always uses Sicsorro(sp?), and we never failed the pop the rampart. Another thing I'm wondering, can you para/slow/elegy/req/silence/dispel them safely without removing spikes? We've usually just avoided casting any magic on flans... but if those works, it'd make the fights much quicker...Originally Posted by Arkanna
Yes you can cast any enfeebling magic on them.Originally Posted by alphacat
Arkanna: Not in my experience. Add effects from weapons have never took spikes off - even when we had an Excalibur there that Proc'd a few times in a row, for some nice damage, the spikes were intact. Sirocco is often used as well.
Formless Strikes definately will remove spikes. As for the rest of those, I dunno.
Perhaps we just got unlucky then, I don't know. But it was -definitely- an elemental staff proc that did it. >.>;;Originally Posted by Wizerd
Yea, I have personally used Sirocco on them while trying to pop 2F Rampart and I was worried if it could somehow screw it, but nothing happened; two times.
Not dia since it cause magical dmg. Not sure if dot matter or not, but the 1dmg it will do is enough to take out spike.]Yes you can cast any enfeebling magic on them.
Souleater never removed it for ut
Elemental staff/any weapon addde effect removed spike
smn physical blood pact = ??? (work i assume?)
Formeless spike remove spike
Dia or any magic damage remove spike
Dot = ???
Elemental WS =???
Physical blood pacts does not remove spikes.Originally Posted by Kaylia
Elemental WS's, I don't know. We normally don't use them just in case
Dunno if anyone said, but we make Light on them for the added magic damage when popping the rampart, SC damage does not remove spikes.
Uh, not from my experience lol.Originally Posted by Kaylia
The only time we failled at popping, dia was the only magic dmg that landed on it. I checked log many time after and couldnt find anything else. Engaging with dia might do nothing, but doing it when spike are on can probably kill it. Not saying that I'm right, but I cant think of anything else that killed our spike.Originally Posted by Wizerd
Killing them to fast will deffinetly ruin your fun >_<. And ruin your chance at it.
Actually, on that note, I wonder has anyone tried nuking the North and South flans down to 25%ish and then just kiting with Gravity while melee kill it off? I imagine if you nuke before the spikes appear, you could do it this way.Originally Posted by Kaylia
It works, a JP member who doesn't understand english and mostly doesn't understand "{Elemental Magic} {No Thanks!}" phrase nuked a flan to 40%~ untill melee finished it off while spikes were on.Originally Posted by Wizerd
Hmm, that's nice to know. I kinda want to try it next run, but I'm not sure it worth the risk of being hated by 7 people if it fails.
