2nd Floor flans.
What order do you kill them in? We alwasy kill them S, W, N, E. The Rampart then pops on the E side. Im not sure if it does anything, but I have seen exactly 2 Skirmish Phedro in about 20 rampart pops. Both of them were from the same rampart.
Really seems like we are doing something wrong and people are starting to skip out on Rampart runs because they are so unproductive.
Always do Boss on Rampart runs then. 2 Ramparts + Boss if you can kill without weakening, 1 Rampart + Boss if you can't.Originally Posted by Croaker
I think I must have been unclear on what my question was. If you kill the east flan last, the dormant rampart appears on the east side. If you kill the west flan last the dormant rampart appears on the west side... same for north and south I assume, although I have never done that.Originally Posted by Wizerd
Has anyone noticed an effect of where is appears and pop rate of NM? I know its a stretch, but I have seen about 50 gate widows and only 2 Skirmish Phedro and we have probably done 2nd rampart more often than first. Something seems strange.
NM popping = luck
period
however some NM pop more than often
1F NM pops pretty often than 2F, maybe since bomber is 50%?
4F peryton pop more than 2F as well, maybe difficulty of popping rampart since weather can be a bitch at times?
2F kinda very low pop rate, maybe because the rampart is almost a 100% pop for any group that knows what they are doing.
I've noticed this too - Peryton almost always pops when we do that Rampart, but only 1-4 of them. When Gate Widow pops, it pops in large numbers, usually 4-9 for us, and the Rampart is on often, too. However, 2F/3F don't seem to be on very often at all, and don't pop much when they are.Originally Posted by Arthars
Also, I knew what your question was Croaker, I was just addressing the discouragement issue.
ok, so.... someone please tell me wether I'm doing something wrong or just have horrible luck with salvage ;;
failed I think 5th attempt at LBC... last time we got it down to 3% before timeout, this time couldn't get it down past 65%. 27 runs and no completed pieces yet
setup: blm/whm, blm/rdm, rdm/blm, and nin/war in one pt. mnk/war x2, cor/whm, brd/whm, smn/whm, and rdm/whm in other pt.
spent just under 30 min on first floor for equipment, most everyone was geared up. Second floor killed all four flans (onemagic each -.-) and socket NM for an extra magic. Went up northwest after killing some mobs for stats/mp.
cleared first room and an extra on northwest wing on floor three, zoned up. Only thing we were missing was magic/mp for the cor/whm and a whole bunch of hp. Had all the melee and blms with hp but that was it
had about 50 mins at this point and went to kill gears. Ended up killing 9/10 because one spammed restoral as its only move. Ended up with 20 mins for boss due to crappy movements from gears.
So... then homing missile seemed to be erratic. Opted to just tank from front with 9/10 gears killed. It seemed to get progressively worse (tho maybe it was just me). First few times it didn't seem to have hate reset, then about 30% in it melee lost hate immediately after it HMed. Ended up wiping.....
So am I missing something completely obvious or just a bad gear-day?![]()
Mnk/war x2? Mnk/nin, all the time, unless that's what you meant.setup: blm/whm, blm/rdm, rdm/blm, and nin/war in one pt. mnk/war x2, cor/whm, brd/whm, smn/whm, and rdm/whm in other pt.
1st floor: 30min seem a lot if you aren't doing rampart. You can probably cut 5 minutes here. Imo, the fastest way is to run to the moth room and kill bombs/troll otw. Clear the room before portal, than path back and rape every wamouracampa until the party is geared completly. Send back someone at zone to go up as soon you're ready
2nd floor: Make sure 1 blm has magic at this point, and have him nuke the 1st flan at 50% (same with top one). No matter how many magic/mp/sj cell I have, you should always head south east. The 1st scorpions room SE should give enough stats cell for everyone in the main party (str/vit/dex/agi for tank, int/mnd for rdm and blm, and chr for brd). Have someone zone up while you're clearing the room.
3rd floor: Send someone with sneak/invi to the portal, and have the rest of the group run to central room. Pudding there drop SJ/Magic/HP/MP around half the time, so it's pretty easy to get the remaining cells (only thing you should be missing by 3rd floor, assuming you got jewed on the drop rate). 2 black mage can 1 shot those pudding (can kill 3 pudding by the time someone get to the portal), and melee can kill another one.
4th floor: Try clearing it if you have time , if not just run up.
5th floor: Always try to avoid HM unless its nerfed, even at 9/10. Both rdm should take cares of healing and one debuff (the one outside pt). Smn, cor and brd should take cares or erase/paralyna. Blm stun every time it turn to give 1 additional second to melee.
If homing goes off, turn away and dont give it any tp. Have your nin provoke (he should be out of range and still full), and healer make sure healer dont overcure mnk and get themselves killed. It should go down really easy with 2 mnk + 3 blm, and 1 nin as backup tank if homing goes off. Just need to be quick on erase/paralyna/cure.
Woops, meant mnk/nin.
wamoura seem to die fairly quickly the first few rooms without running all the way through for magic. Doesn't seem to slow us down much. Used to do it the way you suggested before they gave us the starter box, but I guess I can try that method again.
And yea, trying to eat HM even at 9/10 was a bad idea. Was the first time we actually managed to kill that many gears successfully so I wasn't sure what to expect.
Thanks for the input
My group always finishes with 1F in 24-26 minutes, killing everything we see on the way, often skipping 3-6 wamouracampa in the 6 wamoracampa room depending on gear drops. We go with WAR, MNKx2, THF, usually. The Wamoura/Trolls in last room are last, and magic order is either RDM > BRD > WHM > BLMx2, or RDM > BRD > BLM x2 depending on whether the first chest gave us 2 or 1.
On 2F, the melee go straight to the flan on the west, while 2 BLMs and RDMs toss 1 nuke each at the southern flan to down it. The BLMs and RDM head up the north one, and do the same, while we're killing the east one. Then we move onto the southeast room for stats, clear it and port assuming we got at least 2 STR (tanks), 2 INT (BLMs), and 1 CHR(BRD). If not, we clear the north stats room.
On 3F, we'll spend a little time on the middle flans if we're missing anything important, then port up to 4F with between 55-60 minutes left with any luck, 45-50 if we get jewed. In the latter case, we're only usually able to stay with the rampart for about 50%. I always leave 10 minutes to kill the boss, even though it only ever takes us 5-6min.
We only 1 have mnk, often 0, so I might be wrong with 2 mnk. Depending of our group and our luck, we are often done after the 1st or 2nd wamoura room (starting from the end), so it's pretty quick.Originally Posted by Zhais
Killing Wamouracampa on the way actually saves trekking time unless your party is larger in terms of DD, and depends more on abilities. As for my groups, we're usually 2-3 strong DDs, either MNK+MNK or MNKx2+WAR, so that extra 1-2 abilities we could have wouldn't speed us up enough doing it the other way. If you're missing out on more abilities than that, then going the other way would definitely speed you up.Originally Posted by Kaylia
quick question about ramparts (and one more specifically about the 2f rampart).
I havent really had the need to try yet, but could a thunderga III one shot reinforcements? usually now we only have 2-3 out at a time max, but occasionally it creeps up to 5 and would be nice to be able to safely clear them fast.
My 2nd question is to do with what removes the spikes on the 2f flans, i have read that the "fool proof" way is to just use physical damage only, but i have also read that doing ws / sc's can sometimes cause them to loose spikes, is that the case? Am i safe allowing my melee to ws freely on them, should i make sure when they do they dont sc, or are sc's ok to? We can pop the rampart np, but without magic / ws it takes a little longer than we could and we want to shave every second off we can.
Foolproof way to pop the Rampart is to let your melees kill as fast as they can, and use an AM2 spell around 35% (geared up BLM can do about 50% of its HP), maybe 25% if not geared/no weapon, just to be safe. The West/East ones, don't even bother nuking to kill, melees will kill faster.Originally Posted by Daiiawn
thats roughly what we were thinking, im usually the only blm and i tend to be moderatly geared by the time i reach them, does letting the melee kill as fast as they can include letting them ws/sc?
Yes, but you'll kill slower if you *try* to SC. Just have them WS like a meleeburn party. If any skillchain damage will remove it's spikes, then it's from full skillchain light/dark damage probably, so you're safest if you don't try to do it, but keep an open mind about random WS.Originally Posted by Daiiawn
We've done light on em multiple times for like 1k dmg + on the SC and haven't broken spikes so..
think its safe to assume SC damage won't remove them.
We've had SCs do like 3k and that does cause spikes to go down. So be careful.Originally Posted by Seditedi
kk thanks aurik i thought i had read of that happening to people. Next week we have 3 bhuf runs (assuming tomorrows zh run goes without a hitch), so i think were going to try a few things and see what works for us. We have no problems in popping the rampart, but obviously by not using ws/magic were slowing ourselves down lol
I've cleared this run a few times now, but it seems like many others are having a much easier time. I'm currious what routes are most people taking when going for clears and what time of time tables are people following on each floor?
Also a side question.. I've heard that poping other Ramparts also weak'n the boss in different ways, and that it's not just the 4th floor which will weak'n him. has anyone noticed this to be true?
On most our clear runs so far we have been using the following path
Floor 1 25 min, Normally take the west path for gear.
Floor 2 25 min, NW path kill a few mobs for stats and socket magic if we need it. (Any other paths better/faster?)
Floor 3 10 min on stats and max HP/MP
Floor 4 20 min on gears, if we kill them (Sometimes this seems like more of a hastle then it's worth)
Then on the boss floor we have 20-40 min depending if we killed gears or not.
What kinda plan does everyone else seem to follow?
