1F: 25-30min, we clear the entire floor for since we have 10-11 usually.Originally Posted by yuriku
2F: 10-12min, 4 Flans, then southeast to clear room for stats. If no STR or INT drop, we do northeast until we have at least 2 of each of these.
3F: 5min, I run to porter while group kills 1-3 flans in the middle for something we might have missed because of bad drops.
4F: 15-35min, depending on gear placement. If there's weather, it can take up the whole 35min, depending on if they decide to be 'tards.
5F: Clear in about 6-7min usually, sometimes less. 3 minutes for lotting.
That can be anywhere from 55 minutes to 80 minutes, depending on luck. If 1F Rampart is up, we use this extra time to farm Gate Widow. If it's down, we use the time on 4F Rampart, making sure to give 10 minutes to kill boss and lot drops.

Hihi guys, long time reader new poster.
Been co-running an EU Salvage LS on Fenrir for quite awhile now. We can do most NMs, but not the bosses >_>
Anyway, today we attempted this boss using the kiting strategy posted by here (thanks alot). We had 5 BLM/NINs, only two RDMs + one BRD unforunately for support. Anyway, we ran into one problem though, at 3rd floor someone screwed up and linked alot of flans so we had to warp, leaving a few without HP and gears/SJ (only BLMs had SJ). Still, we made the best outta it and came to the boss with like 25 mins left.
Got a SMN to tank him with Ramuh while the RDMs started debuffing. Our BLM/NINs started nuking and they got heavily resisted (most gears unlocked and two had INT). Anyway, some members started losing faith in this strategy and started bickering, so in the end we only had 3 BLMs that nuked and traded hate, which we got him down to 50% before our supports died. My BLM friend got hit normal 500 and Crit hit for 800 dmg when shadows was down and some suggest they should have gone /WHM or /RDM instead...
1st. Now I'm certain we would have won if we got the needed cells at 3rd floor, but the LS is questioning this strategy. And some still keep bickering that we need a full alliance to win this. They don't believe me when I try to explain the downside of of many people e.g more time farming, especiall since our LS don't have MNKs and can't split up. Any suggestions on what I should tell these guys?
2nd. Secondly, I was at the tele at 3rd floor, but my BLM friend reported one flans died easy, while the second flan resisted spells heavily. So what I'm wondering are they like the 2nd floor flans where some are weak to magic and others aren't?
3rd. Some says we need 40-60 mins IF we ever succeed in this strategy, what's the lowest time anyone has done on this kiting strategy? I'm certain this can be done in 15-20 mins, seeing how we got him down to 50% in less than 10 mins with 3 BLMs nuking only.
4th. We're having issues on cells distribution, everyone expect to get stuff unlocked etc when I try to explain only this and that drops,and some people needs cell more than you. We've a lot order, which we do on the fly since some zones loves to screw us with cells. It seems I always get the blame and people starts moan when cells doesn't drop (I refuse to do Arrapago because of this). How do you guys handle this? Just tell them to shup ut and think about the alliance and not themselves?
I'm starting to lose faith here and questions if it's worth doing it with this group![]()
Kewl thanks for sharing your time table, I'll have to try going NE on the 2nd floor instead of NW. That seems like a really fast clear time if it's consistant. I'm currious to know how you get it down so fast.Originally Posted by Wizerd
We typically have a tank pt setup like 2mnk/nin(with BB's), 2 whm, 1 rdm, 1brd. Then toss a few rangers (keep acid bolts on) and black mages in party 2.
Our monks are pretty well geard, with the exception of faith torques (go to hell JoF 2/25). Is there anything else your doing different to get it down so fast? Maybe killing mad bombers also weakens it in some way?
If people end up bitching, I personally would find another group. In my group, I'm the cell caller, and you really can't tell them anything. They just need to trust you that you know what the hell your doing. Salvage can take quite a while before any progress is made, so if people are not paitence, go find better players.Originally Posted by Moonguard

Salvage works as a group of people, a team. You don't see people soloing monsters here and there, unlocking 1 cell advances the group who is inside. Now if your team doesn't realize this, then tell them to see how the "big boys" do it.
Salvage veterans have mostly followed a pattern of not bringing bitchers. I've read about it in many blogs and discussion, aswell as doing it personally myself. Unlike dynamis, 5 mins lost in salvage actually hurts and can't be recovered as easily considering the lack of stats in there, so you can't waste any time there bringing fluff and fairy floss around to whine about cells.
totally agreed
brought a shady ls mate in
eventually his entire time is doing:
1. "i really need magic cells first to be useful :O"
2. "i need ability cells next arth really psych to do good damage here"
3. "can i get the body cell for refresh?"
4. "i'll take the hands if you dont mind"
5. all others u can think off
6. GTFO my group
7. never telling him to come again
Our group for Bhaflau typically consists of MNK, MNK, WAR, THF, WHM, RDM, BRD, BLM, BLM. Sometimes we have 3 or 4 BLM, if I have 10-11 people show up that day. I rather add BLMs than other jobs, since there is plenty of magic to go around, and it just means killing 4F gears is safer. With Feint, HF x2, Mighty Strikes, 2-4 Manafonts, Soul Voice, and Chainspell, it's not hard to down LBC in that time when you have no Homing Missile to worry about.Originally Posted by yuriku
Our weekday group sometimes does 2 Ramparts + unweakened Boss, if we don't wanna do 4F Rampart that day. We have better stunners in that group, so we're able to do it no problem.
Cause our weekend stunner's fail?Originally Posted by Wizerd

Hurry up and get it to 75 and show me you can stun, then we'll switch to 2 Ramparts+Boss there too.Originally Posted by Redness

Ok, thanks alot for the tips guys. Really appreciate, I think I'm gonna sit down with the LS and have a chat about this. I love Salvage, but the morale has been low lately because of these issues.
Ok guys i have a question here.
Well we dont have the dual mnks ot tank lbc, soo we do Ninjas.
dual ninjas bounce hate with provoke.
Our pt setup is this.
Nin x 2
Whm
rdm x 2
Brd
Blm = nuke
Blm = nuke
rng = range DD
thf = feint
blu = cannonballing
pup with pup healer
smn = diabolos netherblast and cure ppl
we start doing good brd sing double haste.
at 50% mages are out of mp, one tank die alll goes to hell.
Only 1 homming missles fire up, sometimes non.
Any tops you can suggest? maybe switch ninja tanks for war/nins?
maybe switch blu for blm? pup for smn?
does 9/10 gears killled in 4th floor is the same as 10/10? whatst he diference?
Last night was my groups first attempt at this place so we kinda noobed our way through it the best we could. I've been reading a lot of people chose the West path, we ended up choosing East. From what I can gather is this a never again choice?
We went in with 7 people: Thf, Nin, Mnk, Drkx2, Rdm, and Blm. The two Drk was unavoidable as it was, use those two or be down to a 5 person run. I was the Thief but also could have came Brd. I'm debating next time coming Brd instead, but I'm wondering how bad this will hurt our cell drops. I know we'll be missing Treasure Hunter for the 35s, but we started getting overwhelmed slowly at first then more quickly at the end of the 2nd floor rampart with the 7 we had and ended up just finishing off the rampart to warp us out after 1 NM. Admittingly, we blew a lot of time farming the NW hall and I now see we should have made for either NE or SE for better stat cells, but I don't know if this would have helped us that much more.
Main question is, can we do it again with this set up, or should we rework jobs. We had a person who could go Blm or Brd absent from this run, but I'm unsure if just that one person would make a huge difference on the outcome or not.
1. Get your blms to help cure, IDK about you but ours have to be reminded sometimes (else they stand around with their head up their asses (not stunning.))Originally Posted by Alcarin
2. If your mages are running out of MP, you need more refresh, or, more resting. The ToAU ring helps, hell a vermy on your rdm helps if no dalmy/morrigan's. I never get a brd in my party, but brd with Storm Fife (quite important) can help out a lot. Otherwise your mages need to manage MP better cause all you're doing is tossing cure IIIs erase and paralyna, and with sanction, storm fife brd, a refresh body, and ToAU ring and RDM refresh, you really shouldn't be running out of MP...
3. I believe one of the big reasons for MNK tanks (or nin in your case) is they have a good chunk of Subtle Blow, which helps keep the boss's TP attacks low. So swapping for war/nins would be bad in that regard.
Having the pup go smn (more refresh, more MP, etc.) might be good if you're having problems with your tanks dying.
Side note about pup, I've only partied with one once (I realise salvage is a far cry from an exp. party) but he had the whm head or w/e, and it did paralyna/cure V very reliably, and from what i understand if it runs out of MP, you can release it (if it has full HP which it might not in that fight) and reactivate and it'll have full MP again. Though i'm not a pup and have very little experience with them, so I'd say have him switch to smn and see how that works.
Keeping 2 erases in tank party at all times is very important, you have rdm and whm so you should be fine there.
Wiz will come in and shed some more light here, as I'm just the back-up rdm refresh whore in the blm party (lol) but I get a lot of time to watch what goes on. So yeah. Good luck on your next run.
2 hasted/marched Ninjas are just a bad idea on the boss. Just about any melee job can tank it well, but nin will be attacking at 100 miles per hour and getting owned on TP moves. One ninja cotanking is fine, especially for recapping hate after HM, but I would put just about any other melee in there (war, drk, mnk, sam are fine).
For all bosses if most of your mages have less than half of MP just disengage and tank with your back to boss or kite it (would be really easy on NIN in nighttime).
Still will be hard at 25% due to TP regen but can zerg it down at that point.
Too bad chariots hit like trucks and unless your tanks both have voke, they're bound to get hit due to them not hitting slow or liking to miss. MP will still be used. It'll be less, but it's not a failsafe.Originally Posted by Geli
So my group got upto LBC w/ 40min on the clock. mnk/mnk/smn/whm/thf/blm/brd/rdm. Figured we would just whittle him down steadily w/ mnks and just have the blm burn off the last %. All is going well but bind is stuck on us to long @ 61% we eat a homing missile recasts are crappy mnks go down. THF holds it till mnks are unweakened we go back at it.
Now here is the reason I'm posting for whatever reason LBC was no longer double attacking/zanshin/being a cock. Instead he was just doing single attacks mixed in w/ TP moves, this continued on till basically 16% where the blm pulled hate didn't move and got us another homing missile. So I ask why the heck would his attack pattern reset if it was never a complete wipe? We didn't kill anything outta the ordinary anyhow. IMO it's not possible for something to just fail double attack so horribly where it didn't get a single double attack off in 40%~ of it's HP. Was this a glitch or have other groups had similar experiences?
