    Re: Salvage - Bhaflau Remnants - thread2

I think the PHer idea was squashed after it was decided you would have to hold all but the last and people stated they got the NM as the first pop. Not sure about killing at the same time though. Btw "assuage" nice word lol, I looked it up out of curiosity for a more specific definition

The PH idea isn't exactly squashed. If the idea's right and the NM comes as the first pop, it would mean the PH is monster#1 and you'll probably see 8 NMs. On the other hand, if the PH is monster#5, you'd see 0 NMs and curse SE for a week, when in reality keeping 4 non-PH monsters sleeping and only killing #5 would have been much more satisfying.

I'm not saying I believe this or not, only that it's not been squashed and apparently not fully understood.

I am by no means well versed in programming, advanced game mechanics, or .dat mining, however I was wondering if this is possible? Can you have a random PHer as you describe above or does it always have to be the specific one in the dats? The only experience I have of reading or messing with .dats is back when Ulli had a PHer and people commonly renamed that 1 PHer in the dats to something other than aura statue. With other lottery spawns such as LL or VE it's always a certain position on the WS list which I am assuming is in relation to its position in the .dats. Am I correct or incorrect here? If it can be a random PHer that changes every time you enter the zone what would be mob examples of this?

It's really possible to program it however you want. It would take almost no extra work to make the PH random. I'm not sure of any "real world" (in terms of non-instanced vana'diel content) of this, but since Salvage instances are created as you enter, it's easy to do. Look at Nyzul Isle for example, they create it relatively randomly.

Another example of doing something random that they wouldn't normally do elsewhere is Silver Sea Remnants, where one of the 4 Ramparts to unlock the door to Citadel has more HP than the rest and is in a random position; however, if you rename the DAT files, the unlock one is always a different one in the DAT.

That's an excellent example thank you. So true, I guess it could be possible that when you enter or spawn the rampart 1 of the 5 or 6 (I can't remember how many there are?) is randomly chosen to be the PHer for the run. It'd be fairly easy to test if once the NM pops you let the rampart spit out the rest of the mobs, killed NM, then only killed the "PHer" respawn. I imagine youd know fairly quickly after some repeated testing whether it's accurate or a pure lottery. We've filled most of our demand from bhaflau ramparts but if we happen to farm them anytime soon I'll try this out.

Another idea was brought up about possibly having to kill colibri simultaneously, as we had done with the triple gears to enter. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
We didn't do anything special to get pops like that. We always just go and kill everything in sight. Most of the time (on any rampart) we'll get 0 NM pops, but sometimes you get lucky and get 5+ NMs. It's very weird.

    Re: Salvage - Bhaflau Remnants - thread2

We have done Bhaflau for god knows how long, always popping 2nd floor everytime we do it. Probably average 6-8 runs a month for 4 months now and no sign of Skirmish >_> Starting to think he doesn't exist.

We're heavy DDs group, so whenever we do this we hardly see two bees. Today our war died on the flan (subbing sam to test out WSing is a bad idea ) and we ran with 7 only. While unweakened we had a little trouble killing the bees, so we had 2-4 out most of the time. And what happened, Skirmish popped O_o And not only once, but total 5-6 times. (yes we lost track lol) Two Skadi dropped but none Usukane. I thought it was christmas all over again Might be an coincidence, but the last 35% I think when everyone was back on track and we killed the bees very quick, standing there waiting for the next bee to pop, Skirmish never popped.

Gonna test this out more since Usukane is high demand so we pop it everytime we do Bhaflau. Gonna at least let all 5 bees pops and kill them all to see if SE random an PH. Also we notice everytime the Rampart does spit out the NM, we see at least 2-3 more NMs coming out. When NM pops we usuall focus on the NM only. So after NM is dead 3-4 mobs are out, taking us a few rounds until we're back on 1 mob left then.

    Re: Salvage - Bhaflau Remnants - thread2

So far, my group is 100% for being skunked on NM pops from Dormant Ramparts. We've spammed 1st and 2nd floor ramparts twice a week for over two months now, and we have seen nary a spider nor a bee. We've recently begun adding 3rd floor Rampart to our rotation in the hopes of finishing my Ares's Gauntlets, and we've not seen Zebra Zachary either. I keep hearing horror stories about how it's all just random, but I'm forced to wonder that if indeed the chance of an NM popping is based solely on a dice roll, then given a sufficiently large sample size, one's results would begin to resemble the rule, would it not? Out of over 16 ramparts spawned, that is over 1600 chances for the NMs to appear. Were this based on a simple percentage chance, unless it was rediculously miniscule like a tenth of a percent(0.1%), logic dictates that our results would resemble the rule. So I am led to the following conclusion:

    1) The pop rate for rampart NMs is less than 1%. I say this because 1600+ pops is a sufficiently large sample size, and a 1% pop rate should approach a yield of 16+ pops over a large enough sample. We have killed 1600 normal mobs, no NMs.

    2) If (1) is false, then there is some condition that is affecting the NM pops, be it an adverse affect due to something we are doing or not doing, or a positive affect that our group has not stumbled upon.

Obligatory bitching/use of swear words: We have so many guys who are 2/3 on shit right now that need rampart NM drops, and we can't get the fucking things to pop. It really frustrates and demoralizes us when we don't even get the opportunity to fight the mob we need, that even then doesn't drop 100%. I was under the impression that this type of crap is what pissed people off about Zilart Kings; not being able to fight the mobs who drop the gear you want. I understand it's different in this example in that there isn't someone else claiming your mob, but I feel the comparison is valid. If the fucking thing won't spawn in the 100 minutes/life of the Rampart that we have to fight it, we still can't fight it. I find it more than just a little backwards when an area boss isn't the biggest roadblock to getting what you need. I really feel like the playerbase who does Salvage is due an explanation or some fucking changes. Sorry for the short rant, I'm just getting more and more frustrated with these Rampart NMs and their pop faggotry.

    Re: Salvage - Bhaflau Remnants - thread2

Every pop is definitely not a random chance itself. Idk how much (maybe all maybe none) is "random" but I am pretty sure that there is not an equal chance for each monster pop from rampart. There is at least something else to it. I look at it more as how many ramparts I have done than how many pops. So your group would be 0/16. I've done bhaf many many many times for a year now and have had much worse than 16 ramparts with no pop streaks. I've also had several rampart pops in a row.

The biggest thing I have noticed from all the farming runs of 100%-0% is that if one pops before 50% 2+ more almost always pop. I know several salvage groups on my server + from reading forums this is the same for most ppl. Therefore, it is very unlikely that each mob spawn has an equal chance and I like to look at it from a "did this rampart spawn nms or not" perspective.

Now if it is a % chance for when a rampart is popped that is already decided (maybe when you enter rampart a random number determines the % chance nm(s) will pop) or something else i do not know, however it is not likely that each mob pop is always the same % chance on every run.

If there is something to help nm pop % then my best guess is letting 5 out and killing them fast then letting 5 out and killing them fast and so on. I am in no way saying this is a for sure thing that will increase your pop % it just has been that we have seen drastically more nms since we started doing this a few weeks ago. We have even gotten a lot of 35s from them^^ (another 35 usu feet tonight ). For the last 10+ bhaf runs we've been on in the last month we've seen multiple nm spawns from at least 1 of the ramparts everytime using this method. Even if this is the trick for the nm spawns it is still just a better % chance you'll still see no nms from ramparts fairly often.

I definitely don't have enough data to know if this really helps + I haven't kept everything else controlled and I haven't taken measures to assure that my data is even truly random so that it can be tested. So I can't say this method works for sure, but if you haven't seen any nms for a long time then might as well give it a shot. This also explains why noob groups always get bhaf 35s where when my shell did bhaf runs we rarely even saw nms till this method lol!

edit: ya i forgot to say that someone posted pretty recently that the mob spawns were named diff and thats why my group started trying this. That also seems to give some merit to this being a good idea since maybe one of the 5 is a ph

Durning a NM run in Bhaflau, I know that the Rampart pops out 5 max. Would it be smart to sleep 4/5 and kill the 1 that keeps popping? I know that there is a Place Holder, does it matter which one?

If I am understanding the theory correctly I have to say I'm more than skeptical. In maybe 10 Mad bomber pops we have 5 Macha's Cuffs and one Marduk leg 35, and we never have more than 3 chigoes out at a time, certainly not all five. We saw 3 Widow's last night and all were popped with no living chigoes present. We see far more NMs than 5 NQ alive at once. If I had look at my own experience and look for a pattern the only one i see is that it always seems to be the 6man runs that result in NMs and drops, if i take 8+ in we have never done well with the NMs. I dont think it means anything at all though

Well, for like the 800th time in a row, we had a flawless run with nothing to show for it.

Mad Bomber was not up (getting really f'n tired of that.)
We got 2nd floor Rampart..... zero NMs.
    Skipped 3rd floor.
Pulled 4th floor flawlessly with 20 minutes left for the rampart.
We got 1 NM pop on 4th floor at 57%. No drop.

First time ever I saw a rampart only spit out a single NM.

What? O.o From like at least 20 kills on LBC, we are fed up seeing Phobos. Last one almost got lost and the one before that too, which went to a WAR37 because no one wanted it. A total of around 10-12 Phobos for us. We've even seen double drops on this item more than once:

On the other hand, we've only seen one Tsukikazu haidate. We are about to try all kind of voodoo stuff now, like making different people activate the run instead of always the same person, etc. I keep reading about people getting the same drops over and over with a little change now and then but on different patterns than my group... anyone has any theory about this? >_>

Also, 4th Rampart Peryton has never poped for us in 4 months (or more?) ^^

My LS is 6/39 on Mad Bomber being up. We all calling fucking bullshit on the 50% chance. See 4 widow, never got a drop. And it's pretty much the only stuff we need that is left from Bhaflau. 2 more boss pieces and runs will be 5min long. Go in, no MB, use flies....
