No wind weather ~8.6 still no aggro, haven't had a chance to test it out fully on wind weather, but I'd say it's double).
Their sneak/sight aggro range is different. Hard to tell which direction gears is facing, so it might be what caused the difference.

Do your monks tank with counterstance up? Ours don't and they definitely see a huge decrease in damage taken when we kill east chariot (from like 250-400 a hit to 150-250 a hit); it might not make a difference if your defense is already shit though.

Not using counterstance is silly, though.

Using counterstance gets you nearly one-shotted on Armored Chariot. <_<

Edit: Oh, and more to that whole increasing Rampart pop rate thing: it's not gonna happen.

Last night I went in with 4 people, RDM DRK THF NIN, with the intention of Mad Bomber > 2F Rampart, and brief 3F if it was up (until we got overwhelmed). MB wasn't up but 2F managed to pop 4 Skirmish Pephredos and I remember to change the DAT files this time.

Anyway, of the 4 that popped, the one they would have popped off just popped one later, and 5 bees came out while we were killing the NM (so we had NM + 5 bees, 6 mobs). It was something like this, pop order-wise:

    Hunting Wasp 1
    Hunting Wasp 2
    [Hunting Wasp 1 dies]
    Hunting Wasp 3
Hunting Wasp 1 [Hunting Wasp 2 dies]
    Hunting Wasp 2

..etc so that the lowest one not out always popped (as explained earlier in the thread).

When Skirmish Pephredo popped, one would expect:

    Hunting Wasp 1
    Skirmish Pephredo
    Hunting Wasp 3
    Hunting Wasp 4
    Hunting Wasp 5
(Here it would either stop, or use #2 again since all others were used and it needed something to pop)

However, the result was something like:

    Hunting Wasp 1
    Skirmish Pephredo
    Hunting Wasp 2
    Hunting Wasp 3
    Hunting Wasp 4
    Hunting Wasp 5

Which basically means holding specific ones and letting certain ones repop will not increase your chances at an NM popping.

In other news, the 4th bee dropped my Freya's Mask, and 1 Zebra Zachary popped in 20% of the 3F Rampart before we got overwhelmed (no drop, but first time seeing him!).

If you can't tank well, maybe. If you don't know how to swap in -dmg gear, maybe. In general, not using counterstance is silly. Per Boss, I probably have my shadows down (I have emnity merits, Usu feet, etc over my co-tank) between 3-5 instances. I get hit maybe one time per run, and beyone that there are plenty of times that they will double attack or triple when you're sitting on shadows to recast ichi, and of all those times, I still get hit on average of one time per run, and that's because of counterstance.

Thanks for the info for bhaflau though, fucking gay SE.

One unlucky MR with 1 or less shadows up and you're dead or close to it, though. With counterstance up, a full MR <25% will certainly do over 1200 damage, and personally I tank in about 1360-1400 I think (since dropping my Melee Gloves for Usukane Gote). I dunno, I just don't like the risk of a quick death, however small it may be. The best tanking in the world can't save you all the time. And -dmg gear I don't have, since I don't tank HNMs on my NIN, nor am I about to invest money into it just for MNK while trying to fund a relic. <_<

... damn it =/ Well, this is pretty much horrible news. I guess it could STILL be tied, but what one would've expected for this to really be taken seriously was if the rampart stoped at 4 bees + 1 NM and not 5 + 1.

Watch this end up being that you have to kill the pops in a certain random combination >_> Or worse, watch this just be indeed chance.

Edit: Under this view, and just to keep on going because i'm bored, would it make sense to keep all the bees up and asleep and expect an NM to pop? If such, could this even help the pop rate at all? Bleeeeh.

Sad news indeed. I'm personally 0/2200 on even seeing Skirmish Pephredo. The shell I'm in has seen them only when I'm not there (with 2 or 3 drops), but when I'm there, no dice. My LSmates tell me the bee is red and I guess I believe them. Shit, as far as I know the bee is Adaman purple. I hate Ramparts.

Anyone else have a record as bad as mine?

Just a note on Skirmish Pephredo. LS got it to pop 4x today (Darksday 76% moon 17:00-20) he claimed rampart with with ninjitsu blind tools (dark based). people posted on wiki they got more pops on earthsday (is it far fetched to think they claimed it with slow?).

Is there a pattern here or am I over analyzing with elemental claim(matching day) ==> NM's pop? if it does work out even small dot or nuke would be well worth getting 3-4 nm's to pop off the rampart.

I know the sample size is small, i'm still a salvage noob =/

I think it's just luck and you don't get more bees to pop because you faced SW and casted Jubaku: Ichi on the Rampart at 13:37 on a 100% Full Moon Darksday.

in wotg update bombs blew up when you casted spell of the day on them, this isn't too far fetched. i'm not stating direction or time of day, or moon cycle other than that is when it happened. the main detail was darksday + darkbased spell to agro caused 4 bee NM's in this case, and in other case it seems slow on earthsday worked.

I know you didn't there's just been so many theories about ways of getting more NMs to pop from ramparts, and I just think it's all luck >_>

I do, yrp. Was on Zebra Zachary, claimed rampart with blind(edit: oops, on darksday) and the very first mob was the NM.

It's a nice theory but it doesn't work. Keep claiming with the element [of, strong to, weak to] the day [current, on which you entered, etc], and it won't take you long to agree you just got lucky this time.

Because you've obviously also tested this and know it to be bunk? How about you shut the fuck up until more of us can go out and actually test something regardless of how silly it sounds and prove it to be wrong first? If he's right, then goddamn what a simple but subtle way to get NM's to pop from the ramparts. If he's wrong you can say "Told ya so" and fade off into the no-one-cares-about-you-anyway distance.

Although i agree that this is probably just a far fetched wild guess that ends up being a coincidence, i don't see any harm in testing this out. Remember how Djinns reacted to elemental magic casted on them related to the current day? Yes, i know they repatched it and made it so that this wouldn't work anymore, but there is a precedent of "something being trigered by an elemental action related to the day". Considering we are running out of stuff to try out, i think it's worth a shot =P

Call for Blind on darksday > 0/100 pops too.

I've obviously never tested this theory in the months since it was first mentioned here, certainly not on at least 30 0/100 ramparts on assorted days or with strong/weak/equal elements. You should totally get excited about testing this theory, since nobody else has in the months since it was first brought up here. Enjoy!

If you'd have read the thread, you'd see a a lot of people already tried it.
