I remember getting a pop on the first 3-4%, then 2 more soon after. Got nothing for 80% and finally got 2 more in last 10%Originally Posted by Lyriane
Max i seen was 8 spiders. 1st pop of the rampart was one, then it poped one regularly, except once where a new one poped while we were still killing the previous.Originally Posted by Lyriane
Your credibility drops to 0 when you post about things that literally are not possible in the game. A new NM will not pop until the body of an old one has disappeared, no matter the circumstance.Originally Posted by Silpha
Edit: Also, seen 11 widows once with my JP group.
We actually get better pops when we a) Yell at the rampart & talk a lot or b) tell lewd jokes. I shit you not. What does this mean? Nada. Yes there is probaly some combination that triggers the Ramparts to be "Active" or "not Active" but is it anything more then a /random generated on enter, or some seed based of day/clock/moon/number in zone/race/who has pants on/how many mithra are actually manthra/etc, who knows and honestly I doubt we ever really will know it. I mean of all the zones BR seems to put out pretty easy. It's not a huge blocker like ZR frogs were.
The secret to the ramparts is probably along the lines of the secrets to AV, some epic joke to SE team, where they watch and giggle about how we have no clue how to kill it, when its so blantly obvious to them...
Dont believe me if you want, i just know for sure that the moment my spider hit 0 hp and i changed target, another one was running to us.Originally Posted by Wizerd

When the .dat only has one listing of the NM, it is literally impossible for the game to spout out 2 at once. It's the way this game works, each monster in FFXI has it's own entity and listing even if it's duped - Jailer of Love can only have 6 Ru'Phuabos at any given time, so it has 6 listings, BCNMs only have 3 maximum instances they can have at any given time, so there's 3 listings for each mob in the BCNM areas (except for obvious "spectator" ones like Ghelsba).Originally Posted by ullquiorra

I dont know about .dat things, gonna try to learn more of those =)
Either in salvage or on Ramparts, bodies disappear a lot faster than normal monsters. Normally it'll take 15 seconds for a body to disappear, however in these areas, it's reduced to 5 seconds. This allows for more pops if you happen to kill slow and get stuck with 5 at a time, and also allows for faster pops on NMs (since if a body is still there when it finishes reinforcements, it can't pop *that* one).Originally Posted by Silpha
Given this, the most that could have happened for your group was a Spider popping as the old body was finishing disappearing, not while the spider was still alive or directly after defeat. While it may have seemed like you were still fighting, you weren't.
Quick question about LBC; Would it be counter productive to give the body boosts to our tanks on a boss run? On one hand, the extra HP makes me feel safer, and since we DRK tank just about everything the extra damage from Dread Spikes and the possible SE/BW gank is very appealling, but wouldn't it also have the nasty side effect of increasing the damage dealt from Homing Missle since it's percentage based? Thus resulting in more cures, more mp being spent, more hate on the mages. Who do you guys give the body boosts to? Our chariot setup generally looks like: 2xDRK, WHM, RDM, BRD, PLD.
Nerfed LBC I don't see tanks with 2k HP being a problem if the tanks are taking 300-400 damage HM's, but the thought of getting HM'd for 1400-1800 damage on an unnerfed one has me second guessing the benefits of these Body Boosts.
I'd say use the body boosts and don't get hit by HM. On a fully weakened LBC (10 gears), HM isn't percentage based, it just does damage, so that's not a worry.Originally Posted by justinsane63

Your mages are not required to heal your tanks fully after a HM, they just need to heal you to numbers where it's safe to get hit by AoE or direct damage. If your mages heal you to 1000 HP, that's fine. You get hate back and they can slowly get you up on HP if they have MP to spare or simply keep you at that number.
It's not like they are required to have the tanks at white HP all the time, since there is no move from charriots or any danger related to yellow HP.
What body boosts grant your mages and tanks is a bigger margin of error on their jobs, so it is always good to use them on tanks no matter if you are facing nerfed or unnerfed. Just make sure to be aware of the actual HP numbers instead of being obsessed by HP color and manage accordingly if HM hits you.
So in closing, we give the body boosts to Main tank, second tank, and usualy RDM if we expect or have a manaboost. If not, we improvise.
I skimmed through this thread so forgive me if this has been brought up.
Has anyone tried testing if the the mad bomber pop is similar to the kirin warp?
Odd number he pops one side, even he pops the other?
Just seems to me with everything that we think is random turns out not to be every few months,
Zhayolm ramparts to port up to 6th floor, SSR rampart to unlock the door etc.
Doesn't work for kirin or mad bomber.Originally Posted by thorjones
Nice edit Drex lol.
I don't know who the fuck fabricated that bullshit Kirin room myth, but so many people believe it.
Thanks, this makes perfect sense.Originally Posted by Shassira
Uhm, yes it did work for me for kirin. I had a timer and it worked every single time. I haven't done kirin in a long time but either I'm the luckiest bastard ever, or it is based on the clock.
What works for me a lot of the time is to follow someone. Preload the Yes/No option and click yes when their char disappears. If they don't make it... you have a better chance. (I think)Originally Posted by thorjones
