Suiram posted an old SS of a contradiction in the other thread. I guess I can always cross my fingers and hope SE ninja'd in a change between the time of the contradictory SS and now... but that's probably a fool's hope.Originally Posted by SamanosukeShiva

Mad Bomber was up for us, for the first time in ages.
We had Inariya (75 RDM, Hume Female) open both of the first two doors (right before and after the cell chest).
Entered with 6 - MNK, MNK, RDM, RDM, DRK - and a THF, who just came along so we could enter the zone, he logged once we were inside - so we did everything with 5 people.
The very first mob to pop from the rampart was a Gate Widow, which dropped Enlil's Brayettes. Five other Gate Widows popped - although we got no further drops.
Screenshot during the 1st Floor Rampart indicates the time was: 18:35 Watersday, 71% Waxing Gibbous.
We also spawned the lolBees Rampart, but didn't get any NMs for about the 25th straight run.
A note on the Empathic Flans. On the first melee resistant one, we had a RDM nuke it to ~80% - and Spikes didn't appear until ~60%. On the second melee resistant one, we had both RDMs nuke it to ~60%, and spikes didn't appear until ~25%...
Entered Bhaflau on 18:00~ Earthday, 55% last quarter, went east mad bomber wasnt up, then we geared up go to 2nd floor, pop rampart, Watersday 2 pephredo popped #1 @44% #2 @26%
pt set up was: SAM SAM THF COR RDM RDM
My group seems to have luck w/ Mad Bomber always being up, but widow never drops. :rocl:
Last night 4 widows, 0 dorps... 2nd floor Rampart Pephredo very first pop, hikazu dorp.Another one at around 85%.... another pair.

entered BM lightningday 12% waxing , east path, mad bomber up, popped 3 gate widows. 2nd floor rampart, lightsday 14% waxing, no pop.
It's been awhile since I read this whole thread but I do not recall this behavior being mentioned before.
Just did a Chigoe/Bee run and at about 40% on the bee rampart it seemed the "takes double damage" just disappeared. Shortly afterwards our 3rd NM poped and graced us with a drop. It also gave us the slap in the face by poping another NM as the final mob.....

I have a couple questions about the 2F Flans. Normally we don't cast any magic what so ever on them because we're cautious, but I was wondering if there was a way to speed it up. Our last Bhaflau run we weren't going for the 2F Rampart, so we were nuking the Flans, and someone mentioned that 2/4 died with spikes on. So I wanted to clarify some ideas that I've read throughout the thread.
1) Would we be able to make a Darkness SC for the last 30%, and kill it with a MB?
2) Is there a certain % that you can nuke till at the beginning of each Flan?
3) Out of the 4 Flans, are there 2 that are melee resistant and 2 that are magic resistant? I've kind of noticed this, but I'm not 100% sure. Usually it seems the N/S Flans are melee resistant, where as the E/W Flans are magic resistant.
1)Yes, but if it doesn't die w/ the SC, it will most likely go to passive mode. It's the same concept as getting them down to a certain % and having a BLM finish it w/ AM2.
2) From what I've read some ppl nuke down 20-30% then melee it to death successfully (I've never tried it myself though.) Personally, I prefer the method on #1.
3)Correct.
1) Yes. Not positive on the percents, but I know that if the magic gets the killshot, the spikes count as being up.Originally Posted by Crizto
2) I imagine if the nuke goes off before he throws his spikes up, that it'd be ok. This'll depend on the spell he starts with when he first aggros - if it's blaze spikes or something fast, I wouldn't risk it, but if it's something easier like Quake, then go for it.
3) Yep, gotta be careful not to kill the melee-weak ones too fast if they cast a long spell lol, we've come very close to killing one that was casting burst with no spikes yet because we had tp saved up and the wses owned him.
1) In my experience, a skillchain cannot take the spikes off. We regularly SC @ 75% or so, the damage gets it to 50-60%, where the MB will overkill it easily. This only applies to North/South, as East/West are faster to just melee/WS.Originally Posted by Crizto
2) You can but the lower you get it with nukes, the longer it takes it to put spikes up it seems.
3) Answered in #1.
Is there a spell they cast that will signal that spikes are up? Or do you just need to watch for it?
Watch for it nub!
SC can change it, ive had it happen with our Mandau Thf.
The North + South ones are extremes, when its in spike mode its super weak to nukes, but very strong to melee, and vice versa. The East + West ones are not so extreme, where the still exhibit those qualities, but not so pronounced.
Can nuke the N + S ones at around 40% with an AM2 and it should kill it if u dont get resisted and ur Blm has some gear. Our Blm can kill from around 55% given INT in first chest + gear.
Check his offhand for Sirocco Kukri. <_< I've had a skillchain do something like 200 -> 500 -> 1400-1500 Darkness skillchain damage, directly after its spikes went up, and the spikes stayed on afterwards and died to the MB.Originally Posted by Terrestrialrage
Can even use elemental WS and spikes will stay up. Only direct magic damage will bring them down.
Sirocco won't take down the spikes; I and others have seen it used plenty of times.Originally Posted by Wizerd
