If LBC can be weakened like this, does that mean the other 3 chariot can be weakened? I can't imagine clearing gears in any other area

Possibly. In Silver Sea it would involve clearing mobs in the top floor (gear, rampart, chariot, etc on the west path. probably every mob on the floor for east path, because the other stuff has been tried by groups who do CC -> boss). In Arrapago it would likely involve killing the 2 ramparts that spawn after you clear the floor. In Zhayolm it would probably involve killing the 2 Manticore ramparts. Nobody ever does any of those things. In the case of bhaflau, it's still unclear whether or not weakening the boss is a result of popping of the rampart (in which case other bosses may not be able to be weakened), or whether it's tied to just plain and simple killing of gears.Originally Posted by Kaylia
Orzzzz. HM combined with the turning LBC after 75% is what made the fight be challenging and fun. -_-Originally Posted by divisortheory
Anyone willing to give credit to the 'nighttime' rumor deal? I don't have the time logged of the first two or three times we went in, but the last two times we entered around night (first time being around 19:00, second close to 1:00). One had 4 Pephedro pops, the other had 0.
I'd really like to start being able to pinpoint if there's some factor that makes the ramparts spawn their mobs, but I'm leaning towards the 'lolbees' explanation.
Our last attempt at this rampart netted no bees. I can only remember it being ~1:00 in-game day time

HM doesnt strip shadows, wont kill you, repositionning isnt that big of a deal, and taking 1 pld/nin for the way up isnt so bad, since they do decent dmg.
Eh how doesn't it? When you weaken missiles, instead of making them stick to the sides, you'd rather position the monks infront of it so it can use pissweak missiles with no hate reset, and diffusion ray, rather than paralyga/bindga.Originally Posted by NynJa
Joke post? Disabling Homing Missile would turn the fight into something that requires concentration and skill into a complete joke. First off, if homing missile is strong, you have to tank it from the sides, meaning you are getting Discharge/Inertia Stream only. Disabling homing missile means you can tank it from the front and that adds Diffusion Ray/Homing Missile to the list of WS. Neither of those 2 WS have bad status effects like discharge/inertia stream, and diffusion ray isn't even aoe, and homing does like what, 150 dmg? if homing isn't disabled, it's gonna be taking everyone that gets hit into red hp and possibly killing a mage before tank gets hate back. So uhh, yeah, disabling homing missile does make it a lot easier.Originally Posted by NynJa
To be fair, popping the rampart isn't exactly 100% and it's very easy to mess it up. Also, fight was pretty much always a joke for our group with the kiting method. Seems like it was always a joke to some groups with the straight tanking method too. So it went from a joke to a joke. /shrug Yea, there's some groups who can't kill it using either method, and this might help them. But if they're having that much trouble, then they'll probably have trouble killing the gears in time too. (Have to not aggro them and kill them in <45 seconds each).Originally Posted by Rancid
Well everything in this game becomes "a joke" once you got your strat and done it several times. I've been eating ice cream in one hand, while tanking Tiamat, but I saw other tanks get owned in no time. It's just all about practice.
Tanking LBC as MNK is fun and challenging IMO, since it does require you to stay focused on your constant Utsusemi casting (while at Tiamat you cast like what? 2 Ni during ground?), but of course it does get easier after a few fights. I think many people could easily fail when trying to tank this thing, cause they panic or zerg or whatever, while this fight is about keeping control.
And to be honest: We all know FF11 is not a difficult game, but Salvage is one of the hardest parts of the game. Is it as hard as NSG FF10? Definately no. Is it challenging? Yup.
This does make you start to think about other things in salvage that can be dependent on stuff from other floors. Main thing I can think of is arrapago remnants, the single cactuar/malboro/orobon that are summoned by ramparts.. maybe they are a way to weaken the boss(lol) or maybe even are related to the 6F QQTH that nobody can find.
Maybe not but it still takes a lot of the fun out of the fight. It's pretty exciting to see everyone running around with ~500HP even if they aren't really in any danger. If I can spam ranged attack and play guitar, that's definitely minus points on the LBC-fun-scale.Originally Posted by NynJa
It's fun 2-3 times...kinda lose the novelty factor after imo. I would rather have easy and short fight to be able to farm more lv 35 pieces
Now for the question. Has anyone tried killing a few or all of the gears without going into the rampant (something like a failed attempt or something) and went and fought LBC?
Do the other ramparts alter LBC in any way?
Then again, a nerfed missile is a very obvious change.I've done first or second floor ramparts and LBCs in three runs since the patch, and I haven't noticed weakening in any other aspects of LBC.
Not necessarily, did anyone EVER kill LBC and 4F rampart in the same run before?Originally Posted by Almalexia
Just confirmed Tragopan / Peryton on the west side. Not Zebra ZacharyI'll post in a few minutes if it weakens him again
Edit: Yea weakened again.
