Yes, and then please discover how to complete Marduk head and body![]()
Actually I just realized, as long as you promise to pop Don Poroggo when you to North route in Silver Seas, the mages won't mind. :D I'm sure there are like ten thousand RDM and BLM in every group that want Morrigan's Robe.Originally Posted by Bakthi

I didnt see this posted on the wiki, or on the first page but i swear i remember hearing it somewhere. Do the Gear/Gears in the 3rd floor north rooms link to the Fleeing develit?
no
Thinking of giving LAC a shot soon, just wondering how long does it actually take to brainjack it's target after turning to face them? Is it possible to start to kite as soon as it turns to avoid being jacked, or nearly impossible to escape? Also we don't have access to many MNKs =P been bringing 2 WHMs to LBC that both have MNK leveled also.
In comparison to LBC how hard is LAC to tank? Average melee attack damage, etc would be helpful. Debating on bringing WAR/NIN (as main DD tank), RNG (for assistance during Jack phases and Shadowbind), THF, BRD, WHM, RDM, RDM, BLM, MNK/NIN. Is 1 WHM going to be enough for LAC, or shall I stick with 2 as we have been doing with LBC? Also RNG has Crimson Cuisses and we have 2 pairs of Herald's Gaiters to help with kiting during Jack phases. Does LAC double attack like LBC? Is wiki accurate with the percent HP that Multi-jacks will take place? Prior to 75% will it use brainjack at all?
Also, is there a limit to the number of people that can be charmed, or is it possible for it to charm 10 people at once?
Thanks for any info, the most experience we have had with it so far was following a 6 man farming run where we decided to check out LAC, got it to like 85% in the 4 minutes that we had left kiting and such, but we could not get it to use brainjack.
I would say it's a three second window after it turns until brainjack. Depending on your tanks reflexes, it's highly avoidable. If you can bring a BLU, Blastbomb is GREAT for stunning Brainjack'd MNKs running crazy.
As far as damage, he seems to hit (someone else can verify this) 100-150ish from what I've seen, but with a MNK Counter + Shadows it shouldn't hit too often.
Two WHMs is helpful just in case one is killed, because after Brainjack sometimes WHMs are next on the hate list, which is very bad.
Shadowbind is very helpful, but don't rely on it. A jack session will last longer than bind will stick.
It can Jack before 75%, but that's the approximate range it will start. Don't expect it at 99% though. It's not % based, it's time based. After it does it's first brainjack, it will attempt to brainjack anyone it gets hate on, and anyone who stands in the way. You need to scatter. If a MNK has hate and is kiting, and it wanders in melee range of a WHM, it will brainjack the WHM. It will also AoE anyone who doesn't have hate and is within 5-10' away. It is possible to avoid all brainjacks, and atleast the second of the set. Also, plan to have you MNKs have Signet staves or weapons equally as weak (Lotus Katana, Relic Knuckles) during brainjack spam so they won't be able to kill anyone.
It charms one by one, but no, you probably won't all get charmed if you're thinking that's a solution.
Good luck, he's not a push-over^^
0/16 on all SilverSea NMs for Lv35 dorps. Waiting for a Drop that will give me reason to go do Zhayolm Boss and 4th Floor Madame South :/
3/2600 attempts at Nms in Bhaflau (3 Bees popped same run, 1 dropped U.Feet)
I've lost track on our Arrapago "record" ... But 3 Drops (1 Machas, 2 Deimos), Chariot simply will not put out for us.
Ah thanks, so Brainjack is pretty much only usable in melee range? Was wondering how close in proximity the player had to be to actually be charmed.
My group just fought LAC last night to complete our first piece, Marduk pants (yeah I know, nothing spectacular.. but that's how the pieces fell so we went with it). We had 7 people, PLD/WAR, 2x MNK/NIN, RDM, WHM, BRD, BLM. I was the BLM and was in a second allianced party by myself, which sucked but was necessary.
LAC takes quite a while to kill with 7 people, but Brainjack isn't that bad. Honestly, I've begun using it to my advantage. I only really first thought of this last night, and during the fight, the others didn't quite catch my drift, but we're gonna do a few things different next time.
During the standard melee phase, the two MNK/NINs were the only two in melee range. The PLD/WAR was standing out of range, throwing support cures and staying ready to get hate after Brainjacks started (hence WAR sub, easy hate spike. He has crimson legs so he can stay ahead of LAC). He found it difficult to keep hate off our WHM though, because she frequently had to throw big cures on the MNKs.
Long story stortened: I began strategizing and using Brainjack to my benefit. Whenever LAC was in normal melee mode, I just kept all three elemental DoTs on him, plus Bio II, at all times. It helped keep my hate above the WHM's, though without a refresher my MP was hurting a lot. I would then Stoneskin up and wait for LAC to turn. As soon as he did, I would do a Seal/Freeze II and deliberately let myself get Brainjacked. This functioned as a free hate reset for me after each damage session ... pretty easy. I think this would be adaptable for use by a WHM also; especially if two were present. Just stoneskin up and let him reset your hate.
Either way, LAC isn't nearly as hard as LBC, he just takes a while with lower numbers.
hi guys. Well past Friday won vs LAC was a nice run. Th cell farmign went pretty smooth. No casualties during farm.
we went in with 14 ppl.
Mnk/nin x 2
Rdm/whm
Whm/blm
Cor/rng
smn/whm
rdm/whm
nin/war
pld/nin
rng/war
rdm/whm
blu/nin
whm/blm
thf/nin
We manage to get full gear in firsta nd seccond floor 100% cleared.
Some Gears to build tp and osme cells.
We starts with 2 mnks Chiblast, then 2 hour from both.
Backup tanks voke and kite while charm session ad rng shadowbind. all mages focusing on mnks.
Blu HEadbutt and def down plus frost. it went pretty good took us around 25 mins to kill. we got more than 3 charmin sessions. but we manage to keep monks alive all the time.
Smn works like a charm there. Stoneskin the mnks, plus Diabolos nether blast is wonderfull and steady 500 dmg.
got mys elf my morrigan cuffs and Raymore, got his level 25 hands.
Hmm, I'm not sure why you think brainjack is hate reset. It really just seems to reset hate because the person who gets charmed is temporarily off the hate list. If hate resets every time he charms, that would mean the mnks would never get hate back, which isn't the case.
it is hate reset
just that everyone on hatelist will be chase down by LAC and eventually charmed for grps with lotsa DDs (MNK NIN RNG BLM etc) or even RDM that cure alot
enmity dont stay put forever, it will degenerate and the MNK or NIN will eventually get back hate after 1 voke or few attacks
a worst case u will prolly see is rng or blm not getting jacked throughout and the MNK or NIN will have a slightly more difficult time to get hate back after each charm
a grp of 6 NIN MNK WHM RDM BRD THF will allow the NIN or MNK to get hate back easily because after both tanks charmed, no one next on hate list will have dramatic enmity built up... and therefore makes NIN or MNK gets back hate pretty easy with just a voke from the NIN
If you're thinking I mean a hate reset in the style of Homing Missile (100% reset of all in range), I don't. I only mean myself.Originally Posted by alphacat
Even if it's -not- a complete hate reset for the person it uses Brainjack on, it seems very close to it. Like I said, I kept the elemental DoT's on it, and Bio II, during the melee phase, which adds a bit of hate on. Then when I felt it was close enough to Brainjack time, I nuked with Freeze II. One time I also managed to get a Blizzard IV off right after that. It immediately charmed me, but once it wore, it didn't come back for me at all. Close enough to a hate reset I think, to be considered one.
(One last detail: near the 25% mark or so, our PLD used Invincible to grab hate and kite it away when it went into Brainjack mode. He crossed over to the other side room and LAC caught up to him there, and Brainjacked him. When the charm wore, LAC did -not- chase the PLD even though hate was very bouncy at that point.)
It is a complete hate reset.
Its a complete hate reset for the person he uses it on.Originally Posted by alphacat
I'm not so convinced it's a complete hate reset either...
We use a single PLD tank, and often for the entire fight some support mages will never pull hate, even when it includes a half-dozen brainjack sessions. The tank also gets hate back fairly quickly after brainjack. It seems more to me if anything it's more like the petrify/sleep semi-reset where a subsequent action or two restores part or all of the previous hate conditions. Not to say that it definitely isn't full reset, but this is just how it's always seemed to me anyway.

I can't appreciate the distinction you're making between 'traditional NM hate' and 'normal mob hate', if you'd care to elaborate. I'll agree it's possible that our mages are careful with enmity management but NM or not I don't feel it's a full reset. On the other hand I'm neither a tank nor a support mage so maybe our group's PLD will see these posts and correct me if he feels I'm misspeaking.
Edit: Also to elaborate further, we use essentially the same setup for both Bhaflau and Silver Seas boss runs (as opposed to Zhayolm/Arrapago where we use MNK or MNK+NIN tanks), which is a PLD/NIN with BRD+RDM+WHM support and 1-2 BLM and 1-2 RNGs (3-4 total DD). There is a distinct difference in the hate situation after a series of brainjackings than when, for instance, a (un-nerfed) Homing Missile gets off, whereas with a full-hate reset from Brainjack it should be pretty much identical.
