Resist charm gear didn't do much for us so we decided eff it. Also there's a rather big flaw in your plan in that even if your BLMs somehow get hate (how'd they get hate above the MNKs so fast...?) you will still have most if not all the alliance charmed for a time and you'll still have to kite around. We just let the MNKs get charmed and kite-nuke for a while. Its not like damage stops or anything during that period.Originally Posted by Mirinika
So we go into LAC today expecting to get Brainjack session'd around 75%ish. We pop soul voice, Hundred fists x2 and I pop my Barb Drink so we can zerg it down and then do the switch weapons and run thing around 75 when he turns.
Well, zerging it brings it down to about 60% and it still hasn't brainjacked, Hundred Fists and such wear off.. wondering where it is. It finally starts trying to jack us around 50%, and we ended up getting it to 35% or afterwards before it tries to Brainjack again and we time out, because we engaged with about 5-6min left. Was fun, and very zergable. Easy win with 15min remaining next time.
brain jack is time thing
2:30 - 3:00 per jack
Our regular PLD couldn't make tonight's Silver Seas run, so we tried 2x MNK for the first time in this zone. I'm going to rescind my previous assertion, it definitely is a substantial hate reduction, if not a full reset. I would have thought it would be more noticeable with a single PLD, but as other people pointed out they do have a lot of tools available to get hate back after charm, and the hate loss was much more apparent with MNKs. On another note, all of our moghouses are now carpeted entirely in Ea's Brais.![]()
Well Mirin's group is on my server (if you're the Mirinaka I've been doing some random assaults with /wave) and they aren't dealing with people with the same caliber gear that your group probably is. They're largely not linked to HNMLSs and most likely are lacking things even like sky God gear. So I don't think a straight-zerg would be the best suggestive approach. I'd recommend just the basic open with HF >> let MNKs get charmed >> kite >> regain hate >> rinse/repeat. Just make sure you have 25-30 min for a first-time run and you should win with ease. The only real challenging chariot in Salvage is an unweakened LBC. The rest are jokes if you know the little trick to avoiding or negating the potentially devastating effects of the super-move.Originally Posted by Wizerd

Brainjack didn't seem to last very long at all though. Didn't do anything out of the ordinary or kill any gear so doubt we had done anything to nerf it. I didn't time it, but seemed like Brainjack only lasted about 1 minute tops. Killed in about 20 minutes with RNG RNG PLD/NIN WAR/NIN THF/WAR WHM WHM BLM BLM RDM RDM BRD. Jack sessions lasted maybe 2-3 minutes in which we kited or Shadowbinded.
Drops ftl

edit: Need help on deciding on a new farming route to gear up for this. Any suggestions would be welcome.
After everyone being pretty much tired with Silver Sea, we finally got Hikazu head to drop... So we move to Arrapago, and get Hikazu legs the very next run.
My only Usukane lotter must be happy.
Now to get the crappy Dekka to drop and we'll be done with Silver Sea for some time ~.~ I'm starting to hate this zone...
We got 2 Phobos's twice in a row lol.Originally Posted by Seditedi

Yes. My group has plenty of times.Originally Posted by docvicious
You need to take either the NW or NE teleporter on the second floor to hit Gyro Gear. After that, you need to kill the runaway Devilet to open the door to the south and you can go into the east room to pop Gyro Gears.
Yes, but if you want to hit both of those NMs in the same run, then Powderkeg is out of the question.Originally Posted by docvicious
Learned something really interesting tonight. The roaming gears on the Citadel path are -not- forced link. I'm 100% sure of this, I pulled the one from the rear of the train as they were heading away from me, and the other 5 didn't follow me at all. It's not even 2 parties of 3, it's just 6 totally separate mobs.
I just wanted to document what happened with my group tonight in case it hasn't been said before (or if it has, to reaffirm it...I can't read every page of this thread but I'm keeping up with the more recent posts). We got to the third floor gears on the east side and started killing to pop Gyroscopic Gears. Our puller linked the 1st pull so we slept one while we killed the other, then killed the second (not sure if this has any bearing on what followed...and they were both single Gear). We pulled the next gear and proceeded to kill, and this is when things got weird. We were fighting far back from the room containing all the gears, actually in the adjoining room which is empty. The moment we defeated the gear that had been pulled, a new one came floating into the room without anyone pulling it. I originally thought our BLU had pulled it, which would have been strange but in the realm of possibilities, so I shrugged it off. The moment we killed that gear ANOTHER gear came floating into the room. This time I knew no one had pulled it. We proceded to kill, and on cue ANOTHER gear came floating in. That was the last one that came in on it's own accord, we had to pull the remaining two.
There is no possible way that these aggrod us from where we were positioned. It actually benefited us greatly, we tore through the room because of it. So I'm just curious if anyone else has had this happen. Is it just a glitch or could there have been something we did to trigger them to come at us wave after wave? I was hoping that the strange circumstances would yield a 35 drop, but we're continuing our 0/738678568 streak in Silver Seas...not one damn 35 ; ;
**Edit - There was no weather effect to make for a heightened chance of magic or sight aggro either**
I have a theory as to what happened.
When the first pull linked, it also linked one of the ramparts. The rampart that it linked just happened to be the one to unlock the porter, as such it remained stationary. Since it was still aggressive though, any other gear that happened to wander near it instantly linked with it and came after you. But since the rampart remained stationary, you never knew it had linked in the first place.

New turtle strategy: fuck pulling it to the porter, just fight it in the corner. Breath caps at 400, not a problem.
We did that with Citadel before, but haven't tried it with the ramparts. Did you do it with the ramprats too? I guess I don't see why it isn't possible.
Rampart link with gear, not sure it would be possible to do in that corner. Could probably try in those square room, but gears takes 1-2min to leave them at time.Originally Posted by divisortheory
How long does it take for gears to move pass you in the small passage? I'm worried to fight them for too long without magic access to magic.
This is what confuses me. In Arrapago, I've never had gears link to Ramparts OR Chariots. However, I'm unsure in Silver Seas, because gears seem to link to the stationary Rampart that Divisor was talking about. I think people have proved you can fight Ramparts in the corner though. It would be hard and annoying to have a Reinforcement on you and awake while gears were passing though.Originally Posted by Kaylia
