Hmm ... thanks for the input guys. We always come as the same jobs too, maybe we'll shift some things around where we can with job combos and such.Originally Posted by divisortheory

If you really feel like getting creative, split into 3 parties of 2 (or whatever depending how many people you have) in a big alliance, then once you get inside the zone form back up normally. The drops definitely aren't totally random, so possible factors could be earth day/time that you enter (most groups always go at the same time each week), or alliance / party makeup.
I've always had this weird gut feeling that all the random stuff in FFXI is based on the first 3 letters of your character name. That's how the Strange Apparatus quests work if you recall. I once did a crafting experiment with 2 different mules plus my main. One mule I intentionally created to have the same first 3 letters in their name, the other mule was a random name. Main + similar mule had very similar results with regards to when skillups / breaks would happen, and the other mule had totally different results. This was skilling up a craft from 0-20.
Hmm interesting concept. The same guy normally starts Salvage on our Duo/Trio+ Arrapago runs... and 0/49 i think on QQth. I normally started our BR runs and for LBC, we don't see identical drops, but we've only seen 2 Ares' body in the past 5 months or so. We've never seen Morrigan's body or Ares' head.
Doing a boss/NM run tonight in Silver Seas, and to be honest my group has been focusing on the other zones due to members wanted other items. So our familiarity with this zone isnt as high as I would like it.
Couple of questions that I didnt really see answered in this thread:
1. The second floor SW fomors/imps have guarenteed drops? If so, what are they? Was wondering if I could count on some more weapons/JA/MA in this room.
2. Is the SE room the same way for drops on imps/fomors? Or do their drops suck because its a NM pop room? (i.e. is there any reason to farm SW over SE).
3. On the first floor (west), the 8 linking fomors. Never tried this, but i heard that I could pop sneak, have them just follow me (w/o attacking me), and just have someone pull one off my while I kite w/o being damaged. Does this work?
Thankyou for all the answers.
No. That is for the center room just before the teleporter and idk about picking them off one by one. Unless there is some trick I missed somewhere.Originally Posted by Neosutra

2. Now this I can answer. The drops on the imps/fomor are guaranteed to occur. Its just its random what types it drops. Fomor tend to be a combination of gear cells in no particular order. The imps tend to drop HP/MP/Magic/Ability cells in no particular order either, and in a random quantity. The NM itself we have only managed to have enough time to pop once and he didn't drop. However our luck with drops has got to be some of the worst in history... its been 23 RL days since we saw a single 35 of any sort drop from any area. This is a fine area to farm cells from though, we are usually able to fully-gear all melee and mages here as well as ensure everyone has HP/MP/Abilities/Magic unlocked in a group of 6-9 (we are also a small group that never has more than perhaps 10 on a blue moon). If you ever find yourself short of cells, this is your place to get them.
3. West? You mean the 6 linking fomor the pop Hammerblow ya? Can't say we've heard of that sneak trick. We just have a RDM do Diaga or something and then kite them around the two conjoining rooms and pull them off one by one and kill them (if we have 3 MNKs each MNK solos one kind of Dyna-Xarcabard style). Haven't had any problems doing this so far but yeah I guess a sneak trick would be even easier. The 8 on the East side however do not link if aggroed (they just have normal link) so you can pull them just like you would a beastmen from mamool without fear of the whole room insta-linking.
Hope you do well, this area is probably one of the easiest to conquer not to mention in a group of 9-10 we manage to hit Hammerblow/Powderkeg or Dekka + boss with little to no trouble about time. LAC is just retarded kiting and then regaining of hate. Killed him with 6 in 17 min so you should find him a cake-walk. Good luck with the drops '-')b
East side Fomor room does not link at all.
He means 2F, not 1F, and the Fomors will link to an Imp and vice versa if one is close.Originally Posted by Seditedi
He is talking about 1F, and yes I know that Imp/Fomor link, but Fomor to Fomor do not link in 1F East.
I have several experiences that would say otherwise, including the entire 1F East big room linking on me because of 1 bad turn of the Fomors. They link by sight, which is odd because they aggro sound only, but they definitely do link. 1F would be so much easier if they didn't.Originally Posted by Seditedi
Hmm, must be very small line of sight then because I've pulled 1 that had 2-3 basically looking at it, and 0 links. Done plenty of runs here and never experienced a link from that room and I've never been careful pulling lol.
I haven't done East side in a while, but I have to ask, why do East? Ever since the starting chest was added, West takes the same amount of time as East with about the same amount of cells, perhaps only one or two less magic cells on average, AND you get to kill an NM. 25 minutes tops.Originally Posted by Seditedi
Yeah, did east before any of us had experience with west side, from now on doing west though.
Might be doing a boss run soon and had a few questions. When it does Brainjack what is the best way to deal with it? I've heard people say you should bind/gravity the person charmed, but you'd have to Diaga their shadows or something first? I've also heard you can just have everyone run around kiting it. Even if the tank equips a weaker weapon he's gonna be killing the other tank's shadows. So to kite it around during Brainjack you'd have to keep Bind erased the whole time. What's the best way to deal with it? Thanks.
Its pretty weak, some groups like to leave bind on from Inertia Stream, but I like to keep it erased, can usually have a co tank escape getting charmed if they have quick reflexes. Keep DD/tanks Regen III'ed to negate the DOT from brainjack, its got 12% movement speed I believe, but during a jack phase he gets ridiculously high TP regen so if it gets close to you it'll use TP so that slows it down alot making it pretty easy to kite. Its got moderately high attack but nowhere near as high as Long-Bowed Chariot, so you don't run the risk of your mages getting one shotted. It will still hit high on critical hits, but with proper -dmg% gear for kiting it hits pretty weak. Terra's/Earth Staff is good enough, hits me as low at 160ish on RDM with -20% physical dmg taken, forgot if I had cheviot cape or not.
edit: o and you will definitely want to bring a voker either war/nin or nin/war to reestablish hate quickly after brainjacks.
Finally did our first LAC the other day since we got some Bhaf drops (YAY!)...Originally Posted by Seditedi

I daresay its easier than a nerfed LBC.....the only slow downs come from brainjack..
Note that he uses Brainjack at 75% 50% 25% and around 5%......we had 4 melee, 2 on it a time..typically both got charmed and everyone else ran while the other 2 melee secured hate from the mages....a really easy fight brought it down in 15 minutes being super cautious not 2 houring etc....
I died to the slip effect once, so yeah regen would have been nice...monk raped me when he got charmed lol
He is gonna be a fag just like LBC first drops were 2 x bodb's cuff we need damn U feet x2 and some skadi visor >.>
Brainjack is not by HP%. It will use even if you do not damage it. It feels like its more on a timer rather than HP. If it uses at every 25% for you, it just means your DD is doing that amount damage in that time.
Get every melee to bring warp cudgels/staves and get them to change into these when chariot starts jacking (make macro). It makes life easier. Of course your melee has to be fast enough...
Ahh, well that makes sense I guess so figure once every 3-4 mins then...based on how fast we killed it, kind of like Boreas Mantle from that stupid puk...kill fast see one mantle, kill slow see two >.>Originally Posted by tymora
I would say its on a timer and a HP ammount whatever comes first from my experience.
So, if you have the MNK's tanking on opposite sides and don't erase Bind they'll be bound out of range from hitting the other MNK? It doesn't seem like running will help much if you have 2 MNK tanks without movement speed when the Chariot moves at 12% movement speed. He'll just catch up and Brainjack anyway? Because even if a MNK equips a shitty weapon and they were swinging at the other tank they'd probably still hit them, killing their shdows for the Chariot to hit them.
