Re: Salvage - Silver Sea Remnants - thread 2

We usually have 3-4 people get jacked at a time but its not really a problem. The DoT on jack can kill you without buffs if you dont have HP but cells are rarely a problem in SSR. Main problem is most of the time both tanks (Usually a mnk and a war) get jacked and I or another BLM end up kiting. Kiting is fairly easy but it often takes 2-3 minutes after jack wearing off to get hate back for tanks since it seems to be reset when jacked. A BLM spamming Bliz 2-3-4 the whole fight will have a significant amount of hate, at least 2-3 vokes worth unless you stop to let tanks melee, but I dont last long on BLM without buffs. This is a lot easier now when a THF is there with Accomplice. We usually go in with 9-12, mage heavy group, and MB takes up 15-20 min. Having a Ridill war as tank hold hate very well but lack of subtle blow and TP spam is very noticable. I think we'd all prefer to have a 2nd MNK.

if hate is a problem, why not have your blm throw up stoneskin and get jacked as well for free hate reset

I don't think you can duo it, at least to me it seems as its HP gets lower its duration between brain jack sessions decreases. You simply won't be able to kill it quick enough between jack phases.
edit: @fuergrissa: tell your Ridill WAR to go Axe/Axe or Gaxe even, helps alot on TP spam.

I kite it all the time on my MNK, so obviously I know how easy he is to kite. My comment was simply pointing out a problem you could encounter if both members were charmed with no dot on it. gl tho~

Ya cause ninjas dont have ninjitsu poison amirite?

The ONLY reason I dont think i can solo it nin is because of recast timers vs. attack speed. Just based on its delay vs. accuracy, I would NEED about a 30% boost in timer/chariot attack ratio. Hence the need for a rdm.
If you want to rely on Poison Ninjitsu to keep the chariot from regening during jacks, good luck.

It'd be impossible to solo on NIN because of its TP moves even if you could keep up shadows on its melee attacks, you would get raped by Discharge and Inertia Stream.

TP moves do about 300 damage AoE, Curing Waltz can fix that.
    Divine waltz that para away..

Besides, Im not arguing that its possible to solo via the method I am saying, I already stated that it isnt possible due to timers. What I am saying is possible, is a relatively fun duo.

It'd hit you harder than 300 damage without Shell.
edit: But yes, duo does look like it could be pretty fun.

Aurik what was your record on Hammerblow? We're 0/32 and I feel like we're otw to beating yours. Hate this zone so damn much. We have 2 35s from this zone in 32 runs. Ok done whining.

We never got hammerblow drop in well over 30 SS.... then BAM... 2 drops in the matter of 4 runs. Just Powderkeg STILL refuses to ever drop.

we're 1/40+ on Hammer and 0/20+ on powderkeg. (we've only got one 35 from more than 40 runs in SSR actually - it's pretty depressing lol) just don't expect things to drop in this area and you can't be disappointed.

anyone else having issues with LAC dropping tons of skadi and not much usukane or ares? if we get another skadi mask I think everyone in the ls will have one. haha

Hmmm we just did a run tonight, 2 mnks tanking, 2 rdms for healing and a bard, a blm and rng for extra damage, and me as thief and a nin kinda stayed out of the way. The fight took us a very long time and eventually ended with a wipe, probably because it took too long. But i just cant see how to do this fight in 15 minutes, especially with the brain jack session. This was our first time fighting this boss so was it just because we were unfamiliar, or did we lack DD's, or were we all supposed to 2 hour at the start of it, or something completely different?

Also for hitting all those NM's and the boss, how many monks / relic weapons do you think is necessary, and do you skip a lot of the first floor fomors?
Early zerg is the best. We used a very similiar setup to yours mnk+mnk or mnk+sam for DD, 2 rdms, a brd, and blm for support and our fastest fight is around 10-12 mins, and here's what we've learned. At first we were WAY TOO CAUTIOUS. I was having a DD come off while we "recovered" from brainjack, blm took it easy as to not pull hate which was the biggest mistake of all. By the time we "recovered" and LAC was re-para II, slow II, dia II, poison II, hastex2, refreshx3, phalIIx2 and we put the 2nd DD back on he'd be ready to enter brainjack phase again. Thus drawing the fight out way too long which leaves more room for error. After a few longgg drawn out fights we learned more of a zerg is recommended and only pull the 2nd DD off if he's close to being dead, and have blm go as nuts as he wants once hate is re-established. Immediately putting both DD's back on, and having blm nuke hard instead of "helping us recover" really sped up the fights and made them easier. Combining that with our preference of kiting LAC where you tele up and the 2 side rooms made it a much less stressful fight.

edit: ugh sorry, I thought I was on page 22, but was actually on page 1 lol. You can delete this or whatever, the question I replied to is quite old .

I just want to put a note that this is not true. Brainjack comes at 2min30 - 3min every single time for us, starting at under 85%ish. We have a NIN wait on the side, and time it, so we can switch weapons effectively (ie, not get stuck during utsu ichi casting, etc). The jack session seems to always last less than 60 seconds (I mean the time when he can brainjack people), and we have a NIN going in to provoke after 60 seconds, while someone else (usually a mage) continues to kite all the charmed people.

At around 20%ish, it starts brainjacking randomly (it seems) as it doesn't appear to do a full session for 60 seconds each time. This is zerg time.

Re: Salvage - Silver Sea Remnants - thread 2

I'd say, at least from my experience, the first brainjack session is based on time and HP%. It will always start brainjacking if it reaches 65~70% HP. If a certain amount of time goes by before then, it will start brainjacking. Typically we get it down to 70~75% with 2 MNKs and 1 THF without zerging before the first brainjacking session starts. After that session, subsequent sessions are all solely based on time. It's definitely best to save the zerg for after the first brainjack session(around 40% for us, but we only have 6 people). There could be some odd rule for below 20%, we always killed it very quickly so I don't really know.

Did a search and didnt see any info on soloing Hammerblow. I have done it on NIN before (stopped once I began doing 6 day a week salvage) and I know Mojo has done it on RDM/BLU and I think BLU main also. Biggest issue is getting 5 helpers to get you in for me (im not popular enough?). If anyone need those strats I'd be glad to share, im sure mojo would too.

Solo hammerblow? I guess you could negate alot of the damage taken with -phys. dmg taken gear and phalanx as a RDM vs. the train, but still.
I'd like to hear as well.

No... you have to kill the room to pop the NM.
