Re: Salvage - Silver Sea Remnants - thread 2

Just did a run with some friends, 1fe, 2fnw, 3fe heading to cc.
floors 1-2 np donw them a lot and had no issues.

Floor 3, we decided we wernt going to pop either ggs, so made our way through first room (after killing deadpan) and went to 2nd, with our thf ready to aggro the room and pull it well away from us. We all unloaded on the rampart that didnt move.

Killed the rampart, door still sealed. Figures it must be because there was still one ghost out that had been summoned, killed ghost, door still sealed. At which point the gears made it back annd slaughtered us in unfavourable positions.

Were kinda stumped as to why the door didnt open, we killed the one and only rampart that didnt move and all its summons (we did however have a second rampart slept by us, not sure what/how, but somone tagged it off the initial train, but it was definately not the stationairy one that was slept).

Have looked on bgwiki and lolwiki and havent found anything to say that once you aggro a rampart it must die, only that killing the one that doesnt move will open the door (tried the door enough times to know it wasnt lag lol).

We've slept Ramparts before while killing the stationary one, and it's unlocked just fine; we've also left summons out while porting up. It was likely just a glitch.

Re: Salvage - Silver Sea Remnants - thread 2

Ok i have not read the thread so sorry because i know this question has been answered.

Now i just got my usukane boots 35 from bhaflau and i wanna attack silver sea for the 25 so here is my good question

    1) What's a good strategy + setup from start to end?, if it's not too long.

    2) i remarked there's alot of different path. is there a way to get hammerblow for usukane 35 head while getting the mega boss it's 2 different path.

Thx for answering me, the only leading salvage experiance i got is in bhaflau so

    0/41 on hammerblow....

Someone today told me they are 2/20, I wanted to hunt him down and strangle him.

I'm truly starting to think there is a condition to make it drop, an order to kill the mobs, something, but odds are its just like everything else and have a crappy droprate.

Sorry this is just pissing me off to no end.

the lead post has alot of useful information. there's several paths - with an experienced group it's feasible to hit 3 or 4 NM's and the mega depending on which path you take. you can easily do hammerblow on every run in SSR - the only reason not to do him is if your group is capped out on the piece or you're taking like 15 people through.

as for strat: have a plan for what to do when people start getting brainjacked, and encourage your tanks to have crap weapons to equip when it gets ready to do it. otherwise it's just a matter of shadowbind / kiting etc until the 90 seconds are up and then getting hate back on your tanks again quickly. some groups use a main tank with voke for that reason, but it can be done with 2 monks just fine.

Re: Salvage - Silver Sea Remnants - thread 2

Just finished a Silver Seas run trying something new (to be honest, I don't see how anyone kills him in 10 minutes with MNK MNK THF WHM RDM BRD, but anyway). We went with WHM BRD COR as our support pt, other jobs were MNK MNK DRK THF SMN, THF SMN in the extra party for most of the run.

For the boss, tank pt was MNK MNK SMN WHM BRD COR. We took Chaos/Monk's roll and Minuet x2(to zerg) or Minuet/March(after zerg), and the SMN focused on getting hate for when Brainjack was coming up. Usually kept hate long enough so that the only people who got charmed were us two MNKs and sometimes the COR.

I was worried about the lack of healing with that setup, but with Scholar sub, she didn't have any MP problems whatsoever. It was awesome.

Boss took us about 15 minutes; was just too bad COR 2hr didn't recharge our double Hundred Fists, woulda been a nice quick 10 minute battle or less. <_<

Just posted to advocate WHM BRD COR, RDM is phooey and probably a detriment on LAC due to the higher hate they get from stuff (gogo -enmity gear!). (None of our RDMs have Crimson legs)

We've been working on a BST+Snarl based strategy for LAC. It's worked pretty well, but requires a lot of practice from the BST side. The idea is similar to what you post here, but hate is easier to plant with a BST than a SMN. The downside is, ofcourse, that BST is tied on a 5 minute timer for pets, so it can get rough if done wrong.

Here's the perks of it, for the curious:

We take as a front side team MNK, MNK, BST/WAR. As you can imagine, this causes more AoE moves than any other charriot (which we do with only MNK, MNK), so that's something you have to work with. BST can try to manage its hate while at the same time trying to avoid AoE moves, ofcourse. Either way, the BST melees, WSs and provokes each time voke is up to build as much hate as possible, while keeping Carrie (or any pet with a decent HP pool, carrie does pretty well though) up. Regularly the BST uses snarl on carrie (i prefer using it after a provoke or a WS to keep the flow going).
The trick here is to not let carrie get hit by AoE because this will chip out the pet's life and ruin everything. The pet doesn't melee at all, in fact, you keep her away from LAC (past 10') by just using Stay there. There's an added perk here though... Snarl will not work if your pet is at more than 10' from the mob (i believe this is the correct number, it may be less, my tests on this were rather sketchy on colibries but i defined it was not possible to transfer hate outisde the 10' range, which was my main point), so basicly you have to recall carrie, snarl her, move back and stay her away and go back to melee.

Alternatively you can just snarl her when you see people getting charmed (since the two mnks are likely to be before you on the list), but this is riskier. The trick is to keep carrie from AoE.

If done right, LAC will go directly to carrie, try to BJ repeatedly till he's bored of BJing. The mnks change to pitchforks (since they don't have any polearm skill =P) and everyone watches while LAC tries to kill carrie and charm her. Funny enough, LAC actualy attacks between charms, but he's usualy more busy trying to charm her than anything. Alternatively, you can force LAC to kite instead of keeping carrie steady.

Usualy, if you didn't let her get hit in the melee, she'll survive until the mnks are awake and can regain hate. Ofcourse, take into account reward for this, which should give her one or two rounds of hits from LAC.

After this, you need to spawn a new pet and this is where it gets ugly because you may not be ready for the third charm wave with a new pet (on a 5 min timer =/).

In sumary, it's quite a complicated way of doing LAC but it really just adds a lot of work for the BST, the rest of the party works the same as with a "kite it and hope it doesn't kill us" strategy. Since only two people get charmed, the DoT really doesn't do anything, which is a plus. If done perfectly, mages could just sit and /heal while the BJ session ends. Notice the BST never gets hate to be on the charm list, ofcourse, since all is placed on the pet, so you'll never really have to worry about the bst getting charmed, etc, etc. As i said, this puts a bit of a strain on the healers, so this might definitely not be a good idea with a 6 man party, but it works pretty well with a 7+ man party (assuming the extra is someone capable of healing). Also note this adds in some damage from the BST, which although weak compared to the mnks (since your pet does not add dmg as you keep it away), it can potentialy reduce the fight's total time.

Be all end all strategy? Nah. Needed? Definitely not. But it sure is fun using BST for something meaningful =P And watching LAC fail charming and trying again and again is fun stuff.

Gee, after reading that the SMN thing seems much easier lol.

We used to kill it using 2-3 SMN holding LAC and pretty much having avatars tank and kill it (20 minute kill or so), so not having to rely on 2-3 SMN showing up was a little bit of an accomplishment for us.

XD yeah, it's horribly elaborated. The good part is that it only needs one person to do the complicated work, so it kinda looks smooth if well done ^^; Anyway, just commenting it anecdotically, because it's a pretty fun way of doing it!

Salvage MBs in general seem to go out of their way to drop exactly what you don't need, over and over.

Seem's exactally how it is, out of our 8 LAC kills and 16 drops, 7 have been skadi mask and 5 have been skadi body, we only needed 1 of each.

at least you actually needed both pieces. we've had more drops of skadi than I'd care to count (more drops of marduk hands than I would care to count too for that matter, heh.)

Marduk drops from every boss at least once EVERY time we do Salvage. No matter what the boss, Marduk is probably the least useful set of all too.
