On the first floor we are going to go west and take out Hammerblow. I was curious as to how many of the fomors we should kill along the way, all 16 or 12 perhaps.

On the second floor we are just going to take SW and port up to the 3rd floor.

On the third floor we will dodge the initial ramparts/gears and do Gyro gears. After we finish him off then take out the ramparts until we open up the portal up to 4.

On 4 the plan is to just do a flee to the tele with a possible perfect dodge if needed. I am curious as to how difficult this is if at all. I assume the chariot is not avoidable and will aggro which would then be a good time to trigger flee.

Then on the boss the usual strategy. Just curious if the path to the boss seems possible with the jobs in the pt as well as the nms planned. TY for any feedback.
You could take out 4NM + mega with your setup with some practice, but start with 3NM/mega tomorrow.

1st floor: Clear the first two fomor rooms (4chest/4 fomors), and gear your 2 tanks first. Since it's your first time, I would recommend getting magic for the brd and 2 healers. When you will be more comfortable, killing the first 4-5 fomors is generally enough.

Giving thief the 2nd range and RR scroll (there is always one in chest) is a good idea for Hammerblow room. Have him pull the 6 fomor and run back toward entrance until he lose aggro. Both mnk can take 2 shade off the train and fight it in the south section of the room. The shade on the right always drop 3 magic cells, so kill this one first and give 2 those cells to your tank

2nd floor: Take South east room instead and clear it. You get one more NM and you will gear everyone properly. Careful with imp/fomor link that can be deadly, since everything hit really hard in this room. If there is link, the puller (thief?) should keep running past the group and kite the fomor while the rest of the party fight the imp.

3rd: while people fight Gyroscopic Gears, send someone to WEST portal

4th It's pretty easy to ninja through the place, and you can generally outrun/unagro gears if you cut corner.I cant imagine anyone having issue running to the portal. I dont remember if chariot aggro or not, but its definitively avoidable

    Two issues here:

    - you will warp east on third floor, which means you end up on Citadel chelonian floor, and your thief will find a closed door.

    - your PT will not have a lot of cells.

Clearing Morrigan NM instead of Gyro gears is a better option imo.

Cant you just avoid killing the ramparts and go up the opposite side of the rampart. Also, on the gyro side going up if I'm not mistaken to go to boss don't you have to kill the chariot on turtle floor?

Edit- eh someone beat me to it.

You can port up on the opposite side after killing gyro gears if you don't want to try turtle, as long as you don't open the porter-room door on gears side

We would be taking the west warp on the third floor, the idea was to skip the roaming gears for now. Since they can be annoying.

For now I want to just try 2nms and the boss and see how we are on time before we attempt 3nms and the boss since this is our first boss attempt. Thanks for the feedback.

Edit: The cell issue is why I was planning to kill extra fomors on the first floor. The bad part is not a single person in the SP needs Morrigan so we are going for the Gears instead.

No RDM, BLM or BLU in the group? Morrigan slops is one of the best, and rarest piece, in salvage.

Anyway, the reason I'm telling you to hit 3 NMs is not just for cells, but to get some practice as a group. Taking a different path every run is probably going to create more confusion on the upcomming run, and it will take longer for everyone to learn what to do.

On the 4F West side, if that's where you intend to go up, you can use anyone with movement speed to go to the portal. I used to do it solo on my RDM and just had another person follow in case. You can avoid the chariot easily by just going around the pillars in the middle of the room.

Thanks, I was wondering about how hard that was. Do you think that killing 12 to 16 of the fomors on the first floor will yield enough cells to skip the 2nd floor altogether as planned? If it doesn't we could kill a few fomors if need be on the SW path on floor 2 to make up for it.

You may as well farm the whole 1F if you don't intend on doing 2F. You'll get more gear as well on the 3F gears so it shouldn't be a problem.

Do you mean the 16 fomors on the west path, or literally every mob on the floor?

Well what ever path you choose, farm all of it. You wanted to farm the West path so farm all 16 mobs + Hammerblow.

yes do that, if you don't do morrigan. We always clear those fomors if we skip morrigan or do the dekka route, due to less cells ( and those fomors die very fast anyway).

generally I only find it necessary to do two - three rooms on 1F unless we get screwed on abi or magic cells.

but then again, when I also take us through an extra nm than most of you seem to do. (either hammer > dekka > g1g > g3g > lac or hammer > powder > g3g > lac )

yes, generally, it's ok just clearing 2 rooms. But it happened a few runs that we didn't get enough , say, abi or magic or SJ, doing the dekka route, even after killing CC. Hell, we even used to pop the dup Imp roffl, but its faster to clear more on 1F, those 3 imps have a hell of HP.

    Hi again.

We've done SS boss twice now and have lost both times. The first time at 25% with a full wipe, but the second time at 12% due to a time-out, though I'm sure we would've been able to kill it no problem had we had a little more time. However, the problem is that we go through the Dekka path usually. We really only have one person that needs Morrigan's, and he's usually being 2box'd while one of our other members needs Marduk who is usually there.

Today was the day we wiped at 12%, through some mishap our monk ended up not getting a magic cell. I'm thinking of spending a little more time on the first floor farming the other fomors to get more cells, since she almost went into boss without black belt either. Dekka and Hammerblow go fine, but it's the floor with the Devilet that screws us up. What's the best way to pull him? It's been so frustrating because we waste so much time on that floor. Usually we end up killing all gears but one since no one needs GG, which I assume is easily avoidable. I think if we were to be able to get past Devilet fairly quickly we would have no problem with the boss.

Sorry again, but none of us are really that proficient at salvage, but from our low man groups we've gotten 3 Hikazu Sune-Ates out of like 4-5 runs, and it's just so disheartening having those and not being able to get the 25 piece.

Since you're having a lot of trouble with the Devilet, you need to clear that whole room because as you know it does run every 10% pretty much. All you need to do is space out your members, try to anticipate its path and do a quick claim spell. Mages can use Dia, and your Monks can use Chi Blast. My group doesn't do this wing at all, but I used to do it a lot with other people but it still gives a lot of time for the boss. First floor shouldn't take longer than 20min. I'm sure once you get really good you can do it in under 20, but I'm guessing it takes 25 min or so for you guys. The zone takes a lot of practice on every floor to make it go smoothly. Just keep the pulls coming on the 3F and eventually all will fall into place.

How many people and what setup do you take? I can give you a breakdown of what we do in SSR when we take the Dekka path, hopefully it helps. We typically take anywhere from 5-8 ppl, most of the times it's going to be 6-7.

Before we enter the run, we decide on one 'main' tank that will lot all gear cells first.

    First Floor
We have 1 person constantly pulling 2 mobs at a time, we've drilled it so that we have a tank on each mob. Once the main tank has HP and most key gear cells unlocked, we'll start heading down to the Hammer area (Usually takes anywhere from 6-9 fomors). Check the chests while ppl are fighting fomors, MP restore items are pretty useful. Once we arrive at the hammer area, depending if the BRD has magic or not we'll wait for MP to be good. Once ready, we have the BRD sing minne's on tanks and the main monk supertanks all the fomors. While supertanking, both tanks engage on the hume monk on the far right (magic cell). After magic drops, we have a tank on each mob until the fomors are cleared and hammer pops. While hammer is being fought, have your brd do songs then head up to the portal.

Time spent on 1st floor: 18-22 mins, on average about 20.

    Second Floor
Since you're taking Dekka path, you'll head NW and clear the Devilet/Dekka.

Time spent on 2nd floor: ~12 mins

    Third Floor
Even if no one needs Skadi Hands, you should clear the entire room + Gyro Gear1 anyways because you'll save more time. Killing that last gear and the NM will only add about 3-4 mins. Trying to kill the devilet and avoiding magic aggro will just hinder your time. Once the gears and gyro gear is dead, spread out and everybody needs to be trying to claim devilet when he runs away, mages can use dia, tanks can chi blast etc.

When you've unlocked the door, head East and you should have plenty of time to kill Gyro Gear3. Your puller needs to be quick with pulls, while having minimal links. We typically have both tanks fight 1 mob, and our puller doesn't even engage. We have the 2nd mob lined up and slept asap. If we get more than 1 add, we spread out and put a tank on each while mages keep the other things slept. While GG3 is being fought, send someone to the west portal.

Time spent on 3rd floor: ~28 mins

If your group is able to handle this, then you'll have close to 40 minutes left for boss, which is overkill but at least you'll know you arent rushed for time. I hate LAC with a passion, just because it's the only salvage boss that can't be zerged so I'd reccomend a good 15-20 mins on it to be safe.

We take in generally 6-7, sometimes 8 but generally the eighth is kind of a dead weight and really only gets weapon cell and any other extras that we get.

Normally, I try to shoot for WAR MNK MNK RDM WHM BRD, with the 7th being a THF if we can or another DD. I think we really screwed up on the first floor, Hammerblow ended up taking 35 minutes because I unnecessarily died. I haven't thought of super tanking it, but what kind of gear should the monk have to do it safely? I know that counters will take off a bit of the other fomors. I can't quite remember how much they hit our Monk for but it wasn't like a negligible amount. Taking off 15 minutes from the first floor would be a godsend.

I was asking around about how to effectively do the Devilet without going through the gears, and one option that I got was pulling with Mamoolbane or a long delay ranged weapon, though I think that clearing out the gears would actually benefit us because items in the chests generally help out a lot on the boss.

Thanks for all the input so far!

I have never read this bit of info anywhere, although this could be because i'm not THF and it is a mystery for me, but a month ago my group's THF found out that you can hide from the fomors, including those in Hammer's room.

This might not be useful for many groups, but if you low man this area a lot, your THF will probably be a main DD and as suck will likely have JA by the time you reach the room. There's a million and a half ways of handling this room and everyone does what fits them best, but pulling the fomors and then using hide to shake them instantly makes this room a bit faster.

However you may use it, i just wanted to put it here because I honestly had not seen this anywhere yet :O

THF can use hide to shed aggro from undead as long as he/she is out of aggro range, which can only be done with flee or increased movement speed gear.

Give your thf the first range and leg/feet cell and 2nd JA, esp. if you plan on doing Powderkerg NM on 2nd floor. SSR is the only zone that actually benefits bigger group. You can bring 9+ ppl and gear up most of them.

On 3rd floor, clear all the gears for extra cells. GG1 has ridiculous drop rate, we only take this path when some1 needs lv15 Morrigan/Ares and out of the 5 kills, 2 dropped lv35 skadi hands.

Bring a pet job to keep it busy, we normally bring WHM/SMN. Carby will catch up with the Imps when it cuts corner. Tanks should get ready to pull hate off WHM ASAP.
