Monday night we did SilverSeas, and got UsuHead and MardukFeet, as well as SkadiBody and MorriHands off of Boss...
Completed 3 items that night, rofl. Needed Skadi Hands for a full-set of drop win that was wanted.
is the route w/dekka on 2nd floor really harmful if u plan on doing boss run, or is PY a must?
all NM's + boss Dekka side isn't that much harder then Morrigan route. It does, however, take slightly more time.
cool, most of the /sh runs i been going w/skip dekka cause its more time consuming than PY, which sucks for me cause marduk 35 feet have a chance at dropping x.x
no it doesnt, marduk doesnt drop... ever..
such a random zone. 2/2 on hammeblow the past 2 runs -_- 0/life on ares legs. Gotta love it!
My linkshell has started its own salvage runs and I've sorta been setting things up/helping our strat guy with his strats etc. From all the reading I've been doing a fair share of people seem to be a fan of brd x2, My basic group set up is 2-3dd, thf, brd, rdm, whm, cor. I'm the thief and still learning pulls/strats. My basic question is about CC and the gear train. Since we're new should we just stick with the normal sac pull and peeling gears off? Also I hadn't thought about burning 2 hours on Ramparts. We'll try that next SSR run for sure.
We're still getting members so brd x2 isn't an option yet. Brd + Cor is sexy so far, but can I leave it that way or should I really push for a second bard? Also the cor could come on a DD job (war or drg) sometimes we only have 2 dds. Think it's worth it to have our cor come on war/sam or drg and just have 1 bard?
I'll keep digging through the thread, but man any suggestions would be killer and mucho appreciated. Just for overall party dynamics/strats etc. My main mnk is 4/5 usukane and just needs 35 body so I'm really pushing to get citadel for him (dude is a great guy) So mostly, any strats to help us get CC would be really appreciated.
The whole benefit that can come from 2x brd is that you put the second brd in place of the whm, so if you ran with 6 in a typical setup of DDx2, thf, rdm, brd, whm but changed to DDx2, thf, rdm, brdx2. It all depends on your setup but if you can make it work then it will speed up runs as 4 songs are better than 2. Cor probably already works just as well as the second brd but as it seems you run with 7 you can just stick the thf in a party on his own as he will normally be too busy pulling to beenfit from melee buffs.
Then again there is the option of having your 2nd brd as puller, there are a lot of options and different groups with different levels (in terms of gear and skill) of players and setups. Just find what works for you, 2 brds won't necessarily make runs easier than brd + whm.
COR+BRD > 2 BRD in all cases; DD rolls tend to be stronger than songs once you have one BRD for Marches, another BRD can't give more refresh, and Monk's Roll is sexy for chariots and Poroggo. My runs tend to be DD DD THF BRD COR SCH + RDM.
Encourage your COR to DD.
About the CC pull: you mean pulling ramparts off, not gears? I think everyone does some variant of that. The variants are killing the roaming gears vs pulling the ramparts back to the start, whether you pull all the ramparts and chariot the first time or do multiple sacs, and whether the THF (or other trainer) dies, logs out or runs away to lose aggro from the train.
The last is easy with Fanatic's Drink, but I believe it's possible without as well: Gather the room with Powder Boots flee, head south to the next chest room, wait for the mob to come, pop PD and flee back to join the rest of the party. This relies on people claiming their ramparts in a timely fashion, of course; I'm not sure how well it works to pop PD after gathering the room to give them a bit more time and just walk south. I expect that it should work fine, just require more finesse at dodging around the train when you flee back rather than running through it, as PD will be down. I only do this pull occasionally, mostly when I need to 2-box our THF. But in a pinch, any Powder Boots job could do the pull. I've done it on BRD a couple of times.
yeah the flee boots trick works nicely, but i dont usually bring them boots. I tried it the other day because i happened to have found a hermes quencher in a chest.
My group is curently using that setup:
COR * BRD * WHM * DRK/SAMorNIN * MNK/NIN * DD/SAMorSAM/WAR * + THF/DRK and possibly a RDM when we have extra ppl.
It's from far the best setup we found. If your third DD can be a DRG it's incredible strong. Chaos roll alone with DRK in PT kinda worth 2 minuet so the brd can just toss 2 march or even 1 march/minuet. Also the DRK has acces to stun/absorbTP that can be very usefull on Gear-s- if he knows when to stun, that save a lot of time (same with THF). DRG is my favorite extra DD because of polearm doing amazing dammage on gear-s- + angon. SAM is also good for SC.
Might looks dangerous for healing but we have like no problem fully clear SSR (morri path) without RDM. EvokersRoll, /SCH and ballad is just enough refresh for any good whm, even on final boss as long as you're able to deal 25% dammage before each charm.
Regarding the clearing 4F, I meant to get shots with Timestamp, but I was panicking and forgot to (Deimos Cuisses dropped, I won the lot, and the thunderstorm here blinked my power for a second so I was freaking out because the guy who lotted passed once I won, so I was worried that nobody that wanted them would get them as I was R0 over and over)
The best I can do tonight is pull the log from windower, which I'll quote below. This was one of our fastest times, even including me blinking in and out of R0 and losing time on the pull because of that.
Just under 12 minutes from porting up to killing CC, and we're not nearly as experiencing as Neosutra is at Salvage. (We also, while having good gear, don't have the level of gear that I assume his group does)[02:03:49]Furionstormrage obtains a pair of Deimos's cuisses.
[02:03:49]Leonidus obtains a fractus cell.
[02:03:49]Rowanbael obtains a cotton coin purse.
[02:03:49]Rowanbael obtains a piece of alexandrite.
[02:03:50](Rowanbael) pullers head out
[02:15:41]Jaydog defeats the Citadel Chelonian.

I can see a few minutes being shaved off of that time.
the debate was on the whole floor duration, not untill you kill cc. My group does the floor in 15 minute if no mistakes.
To be perfectly honest Ive been pretty busy and have lacked the motivation to piece together the 25 4 min long fraps videos (anyone know how to get it to just save to one big file? It limits the size to around 5 gigs during video capture).
Ive already compressed them, just need to get a video editing software to put it all together.
As for the video itself, Id like to do it again, as the day I recorded we were missing half our people (had 4 old people and 3 new), so the run was pretty meh. Had to stop on the floor and explain the pull to the thf, no 2 hours for ramparts, etc.
If people still wanna see for the dynamics of the floor, I can post what I have, but I would rather post something that is good, so people can get the right idea.
Also, as you keep ignoring Darkhelmit, I stated a good average time to shoot for is 10 minutes (clearly possible as Furion showed), and our =best= time was under 9 minutes. So again, fuck off and stop feeling sorry for yourself.
And if you are doing it right Mdkuser, you should be zoning up within 45-1min seconds of killing CC. (We usually have thf flee down center of room to head to portal while we are fighting, or just after if we need to kill chariot still).
I dont want to sound like an ass here but your 4/5 Usu MNK should be able to give you all advice you need. . . ?
Maybe he isnt that Salvage experienced after all and maybe just been a follower w/o knowing wtf is going on?
Just asking, you can ask your questions here though, just pointed that out!
You never would have budged from saying how much everyone sucks if they can't do this floor in 8 minutes unless you got called out on it. At least now your numbers are a little more reasonable after you realized that you're not always as fast as you thought you were.
Well, time to go back to feeling sorry for myself. Q.Q
