I'd be worried about more chances to screw up if all 4 went, but I suppose as long as all 4 got them relatively close to the entry portal and some lost aggro, they wouldn't get all the way back to the center room before you could grab them again. I wanna try Citadel with 4, but I'm worried about killing the Rampart on 3F E before getting owned. The gears lose aggro far too easily, and it's never all of them losing aggro at the same time.. Some always decide to stay there.

I'm thinking though... It takes about 20-30 minutes to prepare 4 people for efficient fighting, on 1F. Clearing 3F E for all but 1 single gear would take about two minutes per single gear and three minutes per triple gear, so 18 minutes (there are 4 of each gear type right?). The rampart a few more minutes, and travel time, should let us port up with at least 35 minutes left I would think. The only thing I really wonder about, and from what I can tell has never been directly answered, is that even though Citadel is a turtle type mob, does he take any decent damage from melee? Or will it take 20 minutes to kill with just MNK and THF attacking it with an occasional RDM nuke now and then? (I was thinking RDM BRD MNK THF.)

It takes decent melee damage, and doesn't go into its shell. So as long as you have dispel, melees should do fine. Our monks usually hundred fist it, and end up tanking the entire fight.

I think your main problem would be that it's gonna take ~30+ minutes to kill the 4 ramparts to pop turtle in the first place.

We don't have deaggro problems with doors because we instruct pullers to periodically redamage the door.

How much HP does each rampart have, and how are they on Reinforcements?

How close is this usually cutting it with the six-gear train?

Also, I read that as "red mage the door"... was gonna ask what the hell that meant...

We have no problem with the geartrain catching us pulling out the ramparts. The thf that sacs the room has something to do with that: they usually train it all the way to the farthest south extent as part of the sacpull.

The ramparts have a fair amount of HP each; a monk using 2h (what we typically do on the first 2 doors) will only take off 30-40% during 2h.

Doors will deaggro if you outrun them. If you run at a slower pace, let them be "in range" then they won't deaggro you at all. Whenever I'm door pulling I'll just run > stop and let it catch up to me > run > repeat.

Be careful of outrunning them when they are opening/closing doors. Long animation and they stop to do it.

I see, so the Ramparts on 4F are just like the ones on 3F then. That kinda sucks, but I still wonder if it's doable. How long would you estimate Citadel would take to kill with RDM BRD MNK, after popping and pulling it safely?

We usually killed it within 5 mins with MNK THF NIN + random RDM or BLM nukes

I'd imagine if you blow SP on it, you can probably kill it within 10 mins

But I'd imagine sacing shit for popping the rampart is gonna be a bigger problem over anything else

I'd personally box a random account to sac all machinery and pull the ramparts...that should simplifies things a lot since you wouldnt be losing your 3 main characters.

Though from what Alma has told me, the 6 gear train sweep the entire area...so even after a succesful pull, finding a safe zone where you can kill 4 ramparts with 3 people without being raped by gears is gonna be...hard.

They don't enter the entry room or the exit room from what I understand, so that's where I'd pull them too (the entry room). Also note, I outlined that I wanted to do this with four, and then I asked about killing the Ramparts and Citadel with 3. The fourth person would be a THF to sac and then he'd come back to help with Citadel Chelonian after all the prep stuff is done.

An hour from starting 3F East to kill Chelonian would be my goal now, 40 minute prep time. With four people and the starting chest cells I imagine we could do that. Something to try. XD I'm sticking to the belief that any NM is doable with just 4 people except Peryton, so far (can't think of any reason for others to require more atm).

I still think your problem is going to be time spent killing 5 doors. I'd burn the mnk SP on the 3rd floor door (returning gears can be a bitch) and sac pull the ramparts on floor 4 one by one. It'll take probably a full hour from entering 3rd floor to finished.

3rd floor returning gears can be distracted by having the thf use flee and making a 2nd circuit through the room. The annoying thing about 3rd floor is that the reinforcements are undead so you need a bard for sleep (except ghosts)

Blu could probably work as well. But who does anything without a bard?

Re: Salvage - Silver Sea Remnants - thread 2

We tried the mega today with 7 people and 15min left on clock. We didnt have any brd and the only melee were 2war/nin (had 1 rng and blm). End up losing at 5% because of time out , but considering the setup we had, I think we did well.

My question is, did anyone ever try WAR tanking other mega. It's obvious we would have won with BRD (probably in 10min), but is it also doable in other zone? We dont really have any reliable mnk in our static, and doing warx2 is usually the more conveniant. The only other mega I tried tanking with war only was Arrapago, and it didnt work well. I might try again using def food, but it would make the fight much longer.

Either way, it's the last time I ever attempt a run without brd. Didnt think it would do such a large difference on the way up, especially against Dekka's "hundred fist" >_>

We've done WAR + MNK tank pretty much all of them when our other mnk wasn't on or weak. Ridill doesn't go on the chariot unless we're trying to zerg last %, we prefer the "Smoother/managable" fight rather than stressing nuissance.

Dekka hits for like 20 with Phalanx II on.

Our rdm has slow 2/para2 capped, and we don't really have any blu. >_> No luck there

Anyway, dekka was never a problem, and I doubt he will ever be a problem again...I just got surprised by his attack speed today. Mp was starting to be an issue by the end of the fight, and it lasted a lot longer than it does usually (probably cause of defender).

Re: Salvage - Silver Sea Remnants - thread 2

On our first few LBC runs, we had two NIN/DRKs ping pong the Chariot back in forth with hate from Sleep/Stun/ninjitsu, while I (monk), chased it around and meleed it. It wasn't very efficient, but it got us wins. This was before we knew about weakening Homing Missle.

In recent runs, we've had one of the NIN/DRKs go WAR/NIN - and basically he and I tank the bosses straight up. We attempted Battleclad Chariot last night, and got it to 40% in eight minutes, before timeout. The fight is a joke otherwise.

The only death was on the first Discoid. We had mages slightly misplaced, so it only wound up hitting 3 or 4 of us... I took 1079(?) damage, the WAR took the same, or something similar... the BRD died.

But MNK/NIN and WAR/NIN dual tank definitely works on bosses in my opinion, especially with dual march + haste. As long as you routinely have Ichi up and ready to go for AoEs, your golden (start casting Ichi whenever it readies Discharge or Inertia Stream, you'll have shadows immediately after... save Ni for regular melee hits).
