A single experience confirms nothing. I got 2 machas and a deimos in one run. It meant absolutely jack shit. (And that was prior to 6F being found)

I think one of our thfs has stolen a body cell from one of them, if that means anything.
My group has been doing more or less the same path Slott posted for some time now. We've been able to do 2F QQA 4F QQTH Psycheflayer 5F QQA Archaic Chariot 6F QQAx2 and the boss in a single run with six people(MNK MNK THF BRD WHM RDM). I've been thinking about going RDM/BLM for ES Gravity on 3F QQTH. I've heard it's possible, but I was just wondering how well it works from someone with routine experience doing this.
I never sub BLM, but it's not unheard of, if not exactly common, to stick Gravity even without ES. Maybe 10% land rate?Originally Posted by Mojo

Even with ES, the Resist Gravity trait can and will fuck you over.Originally Posted by Amastacia
Our group tried gravitying the THF with ES, then we got the "Resist! Qiqirn Treasure Hunter resist the effect of Gravity"
Needless to say, we have never bothered with that ever again, especially since giving RDM or BLM duplicatus means that your melee doesn't have it, and in case of melee/WAR, that makes a huge difference in killspeed.
Because I fail to see how any MNK would need to eat sushi on anything in Salvage esp. considering he said he had merits? Of course I wouldn't know, I'm not a MNK or anything.Originally Posted by ringthree

Hello! I'm new to the forums and looking for some Salvage strat help. My group has cleared Bhaflau and is working on Arrapago atm. We never seem to get to the top with enough time. We are decently geared but no uber gears, no BB mnks. We have a good variety of jobs available. About 9 or 10 diehard members that show every run and quite a few others who show up about half the time.
Basicly we need help with strats. Where to go, what to kill and how to kill it. We learn something new every run and are always trying new things but I would like to use strats that other people have already been sucessfull with. Personaly I think we kill too much early on and spread our cells out too thin betwean the DDs. Our nin gets all stats and equips before anyone, after that its freelot to either mages or melee depending on the cell with a few exceptions.
So if you have consistant sucessfull runs please post your strats. Assume I'v never done a salvage and break it down barny style.Or hit me up in game on Bahamut server, Mastershadow.
first suggestion: dont use ninjas. god made mnks for a reason. we typically use 1-2 mnk/nin, usually blu/nin, sometimes war/nin, sometimes sam for DD.Originally Posted by Master Shadow
Our mnks are not the greatest geared mnks. Until we get some pimped out mnks w/ gear, merits and skill we might be able to pull that off. I'm not so sure how it would work now tho ; ;
It's not always the MNK's either, it's just a general play skill issue. If people diddle around and waste time you're going to be more fucked than if your MNK's pay attention but aren't the greatest geared.
Mages are good at being useless and wasting time in Salvage.
While that's true for the most part, badly geared MNKs make a lot of stuff in Salvage quite impossible, no matter how well they play. :/ Especially ones that don't like Haste gear...Originally Posted by Churchill
Yeah, but BB isn't necessary. Typical sky gear and haste gear macros for utsu pretty much cover being able to do Salvage. While that cuts out a good portion of MNK's, it's 2007, not that hard to have haidate, brown belt, and fuma's.
Fixed. I hate people who only use haste gear for utsu on MNK.Originally Posted by Churchill
I mean unless you macro in Byakko's/Walahra over Usukane for shadows, but I don't even bring the haste pieces anymore.
Not melee'ing in Haidate unless you have Usu pants/feet is the kind of person I wouldn't take to Salvage anyway.
my group has never done the soulflayer here due to lack of interest, so we've finally decided we should make a crack at it... i know it has some full dispelga that'S a pain in the ass, anything else we should know and basic start pls?
Haidate is does not make you a good Monk. Neither does BB or any of that shit. With Haste/March and minimal retards meleeing the Chariots they are pretty fucking eay to tank. Maybe it's because I've tanking Khim, Cerb, Wyrms, etc but Chariots aren't that hard and gear skill>gear. I for one have had horrible luck on haidate and don't have it and I'm still better then 90% of the Monks I have seen. AF2 Pants are a pretty good substitute for tanking, especially something you don't want spamming TP moves. Subtle Blow and 5% increase to kicks isn't so bad, especially when you stack some SB. Like Rajas, AF2 Gloves, BB, etc. It's the close minded people who think their BB or Haidate is what makes them great that I laugh at. I have easily outparsed/outtanked all the Monks in my previous LSes and they all had Haidate over me.Originally Posted by Churchill
It's not really about the Haidate though. A monk at lv75 with crappy gear due to lack of availability is fine, but even they should have the basic 8% on belt, 5% on head, and 3% on feet, as a starting point. Tanking isn't the issue I find, anyone can tank with no haste gear if they have the spells, it's about kill speed.Originally Posted by Judai
Some of the monks I've had on pickup runs (I do them occasionally to not waste permits) wear life belt and panther mask, and other such lackings of haste, and I just wonder to myself "why...?"
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if the gear they replace haste with wasn't also so shitty.
Man, I'm so tired and I made so many typos in that, lol.. Oh well.. Yea, if you get Monks wearing shit like that they probably don't understand how to play very well anyways. I just hate seeing people say you are a noob if you don't have Haidate or you suck if you don't do something a certain way like he seems to be spouting with some of his previous statements.
No, really. If you choose to not melee in Haidate you're an idiot.
