Shinobi Ring - use like Sorc Ring?

Like the other posters said, there are other more readily available and easy to manage acc for haste exchanges out there in terms of equipment to where you shouldn't have to bother.

I am Hume and I have 2 HP merits but I also have my sorcerer ring activate in white HP. I use:

Blue Cape
Zenith Mitts
Zenith Slacks
2 Electrum Rings
Black Coterhardie
Asklepios (100% from a pop NM in Den of Rancor)

If I could convince people to let me lot a Vivian Ring for NIN, it would be possible to activate Shinobi Ring through macroing in full Shura, Scouter's Rope, Vivian, Serket, and Star Necklace. I don't think I can convince them though. Too bad, because it would be a big improvement on Rajas or an accuracy ring in that slot.

It might be conceivable for a Taru to get it through Fasting/Ether Ring and Astral Earring.

A nin I did a few runs of Excavation Duty, Lebros Assault T1, with insisted that before we entered he would exit the zone, mijin gakure, come out of weakness, and then not cure him that way he could have haste +4% to beat on the walls. Seemed like a waste of time to me but you have no idea how excited he was about it...

He should have used the lvl 70 JSE earring like Sci said earlier, that + the ring and you can swap everything else out for ATK/STR since you're near the gear haste cap.

NINs get hit without shadows quite a bit. There really is no reason to use this, unless of course you want to end up dead faster.

Shinobi Ring+Earring+Full Acc/Att is pretty funny stuff, but it would be cool to watch that+full dual wield/haste getup, since I could swear the Earring haste didn't count against haste cap.

To all the people that complain about mages healing them past the 75% HP threshold...

Take the BLM that's doing the most damage by using an enabled Sorcerer's Ring, and lower their HP even further, causing them to die even faster.

Can someone please explain to me how Magic Attack Bonus +10 is going to make Obligatory Big Scary Monster (tm) die faster if the BLM using it is dead for 60% of the fight?

So far the only answer has been "It's all about the ePeen, Ren" but that doesn't tell me anything I didn't already know...

A smart BLM won't be using it in situations where they're likely to draw hate and die or get nailed by a bad AoE, and frequently if a BLM has hate long enough for the mob to strip stoneskin, blink, and 75% of their HP, that extra ~200 HP isn't gonna save them.

When you're doing something like Early Bird Gets the Wyrm where everybody is freaking out over AoE damage and Stoneskin needs to be recast after every TP move, you'd think that people would wise up a little bit, but no... I can understand things like Kirin where you've got such a huge bullpen to pull from that it's really irrelevant if some five-year-old fan of big numbers gets him or herself eaten, but in fights like that... Why?

I gave them the benefit of the doubt in assuming that there's just some angle to this I'm not seeing, but I guess that was benefit best reserved elsewhere.

It's situational like everything. In a BC situation with the ever looming danger of 'gonna-ruin-your-shit-AoE' it's not worth the risk.

When you've got a limited number of people and limited time it's not time to flail (get it?) around your e-peen and go down in a blaze of glory.

Sorcerer's Ring is best used for xp situations mostly. I never use it when I go /WHM which is generally what I use for farming sky, sea, etc. For HNM situations I do normally try to use the ring but you can't be stupid and needle the mob the entire time I save my MP pool for MB purposes where I can get the best usage out of it. Now granted, I've found myself kiting mobs a few times but I like to see big damage and being hume I have the advantage of not dying as quick as a taru does when something like that happens.

Whoa whoa whoa wait...people still take BLMs to Kirin!?!

I have both NIN and BLM leveled to 75 and have experimented with both of these rings.

Sorc Ring is great when used in certain types of situation where death is not imminent. BLMs are not supposed to take damage, so sacrificing a little HP is not a big deal in most situations as long as you have good tanks and don't go crazy pulling hate. The damage increase from the ring is well worth it. The reason a BLM can be in white HP and still have latent active is because the latent is active when you are under 76% of your base HP. You base HP is modified by +/-HP gear, but NOT by HP to MP gear. So items like serket ring and zenith allow a BLM to be under 76% base while still white.

Shinobi Ring is an excellent ring, for soloing only. If you're soloing it is the best ring because you don't take much damage anyway and the +acc on the finger is not really necessary because you are fighting easy monsters. But as for regular use, it is just silly and asking to die.
