Improving your graphics - do I need an upgrade?

So I figured since I've been seeing people's screenshots around, and they don't quite look like mine. I know that my graphics card is not the best out there, and my computer specs aren't that great, but this computer has been reliable for a while now, and I'm hoping there's something I can do to fix it.

My current FFXI graphics look like this [pic 1] [pic 2]

As you can see they are blocky/misshapen/rough edges, etc. Obvious signs that my computer isn't running at peak. My computer, despite it's contents, can run two or three FFXIs at a time, with no problem, however, they don't look good.

Computer specs:

Intel Pentium 4 CPU: 2.53GHz
768MB of RAM
Radeon 9550 - 256MB mem

Is there any solutions? Overclocking what I have now? If just purchasing a new graphics card will solve this? Or should I just build something new, complete with a newer mobo. Any imput is appreciated. Thanks. ;3

You could do with more RAM, but without actually looking up your gfx card i'm pretty sure it's capable of more than it's running at; esp looking at your screenshot.

First thing- have you edited the resolution in windower (if u use) and changed the settings in config?

Looks like your background resolution is low whereas your windower resolution is semi high, try changing your BG resolution to something high like 1920X1020.

Editing my config worked, everything was on low, for some reason, thanks for the suggestion!
