Let me tell you about a girl I know,

This is my suggestion to you, and this is how I avoided having book 6 spoiled for me.

1. Limit your online activity. Seriously. Don't come to BG, don't go to 4chan, don't go to YTMND. Check your mail and get away from the computer. Don't even play your usual MMOs around the release date. There were people shouting "SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE" in fucking lower jeuno as soon as I logged on again after reading the book. It's much more likely to happen in that sort of environment than on a message board with moderators and registered users.

2. If you have to stand in line for your book, go alone and bring an iPod or some other means of obscuring your hearing. That way if someone does a little drive-by/walk-in spoiler shout, you won't hear shit. Yes, you may be the last person to know if someone fires off a few rounds in the bookstore, but that's just a risk you have to take as a HP fan in a modern world.

3. Read the book IMMEDIATELY after you get it. Don't take breaks, don't talk to people. Call in to work if you're working, skip your classes if you're taking summer classes. Don't even answer your phone. I don't know how fast you read, but I finished book 6 in like 18 hours with no breaks.

This may seem extreme, but I'd rather have everyone think I'm fucking psycho for a week than have the book spoiled for me.

If it makes you feel any better, the "spoilers" that have been popping up on YTMND and etc are all excerpts from a fanfic. There are a ton of Harry Potter theory/speculation pages around, and some of them have some pretty good evidence to support their theories. I'd be willing to bet 95%+ of the spoilers that have been making the rounds are all just speculation from those fansites.
