Played DRK, they have Thunder II, does that count?
Obviously there are HNMs where feeding tp = bad. In merit situations though, not subbing nin on war generally equals mp sponge and lower chains.

I don't see a reason to use GA in merippo nowadays, unless for some kind of fun and try something new...
i don't let warriors join my party without /nin... then if i see a GAX being weilded in my merit pt that war has about 2 minutes to swap to dual weild or i'll kick them and find someone else, whether i'm on my nin and raping the gax's damage... or if i'm on my rdm cure bombing the other melee cause the gimp gax isn't pulling hate, doesn't matter either way the gax fails.Originally Posted by Vejitta

My first Meripo was War/Nin, War/Nin, War/Sam (me, lol), Brd, Rdm, Whm.Originally Posted by Highlulu

I had no problem bounce tanking with them, and when the Whm started getting distracted by something and stopped giving haste, I had a much easier time than the other two since none of us had full on haste builds, just turban/dusk/dusk type. Seigan is 30 seconds, instant use, no matter what, without haste and a pecking flurry, Utsu: Ni can seem pretty damn far away.
War/Nin+Gaxe=fail
War/Sam+Gaxe+Proper build and playstyle= not fail.
Biggest thing is Martial Bhuj, if you want to be taken seriously with a Great Axe, get the Bhuj or don't bother.
Considering how fast you can hit the Floor of Victory even with shadows, I don't like to be without them.Originally Posted by Xavier
Funny thing was, one fight Haste wore on all of us, I had dumped my TP on the previous mob, the second War/Nin was... odd (Ohat/AF2 legs/Rutters O.o) so he wasn't really to be relied on. Well, the first War/Nin had voked a slept mob, and then Rampaged it crits+doubles, first Ichi down, Ni up, second Ichi down, then he was on recast as I voked/warcried to get it back, managed to turn it to me, then he popped a double/crit chain and it pecking flurry/dropped him.Originally Posted by Septimus
I didn't die once through extended tanking because S+TE (was) awesome.
I suspect it was "adjusted" with the Ballista change, because it never behaved properly for me again.
Either way, noone will accept a Gaxe war anymore, so I finally gave up on it, it's fun, but it isn't what people expect to see.
I didn't even have to use my A.K.Originally Posted by Kaylia

AK47?
Abaddon Killer.
Relic Gaxe is ok in exp pt
Anyways someone do Perdu/Unji vs Senj/perdu in exp pt
if you aren't rampaging, jinning, or fisting, get the hell out of my exp party.
Pretty sure relic thieves could beat alot of DD jobs (And no don't turn this into a ridill war vs mandau thief thread again we had one of those D: besides ridill war are hax )Originally Posted by Mifaco
Yes please! I just bought my Perdu scythe a couple weeks ago and im 41000/48000 now. Im looking forward to see some parses before I blow all my imperial standing for the katana. Then again If I dont see any conclusive parses before I get that 7k ill buy it anywayOriginally Posted by LinktheDeme

Yeah, sadly, you won't see Great Axe too often. In exp, it's no question dual wielding is better.
And a large number of HNMs, it's simply better to use Rampage.
Thieves are awesome on Colibri- piercing damage bonus goes a long way.Originally Posted by LinktheDeme
Cerberus. You don't want to give it too much tp, and flame spike is a pain with axe/ridill. That said, almost every job would be better than war in this situation.Originally Posted by Xavier
It's kind of funny with some of the arguments against g.axe posted here. Not that I'm saying I don't also believe /NIN is still better.
You say g.axe WARs are an MP sponge (implied /DRG or /SAM, no WAR in their right mind should g.axe with /NIN), however at the same time, you say g.axe WAR are gimp as heck and can't take hate because g.axe damage = lulz.
So which one is it?
Whenever I get sick of WAR/NIN (and I do, often, if I want to attack fast I'll just use my MNK), I jump onto WAR/SAM and seek up. I pull my share of hate and with seigan + third eye up, I don't take much more hits than a WAR/NIN that just got pecked/vorpal'd/AoE of any kind, trying to get ichi up. Even the best WAR/NINs take hits here and there, but at least a WAR/SAM expects to get hit (and hitting back), while the WAR/NIN tries to get shadows up (and not hitting back). Have to remember that even with fresh shadows, many mob TP moves will still strip all of them and do some damage, since they hit more than 3 times. However a third eye will blink all of that.
Anyway joining a party with other uber DDs around, like Ridill WAR/NINs or BB MNKs that know what they're doing, makes it even easier to join as the odd WAR/SAM or WAR/DRG, because ideally you'd expect them to have hate most of the time. If it turns out that way, you can go all out and put in your share of the damage as best as you can. If it turns out that you steal hate anyway, then it means you are doing just as much damage as they are. Either way you can't go wrong.
it's both.Originally Posted by Sanjiyan

2) use Great Axe on /NIN
they're not mutually exclusive, it's not one or the other.
Ever heard of AoE? You don't need hate to get hit, and utsusemi can block some of them.Originally Posted by Sanjiyan
