    Re: Haste Formula

Pretty sure that as quoted above, double march is 20% (Victory 11%, Advancing 9%), but what I don't know is what happens with SV. I'm assuming it caps at 25%, is that right?

Last night my party got jumped by an Ul'Yovra in Sea, and after some Charmga-related shenanagins we took it down. Part-way through the battle I used SV, then double March on the tank and melee for timers (and double Ballad on the mages, clearly).

I'm pretty sure that with SV active, V March plus Minuet would have been a much better choice for the tank and melee, can anyone confirm?

Thanks, and excuse the rather n00b question.

50% cap on total recast reduction (haste + fast cast)

~70% cap on melee attack speed reduction.
This doesn't apply to dual wield right?

edit: also anyone know the exact % of haste to go 70% faster then? (I can't find my calculator ; ; )
as others said, I don't know if the original research is still archived anywhere; my understanding is that the 70% is *just* haste (25% haste gear, +15% spell, +22% SV march 1, +18% SV march 2, hasso, and 10% haste belt is the maximum theoretical stack) this would take haste to 100% - I believe the original test used SV march 1 + SV march 2, haste gear and the spell to reach ~80% theoretical, and saw no improvement past approximately 70%.

the typical peak haste for a non x/sam non BBmnk would be in the area of 55-57% (most jobs peak around 20-22% haste in gear without extraordinary measures to reach the full 25%) sam and /sam give an additional 10% from hasso, of course.

the haste speed gains are presumably calculated after dual-wield reductions are applied, since they do not affect TP-gain rates. however, the resulting 'final delay' is the same regardless of which order the two modifiers are applied. (nature of multiplication.)

the songs count as separate spell effects, so you can stack them for a combined haste of approximately 40% assuming you don't bump a haste cap. you can test this easily with spell recast times yourself, if you'd like

Doh, I should have thought to test it that way already. Thanks for the help - I'll definitely do as you suggest.

Only problem with using SV Marchx2 last night was that the Yovra we were fighting used Charmga on the melee almost immediately afterwards. Good thing Lullaby stuck on them, haha.
