Old news? Never assume you aren't being watched on the internet. First thing one of my computer teachers told my class first day of school.
Got something to hide? hmmmm??????????????
Maybe the government could do a better job at stopping RMT if they patrol the internet? >.> i joke i kid.
if you don't have anything to hide i don't see what the big deal is. it doesn't inconvenience me in any way, it's done without me having to take any time out of my day. i don't give a shit then.
Yea, If you don't have anything to hide then it's really not an issue. If it doesn't make me take time out of my day then i'm totally fine with it to some extent. I mean if they want to spend their time reading the pointless websites I go to, then let em at it. lol
I think it kinda sucks they don't even hint at you that they're doing it, but I don't personally give a shit. Like the poster above said, if they wanna read my BG posts all fucking day, more power to them lol.
Welcome to 1970.
Have some encryption software.
At least he managed to include the link this time. He posted this on Alla without the link, and when people posted asking for proof, he got all indignant and told people to read the article before replying. Of course he immediately got 4 replies asking where the article was, and proceeded to then edit all his posts.
I have nothing to hide but again this is a real invasion of privacy. I went off on this same subject when SE started apparently scanning processes, its not about having something to hide its the fact they are doing it in the first place. Thats like a cop coming into your house and riffling thru your objects looking for some drugs you may or may not have without a warrant. It's not about caring, its about a civil right.
Don't say you don't care about this subject, because you most certainly should. I have absolutely nothing to hide from anyone but I am still upset at the fact my civil liberty's are being taken away 1 by 1. They can tap my phone without a warrant or the approval of a judge, they can track my online usage again without using a judge, what the fuck man. This is against the constitution and the foundation of country. I have every right to privacy, and they are infringing on my right.
***Off Topic***
Its funny how little our government cares about constitutional rights its funny. "In god we trust" on our currency, "One nation under god" in our pledge, people being searched for no reason what so ever, Illegal wars, our government blocking science on religious biases, God dammit this country is going to hell.
I would draw the line at the invasion of said household by a cop at random looking for drugs. As I said i don't mind what they monitor as long as the prosecutions keep to the law. I have nothing to hide and if they're not interfereing with my life (IE running into my house to look at shit) then let them waste time, lol. I understand it's a Civil Liberty, but if they tap someone and he was a bomber or a child molester who could potentially kill children/adults, is that a success? If they scan your computer and find your BG posts then nothing happens. If they scan someone elses internet results and find child porn, then it potentially saves 100's of childrens futures. It's really a touchy subject, but as long as the prosecution stays honest does it affect you?
this is all digital, as in it doesn't effect you in any way, unlike a cop coming into your house and searching whenever they want. it's completely different.
It's completely not. Again, yes it would be effective at stopping some people from child molesting, etc, but, again, a cop coming into every household searching for drugs is going to be a great success as well. They need to go about another way of searching for stuff like this without infringing on rights. It doesn't matter who it saves or what it does, its the law and they are obligated to uphold it, not break it. Some things are meant to keep the government in check and some times give them a hard time. Does it not concern you that the government has the ability to look at you and see every person you have called in the last few days, every single website you viewed, they have a database about you.Originally Posted by izembo

It doesn't matter if you see it in every day life, the example with the cop, they could come into your house while you're at work, search you, and put your shit back were they got it, and I promise you if you were aware they did this you would be pissed off. They had no right to search you, you did nothing wrong, It doesn't effect you in the sense that they burst into your home while you were there guns a-blazin' but I bet you (As well as I) would be pissed off that someone had the audacity to do that and violate a personal privacy.
It helps to not be doing anything illegal and/or retarded eh? I have no problems with the government browsing through my shit considering there's nothing there to see.

again, monitoring a digital medium is NOTHING. who cares, there is no reason to. infringing on physical rights is something completely and totally different.
they are indeed 2 entirely seperate things. they can monitor internet/phone/etc without it effecting you in any way/shape/form. and if you have nothing to hide, why does it matter.
if they put my stuff back we're they found it i wouldn't mind. If they want to touch my playboys they're more then welcome to flip through em if they want to touch them...lolThis is not to solution. The other thing you mentioned, about they need to find ways of searching without interfereing with some of our rights. It's very hard to appease everyone, and for example i'll talk about the drug thing. Mostly, you could say Cops could send undercover people in, set up a sort of crackdown on whomever is selling whatever. Or on the off chance they find something online, they're able to hunt said individual down, without the risk of sending a man in undercover. While the risk still arises in the capture of the criminal. Often times tracking someones internet usage takes less risk, and is can be done faster. Convience is everything in todays world.
When I wa sa teen, i got questioned every mall I went too with my friends after 10pm. Was it annoying? yea, was it a violation of my rights? probably, but did I have anything to hide? No I was 16 so they let us walk away every time, it was just Routine that they ask us to show ID and why we're there. My neighborhood isn't exactly high class, but if they have to question me for the good of the area, i'm more then ok with it to lower gang violence & drug selling in my neighborhood.
QFT! I can't believe what people will put up with these days. The problem is if you don't care about this and let it happen what are they going to attempt next? It is a very slippery slope when you start allowing the government to pull shit like this without checking them.Originally Posted by senoska

The authorities seeing my internet history is far different from them seeing my sex at home or some wierd shit. Honeslty I think we're seeing a gray area on this subject. Yea, this is the SAME concern, being a civil liberty of our privacy, however there are many areas where this is situational as well, if anyone can agree with me.Originally Posted by Viena
