Would you be afraid to give your credit card number to anyone in real life in the first place? Would you give them a key to your mail box and tell them to go crazy? If you're going to debate this please use some intelligence to support your case.
It doesn't matter why.. would you you feel safe doing this?

Do you not ever sit and and wonder why every time you login to your bank account or buy something online the http in your browser winder changes to https and that cute little padlock thing appears in the bottom of your browser?

Honestly I fail to see your point. I fail to see how a government spying on our internet usage and reading our emails has a fucking thing to do with anything you're talking about.

Well maybe you should learn how the Internet works and the variety in ways that networks are implemented?

Some protocols are not private and easily read, others are private and keep third parties out.

The government is not snooping into protected and private protocols.

Feeling and believing that your emails are private doesn't make them private.

There was an artical posted here not too long ago that made it mandatory that all ISPs that provide service in the USA install a program on their servers that makes it so the FBI can easily go thru and read what websites were viewed, and emails received, I fail to see what you're trying to get at.

Of course their backing behind this was "We are trying to catch Terrorists" which seems to be the way they get what they want, if they keep our country under a constant state of fear who will contest them slowing turning our government into a dictatorship? If you fight the fact that they are doing illegal deeds you are instantly labeled an unpatriotic American and are publicly shunned as a result, this is no different, same as wiretaps. It IS an illegal search, JUST like the wiretaps.

Considering I have helped ISPs comply with this law on one hand.

    But on the other..

Here is a me watching someone accessing administrative information on their web server in real time..

How is anything you do online with non private protocols like email and http private? I can make this argument all day, and considering I am right I will be right all day.

If you want privacy.. there is technology out there that provides it. PGP is a good place to start for email, Gaim and such have ssl plugins to protect your instant messages, and if you want your communications on this web site to be private chip in a little cash and buy Sonamaa a SSL cert.
