Darter aggro...?

First off, if this doesn't belong into Advanced please put it into the Newbie section. Figured that since it involves HNM camping it should be here.

So, on Tuesday, June 12th after the update, I went to camp Fafnir as usual after a maintenance and read some forums while waiting for windows. When I tabbed back to my screen two Darters were hitting me, both white (as in unclaimed) and without any prior action from me. No spell, no attack, nada.

Here's the log from when it happened, blurred a lot of stuff since it was mostly chat or emotes. All font colors are as they were by default.

The same thing happened to a few other people in the Aery on that day, if I saw it correctly, but lag makes judgement kinda hard.

Anyways, my question is if this has ever happened to anyone or if you've ever heard of this? Because that would make Fafhogg a tad bit annoying.

Were you resting? If someone in your alliance tag'd one, zoned it while you were resting, it could have gone to you. Otherwise, I don't know.

One of the funniest things to happen to my linkshell actually was when we accidentally claimed a darter and (I had died coming in due to a sneak wearing off...) I was at about 200 HP with shadows. I attempted to charm it- failed and pulled aggro. It killed me RIGHT as I successfully charmed it... the ally of course kicked me. The darter however, remained claimed to my dead body, and began to dismantle both my linkshell and other linkshells in the pit. It would just randomly link with another darter, and begin to own ass as everyone wondered who the fuck the darter was claimed to.


I actually had to get a raise, and call for help on the darter before anyone could kill it. God, that was awesome.

Could have been a similar situation, that alliance hate really causes for some weird situations.

Alt+tabbing can cause you to change targets, it's possible you accidentally cast on one. Though I don't know why it wouldn't be in your chat log.

Alternatively, someone in your alliance might have picked one up and it decided it didn't like you, as was mentioned.

Silly rabbit, darters don't aggro. Unless of course you or your alliance did something monumentally stupid.

I have another partially on-topic darter story. No pics, I shoulda but I forgot. While camping today, with darters off, Nidhogg popped, and the LS that got it had a summoner. Said summoner used Leviathan to do BP's, and after one particular BP, I turned around and saw a Leviathan on the other side of the pit. I walked up to it, and above it it said "Darter", and it was Leviathan's .dat. It only happened on one darter, the rest were still invisible, I just thought it was weird. Next time I'll take a pic, if it happens again. I guess it was just a weird and rare glitch.

Darters are written to aggro when the zone is overfull. I remember them "aggroing" a sitting white mage one time.

Fixed. It's SE's mechanism to get people out of Aery.

I saw that claimed while dead glitch not to long ago. You can clear it with Tractor, since you technically zone when you move.

This happened to me aswell about a month ago. I was sitting (/sit) waiting for window and i suddenly got mauled by 2 darters, neither of which had any hate on my alliance.
